Last Friday when Malik came home from college for the weekend he also brought a friend. I really didn’t mind having an extra mouth to feed but having just the right amount of snacks was definitely important.
Earlier in the week he sent me a text message stating that he was bringing home 3 friends so I stopped at the grocery store after work. I wanted to pick up some chicken wings, cheese and crackers which are all his favorites, but I also needed to include some healthy items so I also bought fruits and veggies.
Whether entertaining friends for the holiday or my son and his buddies for the weekend, having just the right kitchen tools is always essential.
I recently received these KitchenwarePlus Bamboo Cutting Boards from Digital Awol and can honestly say that they are by far the best I’ve ever owned. These top quality boards are sturdy, and extra thick made from Bamboo and the large one measures 18” x 13”, the medium board is 13” x 8.5”.
As you can see, they were the perfect size for “cutting the cheese” and serving snacks to my son. The boards are available via Amazon.com, so if you order a set today you will receive them before your holiday entertaining begins.
What are your kid’s favorite snacks?
Stay Blessed ~ No Stress in 2014!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
I recently read an article by my favorite financial advisor Michelle Singletary who is an author and Award Winning Nationally Syndicated Columnist for The Washington Post. She wrote about the case of former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen. Seems like they got themselves into trouble for taking gifts and loans in exchange for political favors. I know this isn’t anything new in politics but what I found to be interesting was the fact they, like so many others found themselves in dire financial straits, drowning in credit card debt trying to keep up appearances.
I am truly thankful for being thrifty and I always enjoy meeting others who are just as frugal if not more so. Being a thriftinista isn’t just in vogue it’s what keeps most of us out of the financial fire pit called credit card debt.
It’s not that I don’t understand the McDonnell’s predicament because I too have lived beyond my means and paid dearly for it. I’ll be the first to admit that my finances aren’t where they should be but I do know that if I want designer duds, I’ll find a consignment shop with a quickness. I paid less for this gown than I did for a full tank of gas (sorry this is a old cell phone pic).
Today in addition to being thankfully thrifty, I am thankful for my family, friends and of course my faith. I am also thankful to be participating in today’s Social Media Workshop sponsored by The Money School of Delaware, I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
Now it’s your turn, what are you most thankful for this week?
Because for the past 25 years nothing that I’ve ever given him was good enough!
I am a CHEAP frugal shopper so he’s never used a single item that I’ve given him including gift certificates/cards.
Actually seven years ago I started giving him single dollar bills, and no not for what you’re thinking! I would give him a dollar for each year starting with a pack of 50. Most times he’d spend it on the boys, but this year he’s not even getting that because we just spent a bunch of money to replace the engine in Tayair’s old car to give to Malik. Of course we had to assign the car to him and because he had an accident last month it’s costing us an additional $350 month, therefore, no one gets any birthday money this or next year!
Happy Birthday Hubby!
alright…heading out to get ingredients for his birthday dinner….and maybe a Walgreen’s Gift Card…this year he just might use it!)
