Well here we are again edging closer to the cold winter winds, so the time has come to say, “so long to short sleeves” This is the last time that I’ll be wearing a short sleeve dress to work without a cardigan or blazer. If you remember, this was actually the dress I wore to the Bloggers Night at the Grub Burger Bar.
My open toe shoes are also going to be packed up and replaced with tights, booties and boots. As much as I love the heat of the summer, I must admit that I am looking forward to the shorter and colder days of December.
I was trying to remember where I purchased this little black dress and then remembered that it was one of several that I had purchased to wear to my grandmother’s funeral in 2009. I am not sure if I wore it or chose instead to wear a blue one which was her favorite color. The Ethnic necklace with matching earrings were purchased several years before at a boutique in Wilmington.
These are my favorite peep-toe pumps; Jessica Simpson animal print that were purchased at a Consignment Shop in West Chester, PA. The purse is an Avon Accessory.
Hubby took a vacation trip to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic two few weeks ago, and for some strange reason I couldn’t sleep alone so I was up late way too late writing blog posts, including this one.
Now that he is back, I am sleeping like a baby and am very happy to have him home safe and sound. I am glad that he had an opportunity to get away and take some time to himself. After all he deserved it after the cancer diagnosis and the chemo treatments he underwent last year.
I am in the process of re-branding my business and my blog, so stay tuned for more exciting changes other than the obvious name change from DeDivahDeals to DelBlogger.
Speaking of staying tuned, don’t forget to follow me on AAU Teen Talk Radio on Blog Talk Radio – Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger Sunday evenings at 6 pm and if you miss them, make sure to listen to the rebroadcast as it helps me with my ratings.
No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn’t wear all my summer dresses, skirts, tops, tanks, shorts, shoes or sandals this season, which only means one thing – it’s time for a major purge!
Last Saturday I had a Yard Sale which was a bust, perhaps it was the weather or the holiday but I ended up donating over 10 boxes of clothing and household items to Goodwill.
My weight fluctuated this summer and went down 14 lbs thanks to the Medifast Program, however, I still haven’t reached my targeted weight goal. Fortunately, Sheath Dresses are very flattering so they will always be a part of my wardrobe.
This is one of my favorite sleeveless Sheath dresses and I have always wanted to find and thank the woman who donated it to Goodwill!
If your weight fluctuates due to menopause or other health issues, Goodwill and consignment shops are perfect places to find clothing on the cheap. During the month of September, clothing is only $2 on Tuesday at Goodwill in Delaware and Delaware County which will save you even more.
These were the yellow wedge shoes from Avon which I had worn with the dress in yesterday’s post. If you look closely at my leg, you will see the beginning of a poison ivy outbreak which is in it’s 2nd week!
This is also the yellow purse from Avon which I wore with the dress in that post.
Tomorrow I am going to go through all my closets and pack up any clothes and shoes that I did not wear this summer – no exceptions!
However, I will keep sleeveless tanks like these as I can always transition them to the fall with a sweater or blazer. There’s that yellow purse again!
The sleeveless tank was also thrifted from Goodwill and the skirt and statement necklace was purchased from Walmart.
The black sandals turned out to be my summer favorites and who would have thought that I could have found them at Sears! Well time to get into that closet and get rid of anything not worn this or last season and next week we will kick off the outfits with maxi skirts and dresses.
I’m back with another work wear OOTD and this time it’s my second favorite color combination – black and yellow or as I like to call it my “Bumble Bee” combination.
I think I may have posted this dress before, but since I liked it so much I decided to give it another a second post. However, this time I chose to wear my black sandals from Sears as opposed to the yellow wedge sandals that I wore from Avon.
The purse however, is from Avon and the necklace was a gift that I received from the crew in California from the Depend Commercial Photo Shoot. Do you remember that post? If not, relive it here! The bangle bracelets were purchased from Burlington which I wore to the Wilmington White Party.
I love this dress from Ross and might have to check back to see if they have it in another color – I think it would be great in green, what do you think?
Well tomorrow is the last day of posts from this week’s “What I Wore Last Week” and it will actually be a two-fer.
Have a beautifully blessed day and don’t forget to tune in Sunday night at 6 for “Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger” on AAU Teen Talk Radio, click the pic for the link to the show.
Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger Starting on September 11th
A few weeks ago hubby and I went to Wally World –aka- Walmart to pick up a few groceries but of course, we each stopped in the clothing section first and yes, we both put something in the cart other than milk, bread, and eggs. Hubby found a few shirts for Tayair to wear to work and I found a few skirts and tops for me to wear to work!
I normally wear dresses to work but their Faded Glory skirts are 95% cotton making them great for the end of the season, perfect to wear on the hottest dog days of summer.
They were also only $6.88, so together with the top the entire outfit was less than $10 and you know that made it perfect for my wallet!
The long necklace was purchased from Avon and it comes with matching earrings which I didn’t wear, instead am wearing a pair of small gold hoops.
The clutch was purchased last season from Kohl’s and was a good way to break up the blue. The bracelet is from Old Navy and if I am not mistaken the watch was also purchased from Avon.
Gotta love these denim wedge sandals which I think worked well with this casual outfit from Walmart. As a matter of fact, I was going to wear this outfit on our tour of The White House but instead wore the dress.
What do you think would wearing Walmart to The White House be appropriate?
Hello friends, I trust you have been enjoying these beautifully longer days and the nice warmer evenings. I am so glad to be able to put away the tights and boots in exchange for the bare legs and sandals, so this week’s outfit was perfect for these two contenders.
(Note at the time of this writing it was warm, however, Sunday there was a blast of cold and strong winter-like winds!)
If you have followed my advice and checked out a recent Avon Catalog then you would know that this dress and beige sandals are both Avon products – look out for an upcoming Avon Spring Fragrance Giveway coming soon!
I love the look of this outfit and am wearing it just as advertised in the Avon Catalog, hubby said it was too short to wear without the leggings but I am not sure if I totally agree.
However, there’s nothing worse than trying to sit in a too short dress or skirt and having to pull it down to keep the thighs covered. I have watched Wendy Williams try and fail at her many attempts.
The necklace and matching bracelet are also from Avon – they have some of the nicest accessories and being a Rep keeps my profits low but my jewelry box full.
The Black Sandals are Christian Siriano for Payless and are also cute and comfy. #dontsleeponPayless
The White House Black Market purse was thrifted from Goodwill and can be worn as a clutch or as a Crossbody bag which I prefer when heading to work.
Oh by the way, the leggings were also thrifted new from Goodwill.
Thank you all for your comments and compliments on last month’s You Choose the Shoes episode, I am glad that you have enjoyed the series. Speaking of which, the most popular shoe were the blue ones, even though it was almost a tie.
Okay, now, which pair would you have worn with this Casual Friday outfit?
The calendar may have said November, but earlier in the month Mother Nature had some major hot flashes. Two weeks ago the temps were in the high 70’s breaking all sorts of records, but finally the Autumn weather has settled in here in the Mid Atlantic area.
As previously stated, the only thing I really liked about Daylight Saving Time was having a brighter morning to photograph OOTD pictures. However, depending on the time, some mornings the sunshine can be intense and overwhelming as you can plainly see from this picture.
I think I may have also mentioned in previous posts that I prepare my outfits for the entire week on Sunday nights, undoubtedly I must have missed the weather forecast for this week when I chose to wear this particular outfit. It was however comfortable despite the temps nearing almost 80 degrees!
Long sleeves and cowl neck shirts are my favorites especially paired with pencil skirts and this one was purchased a few seasons back from JCPenney. Ever since they closed the store in the Exton Square Mallwhich was very convenient to shop at during my lunch hour, I haven’t had an opportunity to visit any the other locations. I had always loved their clearance racks and they always had the cutest pencil skirts out of all the other retailers that I have shopped.
These shoes were purchased from Ross, my “Betty Boop” shoes as I like to call them are quite comfortable because of the platform. The scarf was purchased from Avon and it makes a great “mix and match” print when paired with the skirt – what do you think? The other accessories are silver tone which I normally pair with black and white outfits.
Soon it will be time to bring out the big and bulky sweaters of which I recently thrifted a few at the local Goodwill store in West Chester. When you get a chance, go check out the mini haul video on my YouTube channel and let me know what you think.
Have you started your holiday shopping yet, if not, check out the latest Avon catalog for some great holiday gift ideas!

Do you remember my Kohl’s mini haul during the Labor Day weekend? Well I didn’t get a chance to wear the blue sleeveless dress, but I did wear one of the maxi skirts. I don’t know about you but I love high waist skirts and jeans so this was a perfect skirt to wear to work.
When I wore this outfit it was still relatively warm, but the weather has changed so it is definitely time for Autumn attire, so the next time you see this skirt it will be most likely be with worn with boots and a sweater.
What Fall fashions are you most looking forward to wearing?
The necklaces and bracelet were purchased from Avon and I will be doing another Giveaway soon, so please sign up for my Newsletter so that you can to get a jump on the announcement with a bonus entry.
The H&M purse was thrifted from Goodwill and the shawl is from Burlington Coat Factory.
Since I don’t normally shop retail I forgot to go back and use the $10 Kohl’s cash, however, I may pop over before the holidays to pick up a few more maxi skirts to add to my already overcrowded closet!
Okay, I know this is a shameless plug, but when you find clothing and accessories at a reasonable price AND you don’t need to leave your home to purchase them it’s a win win – so here we go again with another outfit from Avon!
One thing that I love about shopping Avon is that their clothing is true to size. I have gained several pounds over the last few years thanks to menopause and red wine, but I have yet to purchase a dress that didn’t fit and flatter my figure better than one from Avon.
This particular style is very flattering to every figure because of the lace in the front and back as it gives an illusion of being smaller than you are. The animal print purse from Mark/Avon can be worn over the shoulder with the strap attached or as a clutch with the strap placed inside.
Same thing with shoes from Avon, I wear a comfortable size 9 and their shoes are definitely true to size. However, if you wear a half size it is suggested you order a size up. I purchased these two-tone pumps before the dress but it’s a perfect match – what do you think?
As far as accessories are concerned, Avon definitely shines in this area, everything from earrings, necklaces to bracelets, rings and watches, including this cute ring/bracelet set.
I have a drawer full of accessories that I have yet to wear, but love the style and keep them for one of those “just in case” moments. I wore this outfit to work last week and felt cute all day, I almost went out after work but hubby wasn’t feeling too well.
Anywho, this outfit will definitely be back in rotation before the winter winds set in.
Make sure to check out the latest Avon catalog at www.youravon.com/ablake48 and have an awesome week ahead.
Hello friends and welcome to “You Pick the Purse 3” and in honor of this episode, I am featuring 3 different purses. However, before we begin, let’s talk about the dress. What’s not to love about a maxi dress in the summer? It is definitely comfortable enough to wear towards the end of the summer especially when the temps were in the high 90’s not only in August but straight into early September.
This is one of my favorite maxi dresses because it’s perfect to wear to work, church or out to dinner. I decided to wear a pair of yellow sandals sold at Avon, yellow statement necklace purchased from Walmart #yesWalmart and a yellow cocktail ring.
So take a look at each purse then leave a comment as to which one you would have chosen to wear with this maxi dress.
This first purse, also from Avon was chosen to match the sandals and other accessories. The white purse was purchased from Rugged Wearhouse and I carried it when we went on vacation in June to the Dominican Republic which loved it because I was able to carry a lot on board the plane.
The last purse is a black, crochet boho bag that I’ve had since forever and cannot remember where purchased!
I’ve knotted the top of this crochet boho bag but I do like that it has a long “handle”. Okay, take a look at all three and let me know which one you like the best.
