Women’s Network Microsoft Mixer

Last Friday, I along with a few other women business owners attended a Fundamentals of Word 2016 workshop.  We each had signed up to learn more about the key features and functions of Microsoft Word 2016 as well as network with one another.

This 60 minute workshop was held inside the Microsoft Store at the Christiana Mall.  We were seated in an area of the store where we were also able to snack on an array of sandwiches, salads, and giant cookies from Panera Bread.

The Fundamentals of Word 2016 workshop was conducted by Microsoft employees, Eric and Errol both of which were very knowledgeable.  With each of us seated at a table using a loaner Microsoft Surface Pro we were able to follow along as they provided information and instruction geared towards all levels.

Whether you were a novice or an advanced user of Microsoft Office software, there was new and exciting productivity tools that could be incorporated into each of our individual businesses.

The Workshop was a Women’s Network Mixer sponsored by the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce in celebration of National Women’s History Month

Not only did we walk away with valuable information to be more collaborative and productive but, we also had a chance to mix in a little laughter and levity as well.

OOTD – Before & After Church

Hello friends, I hope today, the beginning of your new week was a blessed one. I was tired this morning but vowed to get to church and thankfully I did. Service was good but it was “Harvey Day” so it was a bit more crowded and lasted a lot longer, ending at 2:00. I would have stayed for dinner but needed to go grocery shopping so I rushed home, changed clothes and headed to Costco and Safeway.

Traffic on 95 was horrendous, took the exit ramp into the mall only to realize that the traffic lights were out and all the stores in the mall and Costco were closing. We didn’t wait to find out why there was a power outage just quickly turned around and headed back south to Safeway.

I wore a sleeveless dress to church, thrifted from Goodwill covered with a 3/4 sleeve jacket that belonged to my grandmother (RIP Mama). My Mossimo heels from Target, clutch from DSW and “lap cover” scarf from Boscov’s.

After church it was still warm so I threw on a pair of shorts also thrifted from Goodwill, top from Walmart, loafers thrifted from Salvation Army and a belt from my closet.

I hope you have a fantabulous evening!

OOTD – Thrifting Thursday

Yesterday’s staycation day was planned for dental, orthodontic and doctor appointments but I did manage to get in a little thrifting.  I had wanted to go to the Christiana Mall for the Fashion Night Out (FNO) events but it didn’t start until 6:00.  Wanting to be home before six I instead stopped at the Salvation Army.  Not having been to the Salvation Army since 1996, I noticed a drastic change for the better and will post pics, my thoughts and of course my finds this weekend.

Vacation Day with the doctors

20120906-130944.jpg

I am on staycation today but it’s not being spent lying poolside, instead it’s in and out of doctor offices. Tayair had dental appointment for two cavities on his front teeth and then an orthodontist appointment to put the wires back onto his braces. He usually goes solo to his appointments but I needed to go for a consult with the orthodontist. Now that Tayair is 20, he will be undergoing facial surgery to correct his elongated jaw bone. Age 20/21 is the normal time that a person face has reached it’s lifetime size.

Tayair was born 3 months prematurely with a myriad of medical issues so he is used to surgery, but it has been 15 years since his last procedure and I am a little nervous. The surgery is considered routine by the surgeon but cosmetic so the cost will be out of pocket. We have to do what we have to do, and it will be an improvement for him so it’s worth it (hello more debt).

Heading out shortly for my annual GYN appointment in Wilmington. Depending on what time I get done I may stop at the Christiana Mall for tonight’s FNO activities.

Hope you are having a fantabulous day!
