Hello friends and happy Hump Day Wednesday. This week’s Fashion after Fifty OOTD is another closet staple and my version of “Boho Chic”
These palazzo pants were purchased several years ago from TJMaxx and they were an extra, extra large, but because I loved them so much, I bought them anyway and tacked them on the sides.
As some of you know, we, the boomers of the 60s weren’t overly concerned with “what went with what or what didn’t go” with a certain style, which is why I mixed the accessories in this outfit.
Mixing silver, gold, resin, and brass bracelets, rings and necklaces made this such a fun and funky way to dress up a plain white tank top from Walmart.
The sandals also have Goldtone rhinestones in them so once again the mixing and maxing of accessories added to the fun of this Boho Chic yet casual Friday outfit.
I can’t remember where I purchased the leather purse but it must have been an an Afrocentric Boutique as evidenced by the continent of Africa emblem.
Everything old is new again which is why this like the tie dye maxi dress from last week’s post will remain in my closet for several more years. This is another classic outfit that will never go out of style.
Do you have a favorite “throw back” or classic closet staple?
Hello friends and welcome to another week of Sunday Stylin Roundup. The last two weeks of summer were fantastic in Delaware, as a matter of fact the entire summer season was fantastic and Autumn is starting out just as nice.
The four outfits being featured this week include a lot of black, but who doesn’t have a lot of black in their closets?
In this outfit there is a mix of black, beige and steel grey. The skirt is JCPenney, tank and shoes are thrifted and purse is from Burlington Coat Factory. The choker has been in my jewelry box for a long time, as a matter of fact, I believe it once belonged to my grandmother.
I hadn’t done much shopping during the summer, however, this dress was one that I did buy at Ross. The Buddha Bag was purchased last year during Shop Small Business Saturday, and the Mia heels are from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. The necklace was a Flea market find and the bracelet was $1.25 from Burlington Coat Factory.
Leaves falling on the pool deck made for a perfect backdrop for this Blue by the Pool outfit. This is another skirt from JCPenney, top from Marshall’s and I won the necklace from a fellow blogger. The thrifted beige pumps and bracelet from Old Navy completes the look.
I love turquoise blue – how about you?
In the last outfit you can tell that the temperatures are beginning to change as did my wardrobe. I will be wearing more long sleeves, blazers and cardigans so I spent more than 6 hours last Saturday in my closet, check out these before and after pics.
Unfortunately, I still have the spare bedroom to clear out – I had bags and bags of items to be donated to Goodwill – “Donate Stuff Create Jobs!”
I am not ready to cover my tootsies or wear tights, so I will continue wearing peep-toe shoes until the first snow fall.
How about you, are you ready to pull on the boots or shop for more summer styles? If you want to shop for more, go check out the sales at Shoedazzle or the BUY ONE GET ONE FREE SALE at JustFAB
I am thankful that the summer weather here in the Mid-Atlantic area has not been oppressively hot and humid. We did get some really heated days earlier in the season but then came those low to mid-80’s temps which were fantastic.
Last month I read a blog post by Mo over at “Who is that Girl Mo” which gave me the inspiration to wear this scarf.
I wore the outfit on a Casual Friday which is when I like wearing my white jeans or pants.
I have several pairs of white pants, these included which were thrifted from Goodwill, the infinity scarf was purchased last fall from Burlington Coat Factory.
The sleeveless tank top, tote bag and wrap-around bracelet are all from Avon – didn’t I tell you that they have nice accessories!
I love how these Montego Bay sandals pulls in the colors from the scarf.
Thank you Mo for the inspiration, whoa, hold on…wait a minute…come to think of it…I did wear a summer scarf last year…uh oh, I think I just had a a “senior moment”!

Well it was probably a temporary lapse in memory, but I am thankful that I did remember and thanks to Mo’s post, it was the trigger.
This has been yet another wonderful week and yesterday our ‘baby bird’ left the nest! Both of our sons are now in college and I am thankful for that, even if my wallet isn’t.
I am thankful for the time we have together as a family, I am thankful for my friends and of most importantly I am thankful for my faith.
Now it’s your turn – what are you thankful for this week?
I hope you will join me over at Katherine’s Corner to share some of your favorite things.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and was able to do something fun with your family or friends. Do you guys remember this dress from Midnight Velvet, it is still one of my favorite summertime sheaths.
A few weeks ago I wore it to church along with my Avon Forever shoes and matching purse.
The necklace and earring set is also Avon, and if you haven’t seen a recent catalog you need to do so now as there are some great end-of-the-season sales going on.

I will definitely be wearing this dress in the fall, can’t wait to wear it with either a red blazer or a black cardigan.
How would you wear it?
As we wind down the summer and head into autumn what outfits are you most looking forward to wearing into the cooler days?

Don’t forget to come back at 6:00 p.m. for the #WWDParty!
The lazy, hazy hot days of summer calls for an easy breezy outfit which is why I love wearing maxi dresses. Whether I’m heading out for lunch with hubby or running a few errands around town, there’s nothing like the carefree coolness of a maxi dress.
I’ll grab a boho bag, put on an armful of mismatched bangles and a large statement ring, slide into a pair of thong sandals and out the door I go!
Last Saturday was a perfect example of my Saturday Summer Style.
Maxi Dress with sexy side slit
Weekends are unstructured and so is my bag, I’ll just take a few essentials from my weekday purse, throw them into this bag and jet. A large statement ring and a bunch of mismatched bangles compliments the maxi dress.
However, in the summer there is definitely one thing that I can’t leave home without and that is sunscreen for both my face and body.
Summer skin care is vitally important and HSN is currently featuring Skin Care Products made for all faces. The products are available to treat everything from fine lines and wrinkles to oily skin and acne. To read more about these products and to receive skin care tips, click here.
Summer skin care is essential no matter what you are wearing, so ladies don’t forget the sunscreen before heading outdoors to keep the skin you’re in healthy and safe.
This Peachy Polka Dot outfit never made it onto the blog in May, but I couldn’t let it pass by without a least an honorable mention. I love Polka Dots and this dress was one of the ones I purchased at Boscov’s in 2005 when I was searching for something to wear to my grandmother’s funeral. She loved the color blue and polka dots as much as I, however, I ended up wearing a traditional black dress.
I love this dress and I usually end up wearing it at least 4 times a year. Because it’s sleeveless, it obviously works well in the Spring and Summer, however, if I throw on a cardigan or pullover sweater it works equally well in the Fall and Winter.
The dress originally came with a blue ribbon belt and bolero jacket, however, I decided to wear it with this peach, thick waisted belt which was purchased from Rugged Wearhouse for only $1.00. Needless to say, at that price I got several in different colors, isn’t the oversized sheer flower in the front cute?
The Polka Dot purse was also from Rugged Wearhouse and I may have mentioned this before, but they have some cute and inexpensive accessories. The necklace and earring set is from Avon and the shoes are Urbanog.com.
What is your favorite print or pattern?
I am linking up with Style elixir – so come on over if you want to see other great polka dot dresses.
This has been another blessed week, with our oldest being accepted into the CLSC Program at the University of Delaware and tonight our youngest is graduating from Appoqunimink High School!
I don’t let grass grow under my feet either because in addition to working full time outside of the home I also sell Avon and have been since 2002. Honestly, I don’t have a large customer base but enjoy selling products for a company that has been in business for over 125 years!
I use Anew products on my face and I love how Avon has changed their clothing selections to keep in line with the current trends. Unfortunately, it eats into my profits but that’s okay because I love their accessories, the shoes, sneakers, scarves and especially the totes and purses.
Check out this comfy casual outfit that I wore at the end of April, it’s was totally thrifted from Goodwill but accessorized by Avon.
Scarf – Avon | Polka Dot Top – Goodwill
Polka Dot Sneakers – Avon | Skirt – Goodwill
Color Block Tote – Avon | Black Studded Pumps – The Salvation Army
Disclosure: I received this item free of charge from Midnight Velvet. No monetary compensation was received or offered, all opinions are 100% my own.
Growing up in Dover I remember getting excited every time a Midnight Velvet catalog came in the mail. As soon as one arrived my grandmother and I would snuggle up on the sofa and flip through each page. She loved the large colorful church hats, and I loved the shoes, jewelry and decorative tops. I liked seeing the beautiful clothing the models wore, but always secretly wanted an animal print bedroom set, however, I knew my grandmother would have said, “no”.
I still love looking through the pages of a Midnight Velvet catalog, and now I have an opportunity to review a product from their Spring 2014 catalog. Of course I thought of my grandmother, knowing she would have been excited for me and wished I had chosen one of those big, colorful church hats.
However, for this review, I selected the Monte Carlo Gold Caftan. It arrived in a zebra print box which I’ll definitely re-purpose later. I loved that it was exactly as pictured in the catalog and fit perfectly. The Caftan is two pieces with a machine washable polyester tank underneath. Extra sequins are included for the nylon top which only needs to be spot cleaned.
The Monte Carlo Gold Caftan is perfect for a night out on the town with hubby or perhaps to a special church event which I know my grandmother would have liked.
I trust you all had an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas and that you received everything you wanted.
Today is the first day of Kwanzaa and the first principle is Umoja or “Unity”. As you go about your day I ask that you spread a little kindness with a smile or a simple “how doyou do”. This can make someone’s day brighter because we are all in this crazy mixed-up world together!
The last day of Kwanzaa is January 1st and if you have plans of going out for New Year’s Eve you’re probably in need of a new outfit.
As a stylist with the Goodwill 2014 Runway Show I’ve had the opportunity to pull together outfits for the various models. I’ve also pulled some dresses for the show that I think would be great for a New Year’s Eve event.
All of these dresses were under $20.00, most were only $5.00, so if you broke the bank at Christmas you can definitely save money for New Years.
Whether you’ll be dancing and prancing or just sitting and staring at others on the dance floor, you’ll look good doing it in a new dress or gown from Goodwill. Accessories such as new shoes, scarves, jewelry and handbags can also be found at your local Goodwill.
As you can see, several of these dresses and shoes are new with the tags still attached. There are definitely bargains to be found at Goodwill and you’ll be giving back and helping others in your community not only with your purchases but with your donations as well.
So what do you think, will it be a “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” or “Sex in the City” type of night?
