Hello friends, I trust you all had a wonderful week and perhaps are now gearing up for the best holiday of the season – THANKSGIVING!
I don’t know about you but I think the industry is pushing Christmas way too early, I am still eating Halloween candy! The commercials, the songs, and now the decorations three weeks before Turkey Day is a bit much for me,
What are your thoughts?
Anywho, I finally broke out the winter boots and have worn my favorite pair twice last week, the over-the-knee suede boots and I am lovin’ them.
Today’s Sunday Style Roundup is featuring only two outfits and they are both entitled “Black N Boots” I also wore one of my Infinity Scarves purchased from Burlington Coat Factory to break up all the black in this outfit. The dress is a sleeveless sheath from Ross and the blazer is thrifted from Goodwill.
I always feel so corporate in a blazer and Goodwill is definitely the place to go for them.
In this second outfit the skirt is Worthington and cowl neck are both from JCPenney. The necklace was a new piece thrifted from Goodwill.
Lovely fall leaves
Today I am also featuring my oldest son, Tayair, not for what he’s wearing although he is handsome in his suit jacket. He spoke at his CLSC Open House on Tuesday evening. CLSC is the University of Delaware’s Career and Life Studies Certificate program, a 2-Year, non-residential college certificate program for young adults with intellectual disabilities and I was very proud of him!
What do you think, have they started promoting Christmas too early?Enjoy the rest of the week!
Hello friends and welcome to another week of Sunday Stylin Roundup. The last two weeks of summer were fantastic in Delaware, as a matter of fact the entire summer season was fantastic and Autumn is starting out just as nice.
The four outfits being featured this week include a lot of black, but who doesn’t have a lot of black in their closets?
In this outfit there is a mix of black, beige and steel grey. The skirt is JCPenney, tank and shoes are thrifted and purse is from Burlington Coat Factory. The choker has been in my jewelry box for a long time, as a matter of fact, I believe it once belonged to my grandmother.
I hadn’t done much shopping during the summer, however, this dress was one that I did buy at Ross. The Buddha Bag was purchased last year during Shop Small Business Saturday, and the Mia heels are from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. The necklace was a Flea market find and the bracelet was $1.25 from Burlington Coat Factory.
Leaves falling on the pool deck made for a perfect backdrop for this Blue by the Pool outfit. This is another skirt from JCPenney, top from Marshall’s and I won the necklace from a fellow blogger. The thrifted beige pumps and bracelet from Old Navy completes the look.
I love turquoise blue – how about you?
In the last outfit you can tell that the temperatures are beginning to change as did my wardrobe. I will be wearing more long sleeves, blazers and cardigans so I spent more than 6 hours last Saturday in my closet, check out these before and after pics.
Unfortunately, I still have the spare bedroom to clear out – I had bags and bags of items to be donated to Goodwill – “Donate Stuff Create Jobs!”
I am not ready to cover my tootsies or wear tights, so I will continue wearing peep-toe shoes until the first snow fall.
How about you, are you ready to pull on the boots or shop for more summer styles? If you want to shop for more, go check out the sales at Shoedazzle or the BUY ONE GET ONE FREE SALE at JustFAB
Today is my 53rd Birthdayand later on I will be celebrating it with my hubby and son with a dinner down at the Christiana Riverfront.
In the meantime, I thought I would post a few summer outfits that didn’t quite make it to the blog. However, if you follow me on Instagram you might remember seeing some of them in a “Fashion after Fifty” post.
You know how much I love black and white polka dots, so with this outfit I accented it with gold accessories. Both the top and pants are thrifted, the purse is quite old as are the sandals. The bracelet was purchased at the QVC Outlet in Frazer, PA, Avon watch and the ring is from Old Navy.
This was another Casual Friday with white jeans and sequins top which I had never worn during the day, but hey, YOLO and I’m over 50! The purse was found at Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop in West Chester, PA and the studded sandals are staples in my closet.
This was another fun outfit, with the pink lace top, pink gingham shoes from Rugged Wearhouse and multi-color purse from Ross. I chose to anchor the outfit with a black pencil skirt.
And finally my all time favorite outfit of the season, mixing brown and blue with a studded top thrifted from Goodwill, faux Jimmy Choo purse and multiple bangles from Old Navy. The faux Snakeskin pumps from Target are a pair of my favorite pumps so they will be worn a lot this fall.
So what do you think, not bad for an old lady huh…?
I trust you are all getting back into the swing of things after the long Labor Day weekend – just think tomorrow is Fri-Yay! I spent most of my weekend clearing out the basement and was able to gather a lot of items to be donated to Goodwill.
I am thankful to be blessed with an abundance, however, sometimes it can be a bit too much so donating the excess is always a good thing – Donate Stuff Create Jobs.
Next week I will begin working on my closets so that I can create room for more stuff…
Speaking of creating room in my closet, these two outfits were put together with the same skirt. The skirt is a thrifted find from Goodwill and because brown is a great color for summer as well as fall you will probably see it again next month.
The top was on clearance at J.C. Penney and the purse was also a great find however, not from Goodwill but from Ross. My accessories, the bracelets on the left and watch are from Avon, the bracelet on the right and ring are from Old Navy.
For this look, I wore a leopard print top also thrifted from Goodwill and large Jimmy Choo inspired bag. Necklace and earring set is from Jewelrymax.net
With each outfit I wore my favorite Jessica Simpson peep-toe pumps from Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop. I am so thankful that the weather was perfect during the summer months after such a harsh winter. Let’s pray for a gorgeous Indian Summer and Autumn.
Even though I didn’t get a chance to wear a lot of my summer clothes, as I go through my closets, anything not worn in the past two years will be donated.
How do you decide when to get rid of clothing?
I am thankful that I am able to donate to Goodwill; I am thankfulthat we had a wonderful holiday; I am thankful to be attending my 1st SITS Bloggy Boot Camp in Philadelphia tomorrow and last but not least, I am thankful for my family, my friends and of course my faith.
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?
before we begin this week’s contest please hand me a tissue and then let’s do a group hug…because today is the day that my little birdie leaves the nest!
Yes, we are enroute to Bowie State University where he will be living for the next 4 years, and hopefully only 4! Where did the time go? I still remember his first day of school like it was just yesterday!
Oh well, on the flip side, it’s one less mouth to feed and another closet to store my shoes…speaking of which – welcome to Week 19 of “You Choose the Shoes“.
Thank you all for voting last week, but I had a feeling that the Montego Bay slides were not going to win – they were just a bit too busy. So congratulations to “Lady in Red“.
This weeks contenders are very similar in style and you will be choosing between shoes with a bow and a pair without a bow.
If memory serves me well these wedges, one pair Dollhouse and the other Bamboo were purchased at either Ross or Rugged Wearhouse. Today with them I am wearing a tie dye maxi skirt from Marshalls and a thrifted top and belt from Goodwill.
The no-bow pair, has juke rope around the bottom and are very comfortable.
The straps are adjustable and the color is neutral enough to be worn with many outfits.
The ‘bow‘ pair are also very comfortable, faux suede and neutral in color, however, the straps are not adjustable.
Okay, have you made a decision? Will it be the “bow” pair
I wanted to show you a dress that I had bought in early May at Ross Dress for Less. I originally had planned on wearing it at my son’s Graduation Party, but it was too see-through so I had to wear something else.
This however, would be perfect as a swimsuit cover-up, what do you think? I love the vibrant colors and embellishments in this gauze dress.
The orange sandals were a purchased from Charlotte Russe and are uber comfortable.
This tie-dye print can be worn with a variety of playful accessories.
This colorful, casual summer dress is perfect for weekend wear, when you are just hanging around the house, what do you think?
So long summer…can you believe today is the first Friday in August…time sure is flying by way too fast. I was actually behind several school buses yesterday morning, the kids didn’t look too happy but I bet their parents were!!!As you know, we have two sons heading off to college with Malik staying on campus, and there are a few items that I need to get for his dorm room. Bowie sent a brochure from Campus Market to help parents order the necessary bed and bath items that they may need.I drive past a Christmas Tree Shop, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Burlington Coat Factory and Ross everyday. If I can’t purchase what he needs from one of these stores it won’t get got, because we don’t pay a sales tax in Delaware.Congratulations to this week’s Featured Bloggers – thanks for sharing and linking up with us again. Welcome to Week 15 of You Choose The Shoes, I am glad that so many of you look forward to this weekly featurejust asmuch as I enjoy posting it.
Last week’s contenders were fun and the votes for each were coming in fast and furious but I think the red belt helped to push the winner over the top.
Now, this week’s contenders are a pair of newbies versus a pair of veterans. The newbies have been in my closet for years yet never saw the light of day and the vets are a pair that have been around and are definitely well worn.
Believe it or not, the newbies are the denim cut-outs with studs…I know right! Nope I’ve never worn them nor do I remember where I purchased them from, all I do know is that I was never going to get rid of them.
The wooden wedges are a summer favorite and I believe were purchased at either Ross or Rugged Wearhouse.
The denim dress was thrifted from Goodwill, bracelet and ring from Old Navy on clearance for $1.99 each! I got 6 different color bracelets and 3 rings, you know I couldn’t pass up that deal.
The chain necklace and earring set was purchased at the Rainbow Shops.
Now back to the shoes, which pair goes better with this
denim maxi dress?
Have you made a decision yet? Do you think denim on denim is too much? Let’s take another look at them with the dress and see.
What do you think?
Wood Wedge Sandals
OR
Denim cut-out heels – YOU CHOOSE NOW
(gotta love my expression!)
While you make a decision and leave a comment I’m going to run over to see Living in Mommywood and Whitney Nic James, then I’ll be back to respond. See ya later!
BTW, we are going to pick up Malik from Bowie this evening – I can’t wait!!!
How did you do with last week’s selection? It’s so funny because sometimes I get immediate comments on a particular pair and other times not so much, I guess it all depends on the outfit.
A few of you stepped outside of the box with the white wedges from Urbanog, I guess because of the colorful and sassy skirt, but the winner of last week’s You Choose the Shoes were both pair – yes, ladies and gentlemen it was a tie!!!
There’s a first time for everything and I want to thank you all for the vote.
Now on to this week’s contenders, which are both fun and funky, so I’m thinking this may too may end in a tie but we’ll see.
The red ones are a previous purchase from Rugged Wearhouse and the Black and Beige are a recent purchase from The Shoe Dept.
Okay, now I know you may say, the red because of the belt, but look how great the colors match up in the dress with the black and beige pair.
The dress is from Ross and take a look at the side zippers, they are brass which is also the same metal in the rivets on the shoes.
I chose to wear brass accessories as well, ring and watch are both from Avon and I can’t remember where I got the bracelet.
Are you ready to make a choice?
Will is be the red sandals?
OR
will it be the black and beige sandals?
One last look!
Leave your comments below. I am heading over to read some posts at the Bloggy Mom’s June Blog Hop and when I get back, I’ll respond.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
This week’s “You Choose The Shoes” may be a little bit more difficult because the shoes are similar in pattern and style, however, there can be only be one winner so I am really counting on you for this one.
Oh wait a minute, before we begin, here is the winner from last week’s challenge:
Thank you all for participating.
Okay, this week’s challenge is between Payless -vs- Ross
Because the dress is a simple purple sheath purchased from JCPenney, I knew it needed to be punched up with pops of color, so I added this necklace from Avon/Mark – what do you think?
Last season I wanted these pumps so badly that I drove to two Payless stores to get them. Thankfully, the Exton store called others and they found a pair in my size at the Concord Mall which is on my way home.
Okay, which ones do you choose?
You can see they are similar in color and pattern, but the heels on the Payless shoes are pink and the ones from Ross are gray. Can’t decide, take one more look then send me your choice.

BTW, hubby is now my photographer, which is why I may be smiling more. At first he made me nervous because he would give me these looks when I’d say, “nope, not right, let’s do it again“. However, I do think that he is enjoying himself but I have to watch him, otherwise, he’s focusing the camera on other parts of my body if you know what I mean!
