Last Saturday night, hubby and I attended the Wilmington High School Class of ‘74 White Party held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. My husband actually graduated in 1975, but it was a 1974 Scholarship Fundraiser attended by many of the graduates including those from the classes of 1974 and beyond.
Needless to say, we had a great time and because it was an all white party I was able to purchase a new dress, which most of you would have seen if you follow me on Instagram. Hubby and I had gone shopping a few weeks prior where I found this cute dress at Boscov’s .
The shoes are closet staples but the purse was also a recent purchase from Steinmart, a store that I hadn’t shopped before. However, it won’t be the last time I shop there, because I also purchased a white lace dress for another #whiteparty which we will be attending in August.
Hubby custom designed his white suit from the World of Alfa, which is an online designer of men’s clothing created by the actor Boris Kudjoe.
The World of Alfa offers high styles at low cost and I must admit that we looked GOOD!
Not only did we look good but everyone in attendance was also looking good and feeling fabulous especially out there on the dance floor where we jammed to “blasts from the past”. The songs were spun by DJ Touch Tone and hyped by Lady B of Old School 100.3.
Please check out my Facebook page to see a few short videos.
We had a great time and had almost made it to the bewitching hour of 2:00 am which was the time the party was to end, but we left around 1:00 am, which was still a late night for us both.
There was a cash bar and finger foods, also a few vendors and photo booths but I found the “charging station” to be an added bonus so that I could keep my phone’s battery from dying and losing out on some great pics.
Driving home hubby and I talked and laughed about the good time we had and we are looking forward to next month’s event in Townsend, Delaware which is being sponsored by hubby’s fraternity, Omega Psi Phi.
So how was your weekend?

On Thankful Thursday February 1st, 1996, I gave birth to a healthy son, al-Malik Glorian Blake, his first name in Arabic means “King or Monarch”. His middle name was given in memory of my sister, his aunt Gloria whom he never met.
On Thankful Thursday May 22nd 2014, I watched that son walk across the stage at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware to receive his High School Diploma.
I am thankful but where did the time go?
As a young boy, I helped him learn how to walk and then last week he walked out the door a High School Senior with his Cap and Gown…walked into the gymnasium with a glow of excitement and anticipation, yet filled with anxiety of an unknown future…he then walked back into the house a High School GRADUATE…soon he’ll walk again, but this time it will be off to College.
I am thankful but where did the time go?
Where Did The Time Go?
It was a beautiful Thankful Thursday and the weekend was filled with family and friends with love and support because “it take a village to raise a child!’
I am thankful for my family, my friends and of course my faith. I am thankful for the love and support that I receive from my family and friends and they will never know just how much it all means – I am thankfully blessed!
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?

Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
If you are the parent of a high school student who will be attending the prom this year, you’ve probably heard about “Promposals“. If not, let me explain, a promposal is when a guy, or girl asks someone to the prom but in a unique way using a sign, clothing, a prop or a photo.
These teenagers can get really creative with songs and videos and there are even promposal pics on Instagram and Tumblr as well as Twitter, Facebook and of course YouTube, just Google it using the hashtag #promposal.
A few weeks ago when I first heard about this, I rushed home to ask my son, but I was too late as he had already promposed to his date. (and no, that wasn’t a bottle of alcohol).

Promposal @ AppoHigh
I think they are cute as long as the teens don’t go overboard or take them too seriously like a marriage proposal. Over the top promposals are not necessary and may cause stress to others who may not want to or can’t do them.
Senior Proms are a special once-in-a-lifetime event but they are also costly, so there’s no real need to add additional expenses into the mix.
What do you think?
Don’t forget to come back at 6:00 p.m. for the Weekend Wind-Down Party!

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
My youngest will be entering High School as a Senior which means no more standing at the bus stop in the rain…he drives, and no more back to school shopping…he wouldn’t be caught dead shopping with his mother…besides he has his own Debit Card.
His last year in High School is bittersweet but it doesn’t mean I can’t go “Back to School Shopping” and take advantage of the end of the season sales.
I may not be doing this…
But I can do this…
Which is what I did at TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory!

Jessica Simpson Wedge Shoes @ TJ Maxx

Floral Dress – $15.00

Black & White Stripped Maxi – $19.99

Unlisted loafers – $19.99

Bandolino Blue Patent Leather Wedges – $19.99

I didn’t purchase, but these Bandolino pumps were so comfy @ $24.99

Leaving TJ Maxx I saw Barbie, a true fashionista, whose skirt and top were purchased at Nzinga’s Boutique. A perfect outfit to wear out and about running errands or shopping (s/o to Steve aka Ken – lol)

Next I drove down Naamans Road to Burlington Coat Factory at the Tri State Mall

Maxi Dress – $14.98

Floral hi-low dress – $6.98

Infinity Scarf $5.98

Infinity Scarf – $4.98
I also purchased a pair of CitiClassifed Pumps ($9.98) and Yellow Evening Bag ($7.98) – I love clearance racks just as much as thrifting!
Next year we will be paying College tuition so there will be no more Back to School Shopping for me, also bittersweet!
Have you done any Back to School shopping or taken advantage of the end of season sales?
