The summer is flying by too quickly, and I have been trying to wear as many pairs of my sandals as possible before it’s time to cover up my tootsies.

With this outfit, which is a dress from Ross Dress for Less and purse from Avon I have chosen a pair of yellow flats also from Avon and a mustard color wedge again from Ross Dress for Less.
I find wedge sandals to be very comfortable but flat sandals are always better for driving. The yellow bracelet is from Old Navy and to it I added a few miscellaneous bangles.
The necklace was purchased from an online jewelry store. I am not sure where I purchased the ring but most likely it was from Burlington Coat Factory.
So have you taken a vacation yet? Hubby and I have decided to wait until the fall and then take a mini vacation to a Caribbean Island for a little rest and relaxation before the new year.
Malik, our youngest son will be returning to Bowie State University in a few weeks. He has been working two jobs this summer so that he can return back to campus with extra funds to handle his “extradentials” – which is definitely a load off of our plates.

Okay, so which pairs of sandals would you have chosen to wear with this dress?
I hope you have a Happy Hump Day and will enjoy the rest of the week!

They were so nice that I wore them twice…as a matter of fact, I think I have worn them more than twice since the last “You Choose The Shoes” episode. I just love the black and white print with the solid yellow heel and pairing them with this red dress which is also from Avon was a great match.
However, don’t let me muddy the waters because the other shoes which have a floral print are just as nice so you be the judge.
Once again I chose to highlight the yellow heels with a yellow purse, this one was purchased from Kohl’s last season. I then decided to change it up with a black clutch purse from The Rainbow Shop.
The dress has a cinched waist so it’s a bit more flattering and less clingy. The accessories for this outfit is a Goldtone coin necklace and an over sized multicolored bracelet to coordinate with the floral pink heels…that’s if I chose to wear them.

So what do you think, which pair would you have chosen to wear with this dress? I was thinking that maybe the chunky heels were too over powering but it seems as though chunky heels are back in fashion for the season and can be worn with any outfit.
Thank you to all who voted last month in the “You Choose the Shoes” episode #4. The overwhelming majority chose the Avon print so perhaps they will win again…let’s see how they fair this month.

Hubby and I are still working out together every morning in the basement and in trying to keep up with these early morning workouts I have found that if I “dress the part” I will “act the part” . So check out my latest look in this ActiveWear outfit from Avon.
This two piece ActiveWear outfit can be found in the Avon Catalog Campaign #4 and if you remember this post I am preparing myself to attend a Yoga class in town this Spring.
This Sienna Ridge Active Top and Pant are perfect for a basement workout or for wearing to a local gym or club. Made of Polyester and Spandex each piece is machine washable and dry. The Claremont Active Tote Bundle comes with a tote bag and a 22 oz water bottle.
The bag measures 10.5 H x 14” D x 8.5 W and has a double handle and detachable shoulder strap with a top zip closure. There is also a zippered lower compartment to carry your sneakers. The 22 oz water bottle is aluminum with a rubber top.
These Vista Memory Foam Performance Sneakers have a cool print and bright neon laces. They are flexible, lightweight and treaded for great traction. Memory foam footbed with leatherlike and mesh uppers makes these sneakers for the gym or for running around town worn with jeans.
I think this is a great look for in and outdoor Activewear, what do you think?

Ringing in the New Year with Avon Bling
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and if you celebrated Christmas you and yours had a very merry one. Can you believe that in less than a week, we will be entering a New Year – 2016!
I can’t remember the last time that hubby and I went out on New Year’s Eve, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to wear a little bling to ring it in and of course have a glass of bubbly too.
There are, however, a few other New Year’s Eve traditions that I have which include:
- making sure all the clothes in the house are clean;
- Collard Greens and Black Eye Peas are cooking on the stove;
- Fried Chicken Wings are prepared but most importantly;
- at midnight we are all on our knees in prayer.
Since I am home and not out partying I’m usually wearing a big comfy sweater with leggings, both of which provide great comfort while eating and drinking and of course watching The Twilight Zone marathon on the Syfy channel.
This year along with these comfy clothes I will also be accessorizing my outfit with a few Pretty Party Pick pieces from Avon.
Cuff Bracelet
item #476-480
Hoop Earrings
item # 476-461
Band Ring (size 8)
item # 477-157
I also bought the Ear Cuff earrings, item #476-476 which I will most likely wear to church on Sunday.
If you click the catalog below you can see the additional Pretty Party Pieces available in this set, including a Collar Necklace and Necklace and Earring Gift Set, all available in Campaign #1.
There are also some comfy clothes, including that grey Serene Lounge Set that I wore last week which will be available in Campaign 2.
What are a few of your New Year’s Eve traditions?☺
Disclosure: I am an Independent Sales Representative for Avon and if you place an order via this link, www.youravon.com/ablake48 I will receive a small commission but it will not increase your cost.
Happy New Year…Happy New You!

Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 ~ Week 5
This week the choices are both open toe and back strap, Payless versus The Shoe Dept.
These cognac sandals are quite comfy but they didn’t get much wear last season.
On the other hand, these Fioni’s from Payless were worn quite a bit during the season, I just wish they were available in other colors.
Next week you may not see much of my right leg because I burned it with hot grease. I was pulling the pan of baked chicken out of the over and it slipped, I grabbed the pan with my hand burning my fingertips and the grease splattered along my leg – it was painful!
The skirt is JC Penney and the top and purse were both thrifted from Goodwill.
I am wearing the Jord Watch and tomorrow is the last day to enter for a chance to win! So which pair do you choose?
Thank you all for voting last week…and the winner was…
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!
