Women’s Wear from Rugged Wearhouse

Hello friends and welcome to another edition of Sunday Style in September. If you follow me on Instagram then you would have seen this dress and tote that I wore two weeks ago. My son and I went to Rugged Wearhouse in Glasgow with the intent of finding him a backpack to carry his laptop. Unfortunately, he didn’t find a backpack, instead he found a gym bag with the Eagle’s logo on it which is his favorite NFL Team #FlyEaglesFly

Sunday Styling

When shopping at Rugged Wearhouse I normally head straight to the shoes and then over to the accessories which is where I saw this cute blue tote. I, however, had no intentions of purchasing until I saw the dress!

Summer sleeveless dress

A perfect sleeveless dress and in my size. I don’t know about you, but it seems as though whenever I find something really cute in a store that doesn’t specialize in Misses clothing there is never one in my size so I lucked out with this find.  I also like the double layers coming down from the neckline, a very unique feature.

As the weather cools and we head into Autumn, I can still wear the dress with a cardigan or blazer over top and a pair of black or blue pumps.

Speaking of cooling weather, don’t even ask me how many times I went swimming during the heat of the summer!

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Saving my Suede in the Snow

Saving my Suede in the Snow

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. Ole’ Man Winter made an appearance earlier this month and dumped a few inches of snow across the Mid-Atlantic area. I used to love watching the snow fall, but now I hate it, driving in it is the worse…it took me over 3 hours to get to work!  I was exhausted by the time I got there and I envy folks who can telecommute…unfortunately I’m not one of them.

Most of you know that I really don’t like wearing pants to work, so in order to keep warm on extremely cold and snowy days, I’ll wear tights and a pair of my suede boots. However, not getting them wet is nearly impossible so each season I make sure to spray them with a leather and suede protector.

Suede and Leather protector This brand was purchased at Payless and it does have a strong odor, so make sure to use it in the garage or outdoors weather permitting. Now I can step deep into the snow or pose on the deck without worrying about messing up my boots.

Same Skirt ~ Different Season

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday

I trust your week is going well and all is good in your neighborhood! When I decided to wear this maxi skirt the first thing I noticed was how beautifully the colors transitioned from Summer to Fall.

Although there is still plenty of snow left on the ground or at least on my back deck, the winds were mild enough so my legs didn’t get too cold. The longer sweater and booties also kept me warm so perhaps this skirt will make another appearance during a winter month (with tights and over-the-knee boots).

Same skirt Different Season

This sweater was actually a Christmas gift that my hubby gave to my grandmother over 10 years ago.  I’ve always loved the color and the length as well as the crocheted cowl neck collar.

The beige booties were purchased a few seasons ago at Rugged Wearhouse and are quite comfortable, more so than the brown ones that I gave away last week on Instagram.  If you don’t follow, you should because I will be giving away more in the near future. #payitforward

Here I tried to re-create the #myessence photo, so what do you think, which season did I wear it better?

I know you are busy but if you get a chance hop over to Alison’s blog and “Get Your Pretty On!” this wonderful Wednesday.

Have a blessed day and don’t forget to share it – Smooches!

Veteran’s Day 2013

Hello Friends and Happy Veteran’s Day

I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and if you are off today honoring a Vet I do hope that you are enjoying the day, unfortunately for me I have to work.

Happy Veteran's Day in our neighborhood.

Happy Veteran’s Day in our neighborhood.

The month is already flying by, can you believe that we have less than 18 days until it’s Thanksgiving 2013?

This is what I wore on the first casual Friday of the month which was by far the best beginning to November that I can remember. After an early morning mini downpour, the temps rose to 78 degrees with bright sunshine, it was almost summer like.

Do you remember this pink suede jacket that I thrifted last year from GW Boutique? The sleeveless tank was thrifted earlier in the year also at Goodwill.

I found these “pink bottom” loafers at Rugged Wearhouse – aren’t they cute?

Goodwill Meeting 088

Have you started planning your Turkey Day meal or will you be eating at a relative’s home instead?

We haven’t made any plans and I am not looking forward to asking hubby because it will be the first one without his mother….maybe we’ll just stay home and have a quiet dinner.

My Birthday Day in Review

Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!

Last Friday I was blessed to have celebrated my 52nd birthday.  I want to thank each and everyone of you for your birthday wishes, greetings and blog shout-outs, it touched my heart and I truly appreciated it.
It wasn’t too long ago that I would start my birthday day with a scheduled appointment for a mani/pedi, a spa treatment, out for a nice lunch then ending it with a shopping spree at the Mall. This year I started my birthday day with a scheduled doctor appointments/medical tests, a bagel and latte at a local cafe, a sidewalk sale then a meeting with my son’s case manager.  It’s amazing how my priorities changed as I got older.
Birthday 2013 045 One thing that never changes is the excitement of getting Birthday cards sent via USPS – I still love getting cards in the mail. Birthday 2013 056 I received a few from family and friends…

Birthday 2013 059

…but this was my favorite one from #1 son…definitely a keeper!

September 2013 018

I went to Whereabouts Cafe for breakfast and ordered an Oregon Chai Latte with an Egg Bagel and a Lox Spread.
Rugged Wearhouse was having their annual Sidewalk Sale and everything on the outside tables was $1.00.  I couldn’t resist picking up a few pieces of costume jewelry, spending a whooping $7.00, how my priorities have changed!

When son #2 arrived home from school he and I went in town to Verizon Wireless where he helped me choose a new Smartphone.  No, it wasn’t the Apple iPhone 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 a b c or d, instead I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S4 which I love – older eyes need bigger phones!

Before heading home, I stopped in at Cochran Liquors where they were hosting a taste testing for Bacardi’s new Light Strawberry Daiquiris.  With the first sip my mind was immediately transported back to an island in the Caribbean, it was a wonderful mini mental vacation.  (BTW my son was driving).  I decided to purchase a bottle of Bacardi Light Pina Colada to toast my 52nd birthday.

Later that evening hubby came home with a beautiful white floral arrangement containing Roses, Carnations, Lilys, Daisys and Baby Breaths.  This made for a perfect ending to perfectly blessed birthday day.

Thrifted Tuesday – OOTD

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday

Today I had to break out the jacket as the temperatures this morning dipped a little too low for wearing short sleeves.  A few of you may recall the closet mishap that I had a few months ago, well it happened again – #ihavetoomanyclothes, now most of my clothes are laying across the bed in the guest room.  Thankfully, I have a separate rack for just skirts so I grabbed this unwrinkled Polka Dot skirt to wear with the lime green knit top.

OOTD September 124

This  spandex jacket has a pleather weaved pattern giving it an edgy look which is why I chose to wear the studded bracelet.  The studs in the bracelet are silver and the ones in my shoes are gold but I don’t have a problem mixing metals.

How about you, do you mix your jewelry metals?

OOTD September 130

Black leather backpack belonged to my sister and has been in my closet since 1992, I’ve never used it.

OOTD September 128 My favorite end-of-the-season studded pumps by Leuven Alexander were purchased from Rugged Wearhouse.
