Headed to Hollywood – Part II – Scenes From the Shoot
Headed to Hollywood – Part II – Scenes From the Shoot
Hello friends and welcome to Thankful Thursday. Today’s post is Part II of my fabulous trip to Los Angeles. As you may recall from Part I, our day started extremely early but there was such beauty in the mountains and warmth from the California sun at Veteran’s Memorial Park that everything was a-ok.
The shoot was in Slymar, and the traffic at 6:30 am was a pure D mess, how do people in LA deal with all of that, no wonder there is so much smog in the air. Once we arrived at the park the production crew was already in place but we ate breakfast before hair and makeup so they could set up for the videos and stills. Alexandria did her thing first and I caught a little of her mad-cap frivolity, she is a hoot. I was next followed by Pam and then we did a few group shots and videos before a lunch break.
After lunch everything was packed up and we traveled to the the next location in West Hollywood on Melrose Place. Driving to West Hollywood, checking out the scenes, snapping a few pics was a great tourist thing to do, but once we got to Melrose, that’s where it started getting real.
Not only were we on one of the most famous city streets in the world, but the streets were packed with drivers in exotic cars, shoppers strolling, pedestrians and lookie-loos all around us. The valets were jumping up from their podiums greeting wealthy shoppers as they rolled up in front of the ritzy boutiques on Melrose. I didn’t see him, but was told that Toby McGuire (aka Spiderman) was seated at an outdoor cafe where Pam was supposed to shoot so things were delayed until he left the scene.
Trust and believe when I say, I worked hard that afternoon, it was exciting, exhilarating and exhausting…how do the stars do it ? Everything went well with all of us, including the group antics, is reality TV in our futures, (#3boomerswhoblog) anywho, we finished an hour ahead of schedule which I don’t know if it was a good or bad thing, but I do know that it was one of the most exciting days in my life and I am truly blessed and thankful to have had the experience…and pray for more!
After hugs, kisses and goodbyes to an amazing crew of photo, video, production, digital, wardrobe, hair/makeup and catering we left West Hollywood and headed to Griffith Observatory to see the famous “HOLLYWOOD” sign which was barely visible through the smog…all those exhaust fumes! There were some great looking homes and buildings as we returned to the hotel to shower, change and have dinner at Pez Cantina, a wonderful Mexican restaurant with the best Shrimp aguachile ever!
After dinner we walked a few blocks down to The Last Bookstore and in Part IV, you will see pictures of a truly amazing more-than-a-bookstore, one that you definitely must visit if ever LA. Stay tuned for next week’s Headed to Hollywood – Part III – The Eco-Friendly Hotel.
Until then…stay THANKFULLY blessed because you truly are!
Now that I am back to reality, it is difficult to remember that this actually happened. So much fun…thanks for helping me escape to LA for a few minutes this morning.
You are welcome, so glad to have the pics that way at least we can go back in time if only for a little while.
So glad you had fun. And my sister is a total hoot! She still gets me to crack up and I’ve known her since before we were born. Fun shots that make me appreciate LA more.
Kymberly, you are definitely blessed in more ways than one – your sis and that weather…do you guys adopt old ladies?
Go you! Go you! What a blessing!
Thank you, it definitely was!
So amazing. It’s kind of hard work being a model, huh?! Can’t wait for your big debut. Woo!
Hey, miss missy you know it’s hard…but you make it look so easy! Did you get my message yesterday?
Working hard for the money! It ‘s never easy my Sista and you are blessed!
Neti, it was fun and exciting so it was all worth it – thank you for your kinds words always – love ya sis!

I am blessed because I have friends like you who support! Love ya lady!
I LOVE Los Angeles. I have a 20 year old son who’s been living there for two years now and I love visiting him there and seeing the sights. He lives in Hollywood right off of Sunset Blvd., so he is smack dab in the center of everything. Awesome photos!
Thank you, I love California, lived there in my younger years but wish I was there in my older years as this cold is no joke! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I follow Kim on her blog and found you from there! I was so curious as to what she was up to! 🙂 I was bummed to notice that all of you were on Melrose, I literally live RIGHT NEXT DOOR!?!
WHAT!!??? I would have been so cool to have met you! Next time….I hope you are enjoying your weather because we sure aren’t!
I don’t take my weather for granted, AT ALL!
Have a wonderfully warm weekend.
Going to Hollywood is definitely on my travel bucket list. Mr. M has been there before and love it and didn’t want to leave. Too excited for you sis!
Thank you sweetie, I lived there a few times with my mother in my younger years and loved the weather, and now I wish I was there again this week. I hope you and Mr. M get a chance to get away to LA soon!
So proud of you.
Thank you cuzzy!
Oh what a fun adventure you had and such well deserved recognition! And LA? Well it is fun to visit!
Yes, it was definitely a fun place to visit, even for just a few short days.
With all the pluses in Cali, the traffic is a mute point. We love our cars and we know that traffic is just a part of our world. Glad you enjoyed it. I tried to let you and Pam know that there was an opening exhibit in L.A. by Louis Vuitton called Series 2. It was an incredible exhibit.
Oh too bad we missed it, but we were in and out of Cali so quickly I don’t think we could have made it. I spent my earlier years in Cali and enjoyed the time there this time and am looking forward to returning in the near future.
It’s a great State and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. One last thing. The days you were here, the weather was clear. What you saw in the air, which made the Hollywood sign less visible was marine layer. It floats in in the morning and late afternoon. If the smog was that thick, we would have had an air quality alert. Which is rare, but happens on occasion. In the past Twenty years, our air quality has improved greatly with installing metro links and other sources of commuter passenger systems. So, you weren’t breathing in dirty air, just the mist from the Pacific Ocean.
I didn’t think it was dirty air, I just loved being able to wear short sleeves and feel the sunshine on my face!
hahahaha. I am so glad to know that I”m madcap. And yes, we do adopt old ladies, but you are way younger than us, so we will have to also adopt young ladies. I’m so glad you had a good time after the shoot was over. The Last Bookstore is simply the best. I ended up having dinner at the hotel with my college roommate. Super fun day. I loved making friends with you and Pam.
Awwww… sweet! I LOVE LA!!!!
Yes…wish I was back today!
LA is on my bucket list! One day I’ll get there too. Your trip looks fun, thanks for sharing it at Thursday Favorite Things. Hope to see you again!
Thank you, yes, you definitely need to get to “LaLaLand”
Omg, that shrimp and avocado dish looks amazing! I’m trying to figure out what’s in your drink? It looks like an Aloe Vera leaf.
Celeste, It was a caramel alcohol drink, and I do think the leaf was an Aloe Vera, it was good!
Whoops! I hit “send” a little early. I also wanted to say I loved flipping through these photos. Hard to believe it’s that warm and sunny somewhere right now 🙂
I know, especially with ice and snow on the ground here!
