Book Signing with Author Jacqueline Charmane

On Sunday, a second book signing was held at The Java House Cafe in Middletown with local author, Jacqueline Charmane.  Jacqueline’s book, They Raped Me Once Over and Over Again is her fifth book and the first one not self-published.  In addition to being an author, Jacqueline is a Christian Evangelist and a Comedian (Mother Maeye).  As a student at The University of Delaware she received numerous awards and accolades and was even honored as “Most Likely to Succeed” but her dreams were turned into nightmares and she dropped out of school.

Jacqueline eventually returned to school and began working for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and while commuting on a train she met her rapist and father of her only son.  Rejected she hid the truth and married her boyfriend who thought the child was his.  This true story is of how her courage, determination and faith in God helped her survive an abusive marriage, kidnapping of her son, a divorce, depression, a mental breakdown and then the near death of her son.

They Raped Me Once Over and Over Again is not for the faint of heart, it’s a graphic real life account about the things men do to women and the things women do to survive, it will definitely change the way you think about life.  Jacqueline’s other books are “A Journal of 52 Days To Your Prosperity“, “I Don’t Do “FRIEND” Marry Me or Be Alone”, “Satan’s Dirty Little Secret Is Out” and “Knowing and Possessing The Attributes of God”

Flea Markets & Swap Meets

Would you consider yourself a Flea Market Fanatic or Swap Meet Maniac if in every state you visited you had to seek out one?

I wouldn’t but I love finding them in my state as well as others that I visit.  The first discovery was in 1976, the year we moved from New Rochelle, NY to Dover, DE and it was Spence’s Bazaar.  As a family we bought and then sold every Tuesday and Friday during the summer.  Buying fresh vegetables, clothing, jewelry, books, and games at a Flea Market was awesome and cheap!  Making money selling at a Flea Market was also awesome, however, my first experience wasn’t so positive.  I sold several cases of 1950’s and ’60’s Barbie Dolls with clothing and accessories to a women for $5.00 – I didn’t know, but she knew that she had ripped me off!

Tayair and I were there in September (here)

In college during the 80’s I discovered Cowtown Flea Market across the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Pilesgrove, New Jersey.  It was the place to go for sneakers, knock off designer bags, tight Sergio Valente and Jordache jeans as well as items you needed for your dorm room before heading back to campus.  As a matter of fact hubby and I had our second date there, shopping then eating sausage sandwiches at the counter was where I fell in love with him, a man after my thrify heart!  I’ve also gone to some fantastic Swap Meets in California, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.

Even while vacationing in Florida we always dedicate one day to visiting Flea Markets and Swap Meets.  Malik looks for watches and has a pretty nice collection, when he was younger it was model cars of which he has a large collection.  Hubby would seek out new ties for work, me shoes and purses, and Tayair T-shirts.  During President Obama’s run in 2008 we must have purchased a dozen different styles of campaign T-Shirts.

In the ’90’s, and during our early years of marriage we would rent space at New Castle Farmers Market.  Selling surplus household items as well as those tight jeans and barely-there club dresses with hubby practically giving those away – lol!  Now as a couple we go for fresh veggies, vitamins and herbal teas, boy how times have changed!

OOTD – Tuesday's Testimony

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday, it’s another dark, damp and dreary day but my prayers were answered so for that I am thankful!

Driving into work this morning I was thinking about a financial situation and became a little depressed. When I got to my desk instead of reading today’s passage from “Our Daily Bread“, I read the scriptures on page 64, of “Gods Promises for every day“, What to do when you feel Worried“.  In less than 5 minutes my phone rang with an answer to my prayers,

Tuesday’s Testimony – God is Good!

Give all your worries to him, because he cares about you – 1 Peter 5:7

Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God, and Trust in me.”  John 14:1

Today’s outfit is a Tribal Throwback, hubby had these matching vests made during our first year of marriage in 1991, you know that newlywed stage when it was cute to dress alike!   #2 son wanted his father’s vest, but he said, “no, wait until I retire and then you can have all my clothes”, so I gave him mine.

This morning I shopped my son’s closet for my vest.

Anniversary Dinner at Chesapeake Inn Restaurant & Marina

Last week I asked hubby if we where going out to dinner for our Anniversary and if so, where?  He suggested Ali Baba in Newark but I wanted something more elegant however, didn’t offer an alternative.   Leaving the house a decision still hadn’t been made but it didn’t matter because hubby needed to break his fast (Ramadan), so he grabbed a box of Triscuits and we decided as we drove down the driveway.

The Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, Maryland is close to home and elegant enough to celebrate a Wedding Anniversary. Hubby was in a better mood once he had a piece of warm bread and a cup of hot tea. (old man) – lol.   The Chesapeake Inn has been in operation for several years, I still remember my first time there, they had Steak TarTar as an appetizer, now raw meat is no longer a menu option nor a healthy eating choice.   The Inn overlooks the C&D Canal with small boats and mini yachts docked as the owners drink and socialize on the deck below the Dining Room.   There is also a separate entrance to a club with live music where adults can drink (responsively) and party the night away. Our server, Julie was fantastic and the salads and entrees were excellent.  Hubby had a Red Oak Salad and Stuffed Flounder, I had the Cobb Salad and Maryland Rockfish which was served with rice and perfectly steamed squash and zucchini.  The Cobb Salad was large but contained only small traces of fresh crab meat.  For dessert I ordered Peach Cobbler a la Mode but it contained a bit too much cinnamon for my liking.  Hubby ordered a slice of Red Velvet Cake and along with half of my  entree we took it home, it was awesome the next day.

Maryland Rockfish, steamed veggies and rice. Peach Cobbler a la Mode

It was a perfect Anniversary Dinner and we look forward to another 22 years of marriage!
