Funny Flea Market Finds

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday

I trust you all had an enjoyable weekend with an opportunity to be outdoors as it was simply gorgeous in our neck of the woods.  On Saturday, it was a bright, sunny 85 degrees, a perfectly glorious Indian Summer day.

I spent the day at Dutch Country Farmers Market trying to make a little extra cash, de-cluttering my nest trying to get rid of items that we no longer need, want or use anymore.  On the first Saturday of every month beginning in April and ending in November, you can rent 3 parking spaces for $15.00, to turn your trash into someone else’s treasure!

I didn’t get much of a chance to walk around which is a good thing, because I didn’t want to spend my profits nor did I need to buy more stuff only to get rid of it later.

You can find almost anything at a Flea Market, some things are usable others are just unusual, check out what had me scratching my head.  I tried to figure out the thought process going into making these purchases – what do you think?

For Family Fun Game night, I can understand that, but Rummikub is an old game and there were missing pieces…even at a buck I didn’t understand this purchase.

Speaking of unusual, check out these cool modes of transportation.

It was a long day but I made enough money to pay for groceries and was still able to donate 7 boxes of clothing and miscellaneous household items to Goodwill.

Hello Autumn

Hello Friends and Happy 1st Day of Autumn 2013!

I didn’t get all of my outside chores done yesterday but anticipate a few more warm Indian Summer Saturdays to get them completed.  Out and about running a few errands I stopped at Loguello’s Country Market and picked up a few mums but I need to go back next week for more.

In Middletown, Logullos Country Market is a great place to shop for Autumn, Harvest and outdoor Halloween decorations.

They carry a wide selection of seasonal trees and plants, Bales of Hay, Pumpkins and Cemetery Markers.

If you are like me, you enjoy shopping locally verses going to the big box stores for your outdoor plants and decorations.  I love the vibrant colors of the Harvest and am looking forward to my favorite and the first official holiday of the season – Thanksgiving!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the transition from Summer to Fall.

Throwback Thursday DIY

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!

Can you believe that next week it will be Labor Day, the unofficial end of Summer – where did August go? I don’t know about you but I don’t rush to put away my summer clothes and break out the Autumn gear.  I like to leisurely linger into Indian Summer by continuing to wear white jeans and sundresses.

Last year I did a few Labor Day DIY’s one of which was upcycling a Sundress into a Maxi Skirt, you can read that post HERE.  Today I am wearing that Maxi Skirt with a mustard-color blouse thrifted from GW Boutique (Goodwill) and Wedge Sandals from Target.

Are you ready for the cooler weather of Autumn or are you like me and love the heat of the Summer?

Today I am linking up with Katherines Corner, come on over and congratulate her on reaching 10,000 followers – woohoo!

Have a fantastical day – Smooches!

Labor Day DIY’s

20120903-203950.jpg

I hope everyone had a great holiday filled with fun, family and lots of food. Our holiday included a little shopping and a lot of grilling including today. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day and there were even reports of tornado-like winds downstate. Because of the weather we spent the day inside and I did a few chores and DIY projects.

Although unofficially this is considered the last day of summer, I am not ready to put away the summer clothing, including the white! We still have Indian Summer in October and during that time some of the days can be balmy.

One of my DIY projects was up-cycling a Maxi dress, cutting off the bodice above the elastic waist to make it a skirt. Now the maxi skirt will be worn with a light-weight pullover during Indian Summer or with boots and long, bulky sweater in the fall.

The black, faux suede loafers were purchased from Walmart for $14.97. I haven’t decided which embellishment to use, but at that price I may get a few more pairs to create different styles.

I hope you have a stress free and productive work week, try not to squeeze 5 days into 4 because it never works!!!
