Kevin Hart Gives Back
Hello Friends and Happy Saturday
You’ve probably heard that comedian and Philadelphia native Kevin Hart who makes people laugh on stage, in movies and on television in the Real Husbands of Hollywood recently gave back to his school district
Kevin Hart, 34, who grew up in the area near 15th Street and Erie Avenue donated 500 Sony touch-screen laptops to the district and the Parks and Recreation Department.. “Literally seeing the kids putting the computers to use put a smile on my face.”
“I am what I am today because of Philadelphia. This city made me … All of my education came from this city,” Hart told the students and staff at Hartranft School as Mayor Nutter and city and school officials looked on.
Having been successful in stand-up comedy, movies and reality television, Hart said he wanted to help the city with its education challenges.
“You now have the ability to take these computers and do what nobody else can do, which is learn right now,” Hart told the students in the school’s auditorium. “I want you guys to take advantage of this, man. This is something I’m very, very serious about.”
Two hundred computers were given to 27 recreation centers and 300 were donated to eight schools, including Leeds Middle School, McCloskey, Rhodes and Weir.
Thank you Kevin for giving back, this is a great lesson from which we all should learn.

Thankful Thursday
Hello Friends and Happy
This week I am thankful for:
being a Stylist for Goodwill’s 2014 Runway Fashion Show (click Here)
spending a couple of hours shopping with #2 son – without him complaining
seeing a “Welcome Home” sign for a returning VET in our neighborhood (click here)
taking a nap Sunday after Church – I really needed it
finding pants that fit – which is why I wear dresses and skirts
and of course, my family, friends and faith!
Trying to find pants that fit can be a pain in the you know what!
The leaves are falling as quickly as the temps. Do you think the snow flurries on Monday are an indication of a severe winter ahead?
Top – Walmart // Pants – Boscov’s
Infinity Scarf – Burlington Coat Factory
Shoes – Kmart // Ring (Aqua) – Beauty Supply Store // Ring (purple) – Avon
Okay, it’s your turn – What Are You Thankful For This Week?

Goodwill 2014 Runway Show
Hello Friends & Happy Hump Day Wednesday
If you read last week’s Thankful Thursday post, you’ll recall that I was asked to be a Stylist for Goodwill’s 2014 Runway Fashion Show. You all know how I feel about Goodwill Industries and how excited I get when presented with an opportunity to work with them.
Goodwill will always have a special place in my heart because of all that they do for people in the community and because they were there for my sister when she needed employment. I am so completely over the top with excitement to be helping out with this fantastic fundraising fashion event!
Thursday evening all of the Stylists were invited to the main Goodwill location on Lea Blvd for a meet and greet and to obtain our Stylist Shopper’s Pass and information packages. Last year I was invited to participate but wasn’t able to and was surprised to learn that Kim Krzanowski whom I had met at the Delaware Today Fashion Show, (Best Dressed Delaware Woman) was last year’s Head Stylist. This year (with a heavy heart) she will not be able to take on that role solo due to pending motherhood, but will hang in as long as she can before her due date.
Saturday morning we returned to Goodwill to meet our models and to talk about outfit selections as well as to make plans to shop with or for them in the coming weeks and months. This year the outfits will be selected based on these themes:
-
Beach Party
-
Modern Western
In addition to the Runway Show, there will be a Second-hand Chic Boutique. “Look fabulous for less when you shop for one of a kind, name brand items hand-picked by our stylists. Brands include Ann Taylor Loft, Coach, Marc Jacobs and more!”
The Goodwill Boutique will be open for shopping from 6 – 7 p.m. and at the conclusion of the show. If you want to to shop early you can upgrade to a VIP ticket and begin shopping 45 minutes before general admission begins.
If you would like to be a sponsor and/or purchase tickets, please go to
www.goodwillde.org/runway, proceeds to benefit a scholarship fund for Goodwill employees wishing to obtain their GED or an Associates Degree.
I’ll keep you posted once the shopping trips begin….this is going to be so much fun!
Have a fantablous day – Smooches!

Veteran’s Day 2013
Hello Friends and Happy Veteran’s Day
I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and if you are off today honoring a Vet I do hope that you are enjoying the day, unfortunately for me I have to work.
The month is already flying by, can you believe that we have less than 18 days until it’s Thanksgiving 2013?
This is what I wore on the first casual Friday of the month which was by far the best beginning to November that I can remember. After an early morning mini downpour, the temps rose to 78 degrees with bright sunshine, it was almost summer like.
Do you remember this pink suede jacket that I thrifted last year from GW Boutique? The sleeveless tank was thrifted earlier in the year also at Goodwill.
I found these “pink bottom” loafers at Rugged Wearhouse – aren’t they cute?
Have you started planning your Turkey Day meal or will you be eating at a relative’s home instead?
We haven’t made any plans and I am not looking forward to asking hubby because it will be the first one without his mother….maybe we’ll just stay home and have a quiet dinner.
Thank You Vets for all you have done for this country – Stay Blessed!

Slow Cooked Cranberry Turkey
Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
Friday’s Foodie Feature
Slow Cooked Cranberry Turkey
Ingredients:
Turkey Breast Tenderloin
1 small onion diced*
1 can Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce
1 cup Barbeque Sauce
Salt and Pepper to season (optional)
Spray Crock Pot with Cooking Spray
Add Turkey Tenderloin and sprinkle with salt and pepper if desired
Add diced onions, cranberry and barbeque sauce.
Cover and cook on LOW 4 hours
When I got home I could smell it, but it wasn’t a good aroma, it was the smell of burning meat, my son turned the Crock Pot on HIGH!!!! “Waste Not Want Not” so we ate it anyway with Stovetop Stuffing and String Beans!
Hopefully our Thanksgiving turkey won’t suffer the same fate!
