Remembering Bob Marley
Happy Birthday
Nesta Robert Marley
“He made his reggae music to uplift us, inform, entertain, inspire, and make change in the world. He’s a musician, a poet and songwriter, a philosopher, a soldier, an activist and a leader.” – Cedella Marley
Delaware Roots
His mother, Cedella Booker, relocated from Jamaica to his first American home in Wilmington, Delaware in 1966. That same year Bob Marley married Rita Anderson and joined his mother in Delaware for a few months, where he worked as a DuPont lab assistant and on an assembly line at a Chrysler plant under the alias Donald Marley. Every summer we have a PeoplesFestival at the Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park in Wilmington celebrating his life with live music, food, vendors and fun.
One of my favorite Bob Marley hits was “one love” which is now a theme song for vacation travel to Jamaica.
What is yours?
Cool info, never knew this! My fave song is Could You Be Loved. Danced into the night in Jamaica to that one…almost missed the shuttle bus back to my hotel – LOL
Cool, listening to that one now! Great memories
I love all Bob Marley’s music
Yes, hubby and I listened via Pandora – such feel good music!
