OOTD – Layering Leaves

Today is my “YAY-DAY” because tomorrow I’m off for a stay-ca-day to start the long Labor Day holiday weekend.  Today’s outfit is layered like the leaves on the lawn …. don’t go summer…please stay a wee bit longer (wiping away tears).  Not ready to put away the summer wear so I covered this spaghetti strap maxi with a front zip vest thrifted from Goodwill,  accented with a red belt from Ross.  Popping more of the red with earrings inherited from my lil sis who passed away in 1992, a bracelet from MizOutlet.com and covered one stone in my ring with red nail polish.  The polish is easily removed for a change of color to accent another outfit.  I thought about wearing red shoes but decided on these black and white stripped wedges from Marshalls.

Free Thrifted Haul

My co-worker knows that I love thrifting, she and I have even gone to Goodwill together during a lunch break.  She knows there is no shame in my game when it comes to thrifting clothes especially for my sons.  Last week she had a bag of clothes in her car that her son had outgrown, and asked if I wanted them.  I could sense she was a little hesitant with the offer because she followed up with,  “if you can’t use them, you can donate them to Goodwill”.   Of course, I said, “yes”.  Later in the day she put the bag into my car so I didn’t see the contents until I got home that evening.  This bag contained some great stuff for my son who will be starting back to school next week!

The shopping bag was filled with shirts, pants, shorts and jeans, all in excellent condition and smelling freshly laundered.  The name brand items included Old Navy, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, JC Penney’s and The Gap.  My sons were thrilled with the haul and each went through the items designating which ones they wanted.  The pants fit nicely around the waist, but hubby will need to alter the length because my co-worker’s son stands 6 ‘ 8″, taller than anyone in my house!   This was my first FREE thrifted haul ever!!!

OOTD – Gold Tone Gladiators

Why is it that when you are on vacation you tend to buy things that you wouldn’t normally wear at home. That happened to me while in Florida a few years ago when I fell head over heels in love with these gold tone gladiator sandals. Now I can count on one hand just how many times I have actually worn them! It’s not like they are uncomfortable, they are just a bit too shiny for my taste. I have decided to wear them just one more time before they are packed with the rest of the Goodwill donations.

OOTD – I Can’t Believe It’s Hump Day Wednesday

When the work week begins with a holiday it seems like the rest of the week just flies by ~ I can’t believe it’s already Hump Day Wednesday.

This skirt was thrifted and I was attracted to it because of the graduated colors as well as the elephant and giraffe prints. I was going to wear it with a sleeveless tank but instead paired it with this reddish-burgundy top purchased from Marshalls or Ross. The bronze Pesaro sandals are a closet staple and are my go-to slip on-s when I don’t want to wear higher heels.

Goodwill Deals – Gucci from the ’90’s

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.

I was going through my closet finding items to donate and I came across these 3 vintage Gucci purses which were thrifted from Goodwill in 1991.  My sister, Gloria worked at Goodwill in Dover for a year before her untimely death in 1992.

She and I loved shopping there even before it became popular.  Leather coats, hats, boots and these purses are among some of the items that I still have to this day.

What was your best thrift store score?
