Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
Today we officially open the pool for the season and despite the cold temps, Pool Care Specialist will be onsite to reassemble the parts and add the necessary chemicals. Every year I think about purchasing a better pool cover so that the water won’t be too dirty when opened in the Spring. It’s been over 10 years and I still haven’t gotten it but thanks to the mild winter it doesn’t look too bad and by Memorial Day weekend it will be sparkling clear.
We definitely will be getting a new Solar Cover because there is nothing worse than jumping into cold water!

Hello Friends and Happy Monday
After a wonderfully warm weekend the temperatures have reversed course and fallen back into Autumn, dropping down into the 30’s and 40’s! Yesterday I was in shorts preparing for the pool opening and today I am wearing fall clothing – this is crazy. The forecast calls for 80 degrees by Thursday so we will be going from sweaters to sleeveless tanks in less than a week, I don’t remember Spring temps being up and down like this – do you?

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
The weather so far this Spring has been two tone – warm one day, cold the next … sunny one day, raining the next…warm during the day and freezing at night. This afternoon it’s expected to be warm which is definitely a relief because the past few nights have been extremely chilly so much so that we had to turn the heat back on. I am not going to complain too much as there are states that are still dealing with snow and flooding which is far worse than anything we are experiencing.
In keeping with the two tone theme, today’s outfit is a combination of two trends:
Color Blocking and Black & White.
How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Hello Friends and Happy Sunday
I trust you all had a nice weekend and were able to relax or do something fun and exciting or both! I wasn’t able to clean out my closets but I did have a busy fun filled weekend which started with the honor of being chosen, “Top Blogger of the Week” by Sverve. I was in a fantastic mood as I headed out leaving my men doing yard work which wasn’t what my sons had planned for their weekend. While in town I stopped at my favorite lunch spot, The Java House Cafe where they were hosting a book signing by Christian author Richelle Rodgers. Her book, Forever Growing A Journey of Trust is a motivational book on empowerment and growing your relationship with God. Richelle is a retired Army Vet who remains very active in supporting other female vets and is currently working on a Women Veterans Leadership Awards Symposium to be held in DC this fall.
Today, The Java House Cafe hosted another book signing by author, Jacqueline Charmane, her 5th book, They Raped Me Once Over and Over Again, is a true story based on her life. She spoke briefly about some of the heart breaking events in her life including the emotional and physical abuse by both her rapist and husband as well as the the kidnapping of her son. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with each author after the events, purchased an autographed copy of the books, and took pictures which I will post later this week.
Today, was a bright and sunny day, a little cool but I had just purchased this Printed Cold Shoulder Dress from Avon and wanted to wear it to church.
It reminds me of a 70’s retro dress with the slit sleeves, do you remember Julie from The Mod Squad?
This vibrant floral print dress is only $24.99 for all sizes – S-3X
I wore navy blue heels – thrifted from GW Boutique (Goodwill)
Embellished Cross Collection Rings and Bangles – Avon
Earrings are silver hoops from jewelry box

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
This morning I woke up blessed but stressed which is not the norm for me. Before driving into work I stopped at Middletown Car Care to check on the status of “Miranda”, Tayair’s old car. We took it in last week for a diagnosis to determine if is was worth having it serviced and then given to Malik or not serviced and left on the lot to be sold. I don’t like being stressed or carrying a burden so I am going to relax, take a deep breath, exhale and then release it into the atmosphere.
Friday Eve and it’s not very Springy, it’s overcast and cloudy, a “jeans and t-shirt” type of day, but since I can’t wear that to work it’s a “two-tone dress” type of day.
How do you release stress?

Hello Friends, I hope you are having a Thankful Tuesday.
First and foremost I would like to offer up prayers and condolences to those affected by yesterday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon. Last night at the dinner table I once again emphasized the importance of being thankful, staying positive and living each day as if it were your last because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. The senseless waste of time on negativity and hatred is time that any of us can ill afford – Stay Blessed my Bloggy friends!
Not just today but every day, we have so much to be thankful for starting with the glorious gifts from Mother Nature. As much as I dread getting out of bed in the morning, once I’m up and out I feel truly thankful and blessed, how can I not be?

Hello Friends and Happy Tax Day 2013!
I hope you have completed and submitted your taxes and maybe got a refund. Ours were completed last week and thanks in part to the numerous Goodwill donations throughout the year we got a little tax break.
As much as much I love donating to GW Boutiques, thrifting there is much more enjoyable. Last Sunday I went to Goodwill in Middletown, which by the way has been reorganized and looks great. I thrifted a skirt, 2 tops and a pair of new floral jeans for $20.25, and submitted these photos for their Macklemore “Pop The Tag” contest.
Then on Thursday I went to GW Boutique on Concord Pike and thrifted these tops and skirts for $3.75 each and a Kate Spade purse for $4.00. I’m going to assume it’s a designer-inspired purse and if you know how I can determine that, please let me know.

Would you consider yourself a Flea Market Fanatic or Swap Meet Maniac if in every state you visited you had to seek out one?
I wouldn’t but I love finding them in my state as well as others that I visit. The first discovery was in 1976, the year we moved from New Rochelle, NY to Dover, DE and it was Spence’s Bazaar. As a family we bought and then sold every Tuesday and Friday during the summer. Buying fresh vegetables, clothing, jewelry, books, and games at a Flea Market was awesome and cheap! Making money selling at a Flea Market was also awesome, however, my first experience wasn’t so positive. I sold several cases of 1950’s and ’60’s Barbie Dolls with clothing and accessories to a women for $5.00 – I didn’t know, but she knew that she had ripped me off!
Tayair and I were there in September (here)
In college during the 80’s I discovered Cowtown Flea Market across the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pilesgrove, New Jersey. It was the place to go for sneakers, knock off designer bags, tight Sergio Valente and Jordache jeans as well as items you needed for your dorm room before heading back to campus. As a matter of fact hubby and I had our second date there, shopping then eating sausage sandwiches at the counter was where I fell in love with him, a man after my thrify heart! I’ve also gone to some fantastic Swap Meets in California, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.
The Infamous Cowboy Statue
Even while vacationing in Florida we always dedicate one day to visiting Flea Markets and Swap Meets. Malik looks for watches and has a pretty nice collection, when he was younger it was model cars of which he has a large collection. Hubby would seek out new ties for work, me shoes and purses, and Tayair T-shirts. During President Obama’s run in 2008 we must have purchased a dozen different styles of campaign T-Shirts.
In the ’90’s, and during our early years of marriage we would rent space at New Castle Farmers Market. Selling surplus household items as well as those tight jeans and barely-there club dresses with hubby practically giving those away – lol! Now as a couple we go for fresh veggies, vitamins and herbal teas, boy how times have changed!
Now it’s Dutch Country Farmers Market in Middletown, where for $15 you can rent 3 parking spaces on the 1st Saturday of the month beginning in April to September. Last weekend I made almost $200 – “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”!
Are you a Flea Market Fanatic or Swap Meet Maniac?
If so, where do you go and what was your best find?
