Today is going to be another hot and humid summer day but it’s FRI-YAY!!!! When I got home yesterday it was still 99 degrees but today it’s supposed to be cooler and stay in the low 90’s. My outfit of the day are closet staples purchased a couple years ago and are my go to comfort clothes. White denim capris and a sleeveless top always feels good and is cool enough to wear in this weather. I ventured into the back of the closet to find my summer sandals, these are one of my favorites purchased last year from Bear Feet Shoes. My jewelry is always a mix of gold and silver and today I added a bronze ring, bracelets, and earrings. Bronze is a metal that I also like to wear especially in the summer.
I chose to cover the maxi dress with a top and belt because I’m not comfortable wearing skinny straps to work. The temps are expected to reach 100~ and we have a scheduled fire drill at 2:30 this afternoon so I might have to remove the top while outside.

Heeeeeelllllllloooooooo Summer!!!!!
Tonight’s easy breezy meal is Kraft Pasta Salad with tuna. This Is a good summer meal that is quick to prepare giving you more time after dinner to swim, walk or just relax. I used coupons when they were on sale at Food Lion paying less than $1.00 a box. I like adding fresh fruit which is a good compliment to the pasta.
With an overly warm winter and a very rainy spring it’s only natural that summer is barreling in with excessive heat. We have been given excessive heat warnings for today and Thursday with temps expecting to reach the high 90’s but feel like 100 degrees. This morning at 6:00 the readings were above 70. Stay cool, hydrated and safe!
Summertime fun in the sun calls for good music and these are my favorites – click on the links to see YouTube video. What are some of your favorite summer songs?
There are numerous published safety tips on how to stay cool during the excessive heat and I am definitely adhering to the one about dressing lightly.
Sundress was purchased on clearance last season at Burlington Coat Factory Bronze color sandals match the embellishment around the neck and are circa 2000
Sitting at one of the many stop lights on 202 South, I was looking through coupons and realized I had a $5 off $25 coupon for Old Navy that was about to expire. I love the Old Navy mannequins and commercials but I love their bargains more. Shopping at Old Navy is like being at a casino hitting mini jackpots because there are always marked down items mixed in among the regular priced ones.
I hit with two maxi skirts and a pair of espadrilles for $21.97.
Pennsylvania has some beautiful scenic views and I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by one of them at my workplace. Commuting almost 2 hours a day in major traffic is very stressful, but thanks to God’s gift of nature I am calmed at the end of the drive. I enjoy taking walks at lunch even dodging the geese poop because I know there are people who do not have the gift of sight to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

Last week while at Marshalls, I saw the Valerie Bertinelli clothing line and fell in love with this multi-patterned skirt. It’s a comfortable fit with a very high waist which I like because low riding clothes just don’t work for me.

My father, Talvage Cross, Jr., made me but didn’t raise me, I did love and respect him and he even walked me down the aisle on my wedding day in 1990. Â He’s dead and buried in Cincinnati, Ohio and there are times that I think about him but not usually on Father’s Day. Â The only time my sons saw him, he was in the casket and they were too young to remember the flight to Ohio let alone his funeral. Â I do regret that my sons never got a chance to meet either grandfathers, both of which are deceased.
My sons will never know the 2nd generation granddaddy love but they will always know their
father’s love.
My husband has an awesome relationship with them and for that Father’s Day will always be special for them but more importantly special to me!

I remember the days when you could purchase clothing at Goodwill for 1 or 2 dollars. Â Of course back then, thrifing wasn’t as popular or considered a chosen alternative to department stores. Â There were always vintage boutiques where you expected to pay more, but never at Goodwill – not until now. Â Here are a few items that I found at Goodwill in Thorndale, PA which ranged in price from $3.50 to $5.00, this location also receives unsold shoes from Target which is a good deal.
Pink Lois Snyder Dani Max Vest
Jaclyn Smith Beaded Gauze top
Mint Peek & Peck Collection Capris replaced a pair I thrifted but were cut too low in the waist / re-donated to GW
Christopher & Banks Purple, faux suede maxi skirt
Cambridge Country Denim Skirt I am going to bleach to give it a tie-dye effect
Blue and White stripped Maxi will wear around the house or as a beach cover-up
Lapis skirt same style as one purchased at Marshalls
I remember when these were the “it” shoes for the Spring from Target
New with tags
If you purchase shoes from GW, make sure to disinfect them using alcohol, bleach/water or disinfectant spray or all 3 – I always spray new shoes as well.
