Hosting to Self-Hosting
Hello Friends, I have made the change from WordPress.com to WordPress.org and am working to ensure that you, my followers have been transferred over as well.
I have a lot of broken links so please bear with me until I get all the kinks worked out.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Good luck with the new address . May i know what prompted you to switch? Sara
Right now I want to say, stupidity because I am so frustrated! I have a 5-year plan for my blog which includes monetizing which isn’t allowed with WP.com and I want to “own” it and not be at the mercy of WordPress if they decided to shut down or worse, lose all of my posts.
This is great! Such a key milestone! I have been considering the same type of change myself as I also want to move towards monetizing my blog as well! I feel inspired to do so even more now! Looks great!
Yes, the goal to monetize my blog was the ultimate deciding factor. I chose “Blogelina” to do the transfer, I’ll let you know if it was worth the cost.
Really interesting move. We have considered the same. Will be really interested to hear how you get on.
Well, I paid to have it done with hosting via GoDaddy. I will read my “WordPress for Dummies” book and provide a verdict in about 30 days.
I will look forward to see how this works out for you. I have wanted to do this for so long. I just don’t like that we can’t carry the like button with us…what do you think about that?
I am still playing around with it and the verdict is out – but will keep you apprised.
Congrats for the big move….I had been contemplating the same but not having the courage for the leap…waiting for your verdict.
ok…stay posted
Same here but I’m lazy! Good for you for taking the leap. 🙂
Well I am not as technical as I thought so it is definitely a learning experience!
Hey Deb, thanks for connecting! I thought I would look around your Blog and I really like it. I was actually considering switching from Blogger to self hosting on Godaddy, I have 3 domains through them, I have 7 Blogs on Blogger, 4 are used solely for affiliate marketing, my Nook Blog brings in a lot from Amazon sales. You have to decide if you want your main Blog full of product reviews with affiliate links or create several Blogs…for difference niches.
Thanks, just working on 1 blog now and learning WP.org and the various plugins. Hope you had a great day!
