Well I did it, I finally cleaned out my walk in closet…well at least the the top right half of it…don’t judge, I’m getting there! Anywho, in doing so I realized that I don’t have as many long sleeve dresses as I need for Autumn, but instead of buying or thrifting more, I am going to simply wear a sweater or in this case a denim jacket over them.
It was the first day of the work week so I grabbed this denim jacket which has been hanging in my coat closet for over 5 years to wear over this cap sleeve blue dress. This was one of the summer dresses that I had purchased from Ross, do you remember? You know the saying, “everything old is new again”, well you can definitely say that about this jacket as evidenced by the animal print around the collar and sleeves.
So along with my standby animal print peep-toe shoes which was an obvious choice they made the outfit complete, what do you think? Oh, and the necklace was also thrifted new from Goodwill.
On Casual Friday, which as you know is the only day that I wear pants or jeans to work also included denim, or Chambray as some may call it. This chambray shirt has Avon embroidered on it, so I covered it with this long duster which was thrifted from Goodwill a few years ago. Wearing it along with my black jegging jeans from Walmart and clunky shoes from Kmart, I was comfy casual on a Friday.
Do you any denim clothing other than jeans? I have a few more denim shirts so you will see them in another outfit of the day post.

Hello friends,
well last week’s contest proved one thing – you CAN wear too much denim, the votes were overwhelmingly in favor of the wedge heels. Not that you didn’t like the denim shoes, it was just that they were too much with the maxi denim dress.
I now need to find an appropriate outfit to wear with them because I love them, otherwise, they’ll sit in the closet for another year.
This week’s contenders are Target verses Rainbow Shops. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the two pairs of sandals that I purchased a few weeks back, 2 pair for $20, definitely a deal that I couldn’t pass up. I got a pair of flats and these white heels.
The also came in black and cognac which I should have also gotten. These yellow Mossimo pumps were purchased last year as part of a major shoes haul from Target – remember that one?
The dress is one of those “I can’t believe someone actually donated this” Goodwill find. I absolutely love how it fits and look forward to wearing it every summer!
It has a unique collar which is another reason why I like it so much. Okay, now take a look at the shoes and then choose which pair goes better with the dress.

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.
Welcome to Week 15 of You Choose The Shoes, I am glad that so many of you look forward to this weekly feature just as much as I enjoy posting it.
Last week’s contenders were fun and the votes for each were coming in fast and furious but I think the red belt helped to push the winner over the top.
Now, this week’s contenders are a pair of newbies versus a pair of veterans. The newbies have been in my closet for years yet never saw the light of day and the vets are a pair that have been around and are definitely well worn.
Believe it or not, the newbies are the denim cut-outs with studs…I know right! Nope I’ve never worn them nor do I remember where I purchased them from, all I do know is that I was never going to get rid of them.
The wooden wedges are a summer favorite and I believe were purchased at either Ross or Rugged Wearhouse.
The denim dress was thrifted from Goodwill, bracelet and ring from Old Navy on clearance for $1.99 each! I got 6 different color bracelets and 3 rings, you know I couldn’t pass up that deal.
The chain necklace and earring set was purchased at the Rainbow Shops.
Now back to the shoes, which pair goes better with this

Hello Friends and Happy Thursday, I hope you are having a pleasant day.
Yesterday I spent the day cleaning out closets gathering clothes to be donated to Goodwill which is what we did this afternoon. Malik drove and after donating two boxes of clothes and two tv’s we drove by a dumpster where he saw two speakers – yes, he got one, brought it home; it worked so he went back and got the other one (que the theme song to Sanford and Son)

Hello friends and Happy Hump Day and Halloween Wednesday.
I am finally back to work after being off since last Thursday and it’s all good in the neighborhood! This denim riveted skirt has been hanging in my closet for almost a year, hubby gave it to me and I love the big side pockets. I was in search of a pair of booties from Goodwill but found these at Rugged Wearhouse for $10.00 (woohoo). I am not overly impressed with the pairing of the shirt, so my next search will be of a plaid to give the outfit a more country look, right now it’s a little Gypsy!

No makeup, heels or jewelry, only shorts/tanks, sandals and a bathing suit for 5 wonderful, sun-filled days. Whether it’s called a VACATION or STAYCATION, living “the Life of Riley” is a beautiful thing. Sleeping in late; eating breakfast on the back deck; poolside lounging; laughing with and loving family and friends was the perfect way to spend the long July 4th Holiday. It was also the first time that we did not go out to watch fireworks, I did however, watch Wawa Welcome America and loved Lauryn Hill’s surprise performance. I was also able to watch more of the Twilight Zone Marathon, “Time Enough At Last” with Burgess Meredith is my favorite episode! I did do a little yard work and paid the price with my annual case of poison ivy – oh how I hate the itch!!!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and now it’s back to reality!
