Weekend Wind-Down Party #10

Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay

This has been a week of highs and lows and I am not even going to talk about the zany weather.  Life is so very fragile, I am asking each of you to tightly hug and tell someone that you love them tonight before the clock strikes midnight!  I also want to say, “thank you” for being part of my life, I will probably need to borrow some of your strength as time goes on…but we’ll talk about that later, in the meantime. please say an extra prayer for the “Blake Family”.

Can you believe that this is the 10th Weekend Wind-Down Party?  It has been so much fun, reading, sharing and laughing at all the wonderful posts each week.

BTW – this is the last weekend to enter to win the $50 Gift Certificate to Midnight Velvet!

Avon MEGA Effects Mascara

Hello Friends, I hope you had an enjoyable weekend!

As an Avon Independent Sales Rep I probably have more cosmetics than I need but I like trying new products so that I can spread the word to my customers or answer any questions they may have. I don’t particualarly like to spend a lot of money on makeup and usually stick to an under $5.00 price point but I was curious about the new Mega Effects Mascara.

photo (4)

The $10 cost made me a bit apprehensive as well as the fact that it looked a little more complicated to apply and I don’t have a lot of time in the morning, but I bit the bullet and ordered it. The first morning I tried it I ended up poking myself in the eye and getting smudges on my lower lashes, I was trying to use it like a traditional brush.

photo (3)

The WonderBrush handle is like a mini paint brush that is adjustable, and is shaped to fit the natural curve of your lashes.

photo (2)

I am going to be honest and say that it took two mornings for me to become comfortable in using it but now it’s just as quick to apply as any other mascara. It provides great volume, there’s no clumping, and it’s easy to remove at night.

This was definitely worth the price.

PRODUCT REVIEW – bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0

I was gifted a product sample of bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0, for being a “Beauty Ambassador” for *Ladies Home Journal.  Now for the life of me I don’t remember signing up to become an “Ambassador“, but glad that I did because you know I like to get things FREE!

Ladies Home Journal Magazine

I am not a beauty expert nor have I ever claimed to be, but I’ve been known to try new products and then share my opinion, usually an Avon product because that’s what I sell.  So when I get free samples in the mail or from magazines I like to try them as an alternative to my Avon products.  The bareMinerals Eyeshadow READY 2.0, is a duo palette, “PAGE SIX” is a light pink shade and “MOST REQUESTED” is a darker burgundy both contain iridescent sparkles.  I swatched each color onto my arm and found them to be smooth in application as well as a complimentary color for my complexion.

photo (3)

I primed my eye lids before applying and chose my version of the Smokey Eye look.  Used an elf Angled Couture Eyeshadow brush for “PAGE SIX” and the Blending Eye Brush for “MOST REQUESTED”

photo (7)

photo (6)

The bareMinerals Eyeshadow went on smoothly with no dusting or falling flakes

photo (5)

Product wore well throughout the day and looked just as fresh at 3:00 p.m. as it did when first applied at 7:00 am

* This is solely my opinion – Ladies Home Journal Magazine did not request a review via De Divah Deals Blog in exchange for product*

Not your Grandmother’s Avon

I’m not sure if you’ve seen an Avon catalog lately and if not, here’s just a taste of what you’ve been missing.  As an Independent Sales Rep for Avon for over 15 years I’ve seen many changes all of them good.  Avon is a company that has been in business for 125 years and has changed with the times without sacrificing the quality of their products, however, it is no longer your grandmother’s Avon – check it out.

“Night At The W” – Winning @Walgreens

This morning on EyeOpenerTV there was a featured interview with Tim Gunn of Project Runway.  He is partnering with Walgreens in introducing “Night At The W”, an exclusive cosmetic event being held Thursday, 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the stores.  I was curious and wanted more information so after work I stopped at my local Walgreens in Middletown.  My favorite store associate, Anna Marie was busily working the department, which as usual was fully stocked and neatly organized.  The new displays provided an upscale look with a clean and inviting layout, there definitely will be a lot of activity at this “Get Ready For The Red Carpet” event on Thursday.

Of course I am always on the look out for those orange, clearance stickers and tonight I spied Sally Hansen Salon Effects and Nail Polish on sale.  I am really looking forward to Thursday night and along with my Walgreens Rewards card I think I will come out a winner.

Milani Makeup Sale at Kmart

Hello friends, I hope your day was stress free and you are now home relaxing comfortably in anticipation of next week’s madness! I do not shop on “Black Friday” but I do like to look for bargains the week before Thanksgiving. Today I stopped in at Kmart in Exton, PA and found several bins containing the summer line of various cosmetics, including Milani and Wet n Wild. I’ve never used Milani but have heard good things from YouTube Vloggers so for the price I decided to pick up a few products.

Yesterday I received the 3rd and from what I’ve read, the final FREE Beauty Bag from Target.  This one is definitely my favorite, a 6″x 5″, vinyl SOHO Beauty Bag in leopard print, perfect for the season and can easily be wiped clean.  It wasn’t until later this morning that I realized it matched my OOTD perfectly so I had a co-worker take this picture.

Nailwear At fiveBelow

If you ever shopped at a five Below you’d know that in addition to the toys, school supplies, candy, plastic wear, swimwear, iPhone/laptop/computer accessories, blah blah blah blah blah, they also carry nailwear and cosmetics on the cheap.  I stopped in last evening and picked up a few items to add to my already excessive nail polish collection!  Unfortunately, my nails were weaken by a Gel manicure done at a salon so I have been doing my own and I like the new colors and products currently on the market.  fiveBelow also carries a brand of the Magnetic nail polish which I would like to try, but they only had one bottle and it was a color that I didn’t particularly like so I’ll check another store over the weekend.

Sally Hansen HD Hi Def Nailwear – $2.00

Sally Hansen Salon Effects – $3.00

Nutra Nail Gel Manicure Kit – $5.00

I need to go through and organize this mess!

By the way, check out my cousin’s nails, these are short considering what they once were a few years ago!
