OOTD – Monday Madness

Happy Monday my friends.  This morning was full of drama, while having breakfast we got a Robo call from the school’s Department of Transportation.  The bus driver had quit and they were looking for a replacement but wasn’t sure what time the bus would arrive.  My son, being anxious to get to school…(yea right) whined and begged to drive my car.  He had driven me to Dover and back on Saturday so was comfortable with the car, however, it was his first solo trip.  I gave in and let him drive, praying until I got the call from the school that he had arrived safely and my car key was in the office.  Tayair had to drive me to his school to pick up my car and en route his windshield wiper flew off.  It was foggy and his defroster took almost a 1/2 hour to clear the window but we made it safely and he went to his shop to have them replaced.  I was an hour late to work but it’s three days before my birthday, my son’s are safe so it’s all good.

Got the call and I was happy!

OOTD – Rainy Days and Tuesdays

Breathe in through the nose….blow out through the mouth….again….breathe in through the nose….hold it….hold it….now….breathe out pushing hard…  Whew – I love shortened work weeks but sometimes it can be a bit much especially since I was also off last Friday and will be off again this Thursday.  Last Monday’s post was entitled “Rainy Days and Mondays”, and a tribute to The Carpenters, today’s post is “Rainy Days and Tuesdays” a tribute to Summer 2012.  If you live on the East coast, one thing we can all agree upon is that Summer 2012 was extremely hot AND Summer 2012 went by extremely too fast!  I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time poolside and even lucked out on Friday and got one last day before the weather turned.  There probably won’t be anymore 90 degree, lazy, hazy pool days this month and next month I will have the pool closed.  The rain is supposed to continue here until Thursday and I hope it’s the same forecast in Charlotte, North Carolina.  President Obama’s acceptance speech is outdoors and it would be terrible for people to be standing outside in the rain, so prayers going up for good weather!

I am wearing another shift dress from Burlington Coat Factory, which I love because it can be worn all seasons by simply adding a blazer or cardigan in the fall and then tights and boots in the winter.

Toes are going to stay out until it starts to snow – sike! These Fioni shoes were purchased last year from Payless and are very comfortable.  Bracelet and earrings are jewelry box staples, the ring is my birthstone, Sapphire – September…Virgo….yeah!!!  Necklace purchased over the weekend from Rugged Wearhouse for $1.49!!!!

Although we didn’t leave town or go on vacation this summer, I must admit that it was very nice to have mini staycations because it allowed me to spend quality time with my men.  Looking forward to cooler temps and beautiful colors of fall.  Have a fantabulous day and stay dry!

Apple Bottoms purse was also purchased last year from Burlington Coat Factory

Tayair's Birthday Dinner

I am still trying to come to grips with the fact that my oldest son is now 20 years old.  Although he had been diagnosed as being mentally challenged there are so many things that he can do and does well, including driving.  His birthday gift was a Tom Tom GPS from Best Buy to give him more comfort when driving to new destinations.  Expanding his world giving him more freedom and us a sense of security made it the best gift, although he probably would have preferred a splash party like the ones he had when he was younger!

His choice for dinner was Ruby Tuesdays and I had a $10.00 gift card so of course it was a good choice for me as well!

Birthday Dinner at Ali Baba Middle Eastern Restaurant

On Saturday, we took hubby to dinner at Ali Baba Middle Eastern Restaurant in Newark, http://www.alibabacuisine.com .  We hadn’t been there since August and being it was Cinco de Mayo most of the students from the University were at Mexican restaurants so we were seated immediately.

Tayair

The food is authentic Moroccan, very flavorful and everything is made fresh to order so you have to wait a little bit.  We sat in the backroom, which is decorated in tapestries and sofa seating, the soft cushions and pillows made it a comfortable wait.  Afterwards the wait staff don’t try to rush you out which also makes your dining experience pleasant.

We started with the Stuffed Grapes leaves, my son used the pita bread to wrap his, but they were perfectly warm when they arrived at the table.  We each had a different entrée so that we could taste a little of each.

I ordered the Samke Harra, a flaky fresh salmon filet, baked with tahini, garlic, cumin, onion, pine nuts, lemon juice, and parsley. It was served with a side of tabouli salad which contains parsley my favorite herb.  Along with a cup of mint tea it was heavenly!

Hubby had the Moroccan Chicken which had a harisa cumin sauce (spicy), served with a side of Eastern rice.  It was suggested that he pull back the skin if it was too spicy but he suffered through, sniffling while enjoying this awesome chicken dish.

Tayair had the chicken kabobs, which were cubes of chicken breast marinated and grilled, served on a bed of Middle Eastern rice.  He normally doesn’t eat much of anything unless it pizza, but he ate his entire meal without stopping.  After he finished his meal, “itis” kicked in and he leaned back, sleepy eyed on the cushions ready to nap!

al-Malik ordered the Lamb & Beef Gyro Pita Wrap from the lunch menu, but after seeing how small it was he decided to take it home.  He then ordered the lamb kabobs which were marinated and charbroiled and served on a bed of Middle Eastern rice.

Afterwards we were all fully satisfied with no room for dessert.  Can’t wait for the next visit to Ali Baba!
