I was born in 1961, the decade known for free love, drugs, Go-Go Girls, Rock and Roll, The Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Hippies, the Birth Control Pill, The Peace Corp, Dr King, President Kennedy, assassinations, integration, Space Explorations, Cuban Missile Crisis, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, The Beverly Hillbillies, Afros, Crew Cuts, and of course the vibrant and colorful world of fashion.
The Past Is a Blast is a website that has culminated fun and interesting facts about the ’60’s, including popular music, dances, sports figures, politicians even the minimum wage, which at the time was just a $1.00, go check it out.
I was too young to fully understand it all but do remember that I loved the fashion and styles of the ’60’s, the bell bottoms, platform shoes, neon colors, color blocking and pattern mixing…hey, isn’t that the style of today?

Loved my bell bottoms and my super bell bottoms. Those swimsuits are trending now. Just keep things (and if you can still fit into them) they usually come back around 🙂

I remember those clothes. Since I was more of a child of the 70s, this reminded me of my most favorite skirt ever, an a-line skirt with a triangle of rainbow colors. I loved that skirt. Visiting from Class of June.
Yes, I’ve always loved those skirts as well, and in the 70’s they reintroduced the Poodle Shirts of the 50’s, remember?

Super cute post! I love some of the fashion from the 60’s. I particularly like the swimsuits and the duster with the slick pencil pants that are almost like leggings. I remember Lucy wearing that look on I Love Lucy.

Accessories with PEACE sign is cool. The bellbottoms…. Mom said they called them floor sweeper, lol, though I can see myself wearing that if it becomes the fashion again.
Floor sweepers, that’s cute and so true! I like bellbottoms much better than “elephant legs” because I almost killed myself wearing them. They are back but not a wide as they were in the 60’s and 70’s . Have a fantastic evening!
