Do you remember my Kohl’s mini haul during the Labor Day weekend? Well I didn’t get a chance to wear the blue sleeveless dress, but I did wear one of the maxi skirts. I don’t know about you but I love high waist skirts and jeans so this was a perfect skirt to wear to work.
When I wore this outfit it was still relatively warm, but the weather has changed so it is definitely time for Autumn attire, so the next time you see this skirt it will be most likely be with worn with boots and a sweater.
What Fall fashions are you most looking forward to wearing?
The necklaces and bracelet were purchased from Avon and I will be doing another Giveaway soon, so please sign up for my Newsletter so that you can to get a jump on the announcement with a bonus entry.
The H&M purse was thrifted from Goodwill and the shawl is from Burlington Coat Factory.
Since I don’t normally shop retail I forgot to go back and use the $10 Kohl’s cash, however, I may pop over before the holidays to pick up a few more maxi skirts to add to my already overcrowded closet!
Would you wear white after Labor Day? I did and so should you! Just like being sleeveless after fifty, you can also wear white after Labor Day because it is no longer considered a fashion faux pas.
On a warm end of the summer casual Friday, I wore my favorite white pants for only the second time in the season. Not only was I cool, comfy and casual, I didn’t spill a thing on them and you know that I am afraid to wear white – remember this post?
So what about you, have you worn white after Labor Day?
Hello friends and welcome to “You Pick the Purse 3” and in honor of this episode, I am featuring 3 different purses. However, before we begin, let’s talk about the dress. What’s not to love about a maxi dress in the summer? It is definitely comfortable enough to wear towards the end of the summer especially when the temps were in the high 90’s not only in August but straight into early September.
This is one of my favorite maxi dresses because it’s perfect to wear to work, church or out to dinner. I decided to wear a pair of yellow sandals sold at Avon, yellow statement necklace purchased from Walmart #yesWalmart and a yellow cocktail ring.
So take a look at each purse then leave a comment as to which one you would have chosen to wear with this maxi dress.
This first purse, also from Avon was chosen to match the sandals and other accessories. The white purse was purchased from Rugged Wearhouse and I carried it when we went on vacation in June to the Dominican Republic which loved it because I was able to carry a lot on board the plane.
The last purse is a black, crochet boho bag that I’ve had since forever and cannot remember where purchased!
I’ve knotted the top of this crochet boho bag but I do like that it has a long “handle”. Okay, take a look at all three and let me know which one you like the best.
Hubby’s 3rdchemo treatment last month was his worse, especially the days immediately following the Thursday shot, he had sore muscles, headaches and insomnia. However, after several restless nights he was finally able to get a good night’s sleep which meant he felt well enough to get up the next morning with me and offered to take a few pictures.
This photo shoot didn’t last long and I tried not to have too many retakes, but as you can tell by my smile which was in response to his, it was a good day! (Ice Cube voice).
Instead of featuring a You Choose the Shoes episode which takes longer to shoot, I decided to do another episode of You Pick the Purse.
This maxi skirt from Boscov’s is one of my favorites because of all of the vibrant colors. The green sleeveless tank was thrifted from Goodwill.
This first purse is from Walmart#yesWalmart and I also picked up one in the black, white and grey combination of colors.
This second purse/clutch was also thrifted from Goodwill and it’s a rattan fabric with colors that compliment the skirt, what do you think?
By the way, if you haven’t done so already, check out the new design of as well as read my posts on the Goodwillde.org blog.
So what do you think? With the wood and bead accessories and beige open toe wedges, which purse would you have worn with this outfit?
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers as hubby goes through this. God/Allah has all the power and soon this too shall pass leaving him stronger and healthier and back where he should be…have a mah-vah-lous day!
Slowly but surely I am pairing down my shoe collection as I didn’t wear as many of the summer sandals that I had in previous seasons. I wore far less than a dozen that I really liked including ballerina flats so I boxed up several pairs and donated them to our local Goodwill.
No, I didn’t buy any others to replace them but did realize that I had a pair of brand new sandals that were previously purchased that I hadn’t worn, so they will get a chance to be shoecasted this season!
As a matter of fact these beige sandals were purchased last winter and they were part of a bigger donation from Target. If you are a true blue Goodwill thrifter then you know that several retail stores, including Target often ship their out of season items to Goodwill where you can find them on their “Boutique” racks.
The dress is from Ross Dress for less and with the multiple colors throughout, I thought the sandals were a perfect match. The heel may be a bit chunky but it’s a nice color coordination nevertheless, what do you think?
A simple pair of gold hoops, an oversized ring and my wooden watch fromJord completes the outfit. Oh, and this off white purse was also thrifted from Goodwill.
I always spray thrifted shoes with a disinfectant spray no matter if they are new or not, and as a matter of fact, I spray all shoes that I purchase because I never know who tried them on before me!
Are you ready to transition your wardrobe from summer to autumn?
Hello friends and happy 1st Sunday in September which also happens to be my birthday month #Virgo. Today I attended Sunday service at Mt. Pisgah UAME. which is a small church that is less than a mile from my house. Because it was yet another hot and humid day, I chose to wear this sleeveless dress and a pair of open-toe sandals.
If you didn’t have an opportunity to watch the Kohl’s mini haul video, check it out below and tell me if you liked the skirts. The orange cross body bag was only $7.80 and it was the perfect size to carry to church.
By the way the Labor Day weekend holiday sale is still in effect, $10.00 off, $30.00 purchase plus Kohl’s Cash for every purchase over $50.00 and their clearance racks are packed. You can either download the electronic coupon at www.kohls.com or find a paper coupon in Sunday’s circulars.
This dress was purchased at Ross Dress for Less, which is another store that I love not having to pay full retail price for clothing and accessories.
I hope you all are enjoying this long weekend, that is if you are off from work and I wish you all a wonderful Labor Day tomorrow.
Saturday I had the awesome opportunity of being one of the judges for the 2015 Delaware Burger Battle held at the Cauffield House in Wilmington Delaware. To say that this was a hard job would be a lie because it was the easiest and by far the best job of the entire summer!
If you read my post last Monday then you would have known that I had suggested that you bring your appetite and to wear stretchy clothes. Thankfully, I heeded my own advice because I didn’t eat breakfast and wore this multicolor stretchable maxi dress.
The maxi dress was just one of several that I had purchased in May at Ross Dress for Less in preparation for our 2015 family vacation to the DR, remember this post? The elastic waist and long flowing bodice was not only chic but it was cool, comfy and I received many compliments throughout the day.
I have to admit that it was the perfect easy breezy outfit to wear to judge not one…not two…but 5 amazing burgers and then an afternoon of an all-you-can-eat from 15+ restaurants all vying for “The People’s Choice” trophy!
The fact that the Burger Battle was held at the scenic Cauffield House made the event even better, if that was even possible! “The Cauffiel House’s comfortable charm and picturesque setting provides a refuge from the modern world. The surrounding grounds feature a gracious canopy of mature trees and a quaint gazebo”. My son, Tayair attended with me and he was also my volunteer photographer so for that I wish to thank him for his patience!
I would also like to congratulate the winners of the 2015 DE Burger Battle;
and also a special congratulations to the real winners of the day, The Ministry of Caring Emmanuel Dining Room who with the donated proceeds from the event will further assist them with their wonderful humanitarian efforts assisting those in need in the state of Delaware.
It was perfect day, warm weather with low humidity which is a rarity for a summer day in Delaware. It was also a delight to meet fellow Delaware food bloggers Don Palmer from www.aslongasweeat.com and Dan Sanchez of www.dorksandforks.com as well as Reyna Boyer of www.foodnerdjr.com
I can honestly say, that we all had a great time test tasting each burger grading them on a 4 point system and cleansing our pallets with cold beer. My favorite was Purple Haze, a New Orleans blendwhich was apropos considering it was the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
The 2015 Burger Battle was yet another fantastic Delaware event and would like to thank JulieAnne Cross for once again inviting me to participate and I look forward to the 2016 Delaware Burger Battle.
Do you have Burger Battles in your cities or towns?
Come back on Friday to see more of these mouth watering burgers which may give you some ideas for your Labor Day cookout.
Can you believe it’s the end of August and that summer is almost over?
Today’s OOTD post is featuring a style of pants that never seems to go out of style and that is Palazzo Pants. As a boomer it seems as though I have been wearing this style for over 40 years, yet some may say it’s a new style, gotta love those millennials!
If you are fabulous after fifty, Palazzo pants are a wardrobe staple. The wide legs and elastic waist are very forgiving and can be worn with a simple tee shirt or a sleeveless tank as I have paired one with mine.
You can dress up a pair of Palazzo Pants with heels or dress them down and be comfy casual in flats or sandals. This particular pair was purchased several years ago from Marshalls, but I have recently found a few other pairs from Zulily, check them out.
Disclosure: If you click on the link and make a purchase, I might just make enough coins to buy a cup of coffee!
How do you feel about these wide-leg pants, do you have a pair in your closet?
Hey, don’t touch that dial!
Do you know which 60’s sitcom featured that tagline?
Some of you know from previous posts that I am afraid to wear all white..why…because it brings out the kid in me. You know that kid who inevitably and by the end of day has spilled something on themselves while wearing an all white outfit. Plus it reminds me of when my sister, cousins and I got Baptized at Gospel Tabernacle Church in the 70’s!
Anywho, I finally went through all of my closets and dresser drawers earlier this summer and got rid of a lot of clothes that were either too small or I hadn’t worn in years. I sold most of them for $1.00 a piece at my Yard Sales and the rest I donated to Goodwilland theBoys and Girls Club.
A pair of white linen pants are a summer wardrobe staple, but unless you want to look like a wrinkled mess in a few hours, I suggest you wear them when you’re not traveling in a car or plane for hours.
Because I love the black and white combination and polka dots are my favorite I chose to pair them with a sleeveless tank and black strap sandals.
The polka dot purse was a great find at Family Dollar, and like I said before, “don’t sleep on the Dollar Stores” especially when it comes to accessories.
When you just need to grab a purse and go on a casual Friday or weekend, this bag works.
Do you have a fear of wearing white or am I the only one?
I’ve had to cut back on the “You Choose the Shoes” series now that hubby is no longer my photographer. I’m letting him get more rest in the morning, so it’s just me and the camera and sometimes using the timer takes longer than changing the shoes. But never fear, it’s not a done deal my dears we will one day resume. So in the mean time and in between time let’s try, “You Pick the Purse!”
I am not even going to get into how many purses that I actually have, but I will admit that I recently got mad at myself when I found a whole container of them under the bed! I am however, trying to declutter and have sold several and my recent Yard Sales so eventually, I’d like to get it down to about 2 dozen! Shoot, I still remember back in the 80’s when I ‘had’ to have a purse to match every pair of shoes to match every outfit – crazy right?
What is your accessory obsession or do you even have one?
If you remember this dress, it was for a sponsored post for Midnight Velvetand I love their Google+ page. They are always having contests and giveaways, so check them out when you get a chance.
I am glad that I chose this dress to feature because not only are Polka Dots prints my favorite but also because it can be worn all four seasons. I’ve worn it with a cardigan sweater in Autumn and with a blazer in the Winter.
Also, it has side pockets, not that I use them to store anything, but I do like that it’s not just an “A line” dress, like the other sheath dresses that I have.
I found this clutch in the back of my closet and remember that it was thrifted from Goodwill last year. I thought it might pair well if I were going out to dinner or to church, but the red tote is much more practical for wearing to work.
The neckline on this dress is very flattering and I don’t usually like skinny belts but I do like how this one fits on me!
This red tote was purchased from Walmart but I have a few others in similar styles from Avon. Love love love these Jessica Simpson sandals!!
Okay, so which purse would you pick to wear with this dress?
