Archive for the ‘Fashion After Fifty’ Category
I have decided to get back to the foundation of my blog DeDivahDeals ~ Fashion and Fun after Fifty and will be posting more outfit’s of the day (#OOTD) These posts won’t be long in commentary so SEO will be low.
Most of the outfits featured will probably be ones that you have seen before with a little twist. However, since I have cut back on shopping and Goodwill thrifting I will only be featuring closet staples.
As women we all have preconceived notions when it comes to what’s a good fit for our body type. For example, I always felt uncomfortable about purchasing “body con” type skirts. But I fell in love with this mint green and polka dot skirt from The Rainbow Shops and took a chance on buying it.
Had I known that it didn’t look as bad on me as I had thought, I would have purchased another one in fuchsia. Unfortunately, I had waited too late in the season so when I finally went back there weren’t any left in my size.
The black peplum top was purchased from JC Penney when they had a store in the Exton Square Mall. Since they are no longer there it gives me yet another reason to stay out of the mall! #bloggers4jcpenney
This gorgeous two-tone purse is from Avon (Mark) and I love the mint accent on the side which makes it a perfect accent for the outfit.
The patent leather slides are Jessica Simpson brand from Marshalls, also purchased several years ago. The ring is Avon and the multi-color rhinestone bracelet with hints of mint was probably picked up from Burlington Coat Factory.
Believe it or not, the statement necklace is a flea market find that I colored with nail polish!
I love a good jewelry DIY especially when it involves stones and paint or in this case polish.
Is there a particular item of clothing that you feel doesn’t flatter your figure?

Business Casual Cute
Oftentimes I have client meetings after work, so I try to wear something comfortable and cool because I usually won’t get home before 8 at night. I love pencil skirts and sleeveless shirts, black being my favorite color because of its slimming affects.
With this outfit, I decided to break up the black with red accessories, and jazzed it up a bit with an animal print. Do you remember this Cascading Vest which was provided to me from Covered Perfectly to review? Well believe it or not it has been hanging in my closet unworn ever since.
These Jessica Simpson peep toe animal print shoes are one of my favorite consigned finds. I literally wear them all year round, well at least if there’s no snow on the ground.
The red tote is a Walmart purchase and the red bracelet and ring are both from Old Navy.
What do you like to wear when you have a long day and want to keep it business casual cute?

You know, I should have taken offense to the guy at work who said I looked like a Construction Cone…no, he didn’t really say that but I know he was thinking it. Didn’t matter because I love this colorful vest from Old Navy and chose to wear it to brighten up a cold wintry day.
A few weeks before the Blizzard of 2016 made an appearance I was still wearing dresses and skirts to work, but I think I’ll stick with pants and sweaters for a few weeks or until the first signs of spring appear.
This work outfit is basic with a grey skirt thrifted from Goodwill, turtleneck from Walmart and the vest from Old Navy. Black tights and my suede booties from The Shoe Dept completed it.
You may recognize the Statement Necklace from Walmart and the multi-color bracelet I think was purchased from Burlington Coat Factory.
How do you brighten up an outfit on a cold or dreary day?

Hello friends, if you read Monday’s post with the review of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid then you will understand why I entitled today’s OOTD post “Wrapped in Luxury”.
Driving the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited was definitely a luxurious experience, one that I do hope to duplicate in the near future. A few hours before the driver from DriveShop was scheduled to pick up the Hyundai Sonata, I starting thinking about how I would spend the last few hours wrapped in luxury both inside and outside of the vehicle.
This faux fur from Chadwick’s has been hanging in my closet for several years now and it very rarely makes an appearance because it never really gets cold enough to wear it. However, I have a funny feeling that is going to change very soon.
Although we have been blessed with a very mild winter, not a snow flake in sight, I know that it is just going to be a matter of time before we get slammed with something close to, but may not exactly be another Polar Vortex so I am getting prepared now.
I have begun sorting through my thrifted sweaters and I found this one as well as few other turtlenecks; pulled out my booties and suede boots, then checked the hall closet for my hats, gloves and scarves, now I think I’m ready – BRING IT ON!
How about you, what’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Are you ready for “ole man winter to make an appearance or has he already or maybe it’s warm and sunny where you are, leave me a comment below.
UPDATE : WE GOT SNOW ON SUNDAY!

Believe it or not I finally had an opportunity to do a little holiday shopping last weekend but since both of my sons are older, they don’t need much of anything so basically I just bought groceries.
I did however, pick up a Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker for Malik and along with a white bathrobe that I ordered from Amazon that finished my shopping for him. I didn’t know what to get Tayair and he adamantly told me that not only did he not want anything, he didn’t need anything. I may go against his wishes and stop at Old Navy tomorrow to pick him up a pair of pajama pants and a sweater.
In addition to weekly groceries from Walmart SuperCenter I also picked up the ingredients for a Slow Cooked Chili and thankfully the store wasn’t as crowded as I had anticipated.
I don’t wear jeans very often, but when I do, I like wearing ones of color and these red ones were perfect for a weekend shopping trip which by the way were previously purchased from Walmart.
The multi-color scarf and over sized top were thrifted from Goodwill and the Blue Suede Booties were purchased many years ago from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. The purse was purchased from the Unique Freak, LLC when I attended the Meet the Greek event last month and it has my sorority letters on the side. #SigmaGammaRho
Sunday, I drove down to Bowie State University in Maryland to pick up Malik and as you can see from his face, he was definitely glad to leave and start his month long winter vacation.
Friday I attended the #FridayFuelUpDE holiday party, check out my YouTube channel to see more pictures and food from this great party.
Speaking of food, I baked Chocolate Chip Cookies on Saturday night while watching the Democratic Debate and then once I got home from Maryland made the Slow Cooked Chili on Sunday – too many calories but both were very tasty!
I do hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and if we don’t get another opportunity to chat before Friday – MERRY CHRISTMAS!

In Style with Avon Activewear
I am loving this unseasonably warm weather because we all know that it’s just a matter of time, a few weeks from now when the first snow flakes will begin to descend, but until then, I am wearing short sleeves!
This outfit is a recent Avon Insider purchase and it will be available in Campaign 2, next month in 2016. Wow, 2016…where did the year go?
The Serene Lounge Set is a relaxed-fit lounge outfit with ribbed collar and kangaroo pocket. The comfy pants have drawstring and an elastic waistband, as well as pockets. Made of Polyester/viscose/and spandex, is machine washable and dry and is $39.99.
This 2 piece set is perfect to not only lounge around the house after church as seen here or for a casual weekend run-around-town outfit. It would also be great to wear while you’re traveling whether it’s by train, plane or automobile. It can be dressed it up with a pair of booties and oversized jewelry or just kept comfy with simple jewelry and sneakers.
On Sunday, hubby felt well enough to take these pictures so I took full advantage of it and decided to play around with this “in style” with “InStyle” photo shoot. I just love seeing Viola Davis on the cover of the January issue, do you watch her in “How to Get Away with Murder?”
Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Believe it or not, I haven’t even started, but my sons are older and don’t really need anything so I can hit the stores this weekend to pick up a few “stocking stuffers”.
Although it’s too late to order and have it shipped to arrive by Christmas, take a look at the latest Avon catalog for fresh looks in makeup, jewelry and more for the New Year.
DISCLOSURE: I am an Independent Sales Rep for Avon so if you place an order via this link, I will receive a percentage of the sale but it will not increase your cost.

Although I am not quite ready to start wearing boots full time because it makes me think about snow, I did however, wear a pair last week. I also wore my little black suede booties which I prefer because they are uber cute and comfortable.
This colorful striped dress was thrifted from Goodwill and not only do I love the wonderful colors but also that it is forgiving. It hugs where it’s supposed to and it’s loose where it needs to be!
I chose to wear a multi color bracelet but now that I see this pic, it appears lost!
Pencil skirts and short sleeves are my go-to outfits for work. I do not like to be overheated and I would rather wear short sleeves under a sweater or blazer and you ladies of a particular age know exactly what I mean. #menopause
I normally wear silver tone jewelry with black so with this outfit I have on silver hoop earrings, multi-strand silver tone necklace, silver cuff bracelet and zebra stripped silver ring and watch.
Next week I will be wearing my blue suede booties of which I have two different pairs so stay tuned for those outfits of the day.
How about you, what do you like better, over the knee boots or do you prefer to wear booties?
Happy Thanksgiving – eat, drink and be merry!!!

The calendar may have said November, but earlier in the month Mother Nature had some major hot flashes. Two weeks ago the temps were in the high 70’s breaking all sorts of records, but finally the Autumn weather has settled in here in the Mid Atlantic area.
As previously stated, the only thing I really liked about Daylight Saving Time was having a brighter morning to photograph OOTD pictures. However, depending on the time, some mornings the sunshine can be intense and overwhelming as you can plainly see from this picture.
I think I may have also mentioned in previous posts that I prepare my outfits for the entire week on Sunday nights, undoubtedly I must have missed the weather forecast for this week when I chose to wear this particular outfit. It was however comfortable despite the temps nearing almost 80 degrees!
Long sleeves and cowl neck shirts are my favorites especially paired with pencil skirts and this one was purchased a few seasons back from JCPenney. Ever since they closed the store in the Exton Square Mall which was very convenient to shop at during my lunch hour, I haven’t had an opportunity to visit any the other locations. I had always loved their clearance racks and they always had the cutest pencil skirts out of all the other retailers that I have shopped.
These shoes were purchased from Ross, my “Betty Boop” shoes as I like to call them are quite comfortable because of the platform. The scarf was purchased from Avon and it makes a great “mix and match” print when paired with the skirt – what do you think? The other accessories are silver tone which I normally pair with black and white outfits.
Soon it will be time to bring out the big and bulky sweaters of which I recently thrifted a few at the local Goodwill store in West Chester. When you get a chance, go check out the mini haul video on my YouTube channel and let me know what you think.
Have you started your holiday shopping yet, if not, check out the latest Avon catalog for some great holiday gift ideas!

Indian Summer and Superfoods from Snyders
I don’t know about you, but I am truly enjoying this time of the year, what is normally called Indian Summer. Friday was an absolutely gorgeous day once the fog lifted so short sleeves were definitely the call for the day.
Autumn attire with it’s vibrant colors, patterns and prints should always include a little Animal Print which is why I love these Jessica Simpson Peep Toe pumps. They are by far one of the best Consignment Shop finds that I have ever purchased.
Would you believe that the rest of the outfit, excluding the earrings and bracelets was also thrifted from Goodwill…yes, the purse…the skirt…and the top #totallythrifted – gotta love it!
Saturday it rained, so I took a few bags and boxes of clothing and household items to be donated to Goodwill then picked up a few sweaters. Stay tuned for a mini-haul vlog, #DonateStuffCreateJobs
Oh and speaking of Indian Summer, have you started preparing your harvest menu for the holidays? Early Friday morning, hubby and I stopped in at Dutch Country Farmer’s Market in Middletown. I saw some of the freshest and most colorful fruits and veggies of the season on display at Snyder’s Produce, my mouth was watering!
I cannot wait to make a few batches of “good ole homemade” soup with some of these beauties and as soon as the oxtails arrive, there will be a big ole pot of Slow Cooked Oxtail Stew for a weekend meal.
What do you like most about this time of the year?
Leave a comment below then get outside and enjoy more of this beautiful Indian Summer weather!

Although I enjoy wearing dresses, skirts and heels to work, I do however, occasionally like to dress down especially on casual Fridays which is why I recently wore this outfit to work.
These stretch jeans were purchased from Walmart #WearWalmart and the top was thrifted from Goodwill. I also found these loafers a year or so ago at Rugged Wearhouse but hadn’t worn them often.
With this casual outfit I thought they would be a nice compliment. Aren’t the embroidered “pink people” cute? They reminded me of a pair of 1960s “smoking loafers”, what do you think.
This outfit would also be perfect for the weekend, a Saturday outfit for “running the streets” or out with family and friends – what do you think?
The multi-color purse is a closet staple, purchased too long ago for me to even remember where but I am going to assume it was from Ross Dress for Less.
Do you have the option to dress down or have “casual Fridays” at your place of employment?
Well I’m outta here, I’ve got places to go and people to meet so enjoy the weekend and we’ll chat on Monday.
