Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Learning Something New Everyday

One of my grandmother’s favorite sayings was, “you learn something new everyday”, it didn’t matter how old she got because she left this world at the age of 98, still learning something new.  When I started this blog in February it was an outlet to share my shopping trips with others because I no longer had Mama to share them with.  Oftentimes I over shopped to compensate for my loss but blogging about it made me feel better.  I used to post it on Facebook but felt my “friends” weren’t quite interested in my shoes and outfits so I decided to blog as a personal diary for myself.  One of the best things about blogging are your followers, they make you feel good when they post a comment or just simply checking the “like” button.  However, when you are nominated by a fellow blogger for an award it’s even more special and it’s an opportunity to “pay if forward”.

In April I was nominated for a “Versatile Blogger Award” by The Lipstick Giraffe, being a neophyte I didn’t know that there were things to do in order to accept the honor, I just simply replied “thank you” and kept on blogging.  Now that time has passed and I’ve learned something new I am now finally accepting this honor properly and completing the required tasks:

  2. Ex-smoker – 35 years, clean for 3 years – yay me!

  3. 1st “big girl” kiss was with Ray Rice’s great-uncle – yes, Ray Rice from the Baltimore Ravens, and no, he wasn’t even born yet

  4. Afraid of Ferris Wheels, even the little ones at local carnivals

  5. Am an orphan, both parents and both sets of grandparents are deceased

  6. Named my son after an actor (Malik Yoba) and my sister, Gloria who was killed in 1992,  I let hubby hyphenate his first name – al-Malik Glorian Blake

  7. Want to retire on an island renting fishing poles and bait!

  • I am left-handed, however I can use my right hand for everything except writing
  • I love the old, classic sitcoms – Dragnet, I Love Lucy, Hazel, Gidget, Leave it to Beaver, etc.
  • I got engaged at the age of 16 – thank God I dodged that bullet – what a knucklehead
  • I put hot sauce on anything that is not sweet
  • I was a Semi-Finalist in the 1980 Miss Delaware Pageant
  • I have a BS in Elementary Education – taught 1 year and resigned when I made more $ as a secretary for IBM – so sad too bad because I liked teaching
  • I can’t relax – I am always doing something, I have trouble sleeping because my brain refuses to shut down
