What I Wore Last Week – Part 3

Summer Wear For Women Over The Age Of Fifty

No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn’t wear all my summer dresses, skirts, tops, tanks, shorts, shoes or sandals this season, which only means one thing – it’s time for a major purge!

fashion after fifty

Last Saturday I had a Yard Sale which was a bust, perhaps it was the weather or the holiday but I ended up donating over 10 boxes of clothing and household items to Goodwill.

My weight fluctuated this summer and went down 14 lbs thanks to the Medifast Program, however, I still haven’t reached my targeted weight goal.  Fortunately, Sheath Dresses are very flattering so they will always be a part of my wardrobe.

This is one of my favorite sleeveless Sheath dresses and I have always wanted to find and thank the woman who donated it to Goodwill!

If your weight fluctuates due to menopause or other health issues, Goodwill and consignment shops are perfect places to find clothing on the cheap.  During the month of September, clothing is only $2 on Tuesday at Goodwill in Delaware and Delaware County which will save you even more.

yellow wedge shoes

These were the yellow wedge shoes from Avon which I had worn with the dress in yesterday’s post.  If you look closely at my leg, you will see the beginning of a poison ivy outbreak which is in it’s 2nd week!

This is also the yellow purse from Avon which I wore with the dress in that post.

what to wear in the summer

Tomorrow I am going to go through all my closets and pack up any clothes and shoes that I did not wear this summer – no exceptions!  accessories sold at Avon

However, I will keep sleeveless tanks like these as I can always transition them to the fall with a sweater or blazer.  There’s that yellow purse again!

Wearing Walmart

The sleeveless tank was also thrifted from Goodwill and the skirt and statement necklace was purchased from Walmart.

The black sandals turned out to be my summer favorites and who would have thought that I could have found them at Sears!   Well time to get into that closet and get rid of anything not worn this or last season and next week we will kick off the outfits with maxi skirts and dresses.

What I Wore Last Week – Part 2

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I’m back with another work wear OOTD and this time it’s my second favorite color combination – black and yellow or as I like to call it my “Bumble Bee” combination.

I think I may have posted this dress before, but since I liked it so much I decided to give it another a second post.  However, this time I chose to wear my black sandals from Sears as opposed to the yellow wedge sandals that I wore from Avon.

dressing for less from Ross

The purse however, is from Avon and the necklace was a gift that I received from the crew in California from the Depend Commercial Photo Shoot.  Do you remember that post?  If not, relive it here!  The bangle bracelets were purchased from Burlington which I wore to the Wilmington White Party.

work wear

I love this dress from Ross and might have to check back to see if they have it in another color – I think it would be great in green, what do you think?

Well tomorrow is the last day of posts from this week’s “What I Wore Last Week” and it will actually be a two-fer.

What I Wore Last Week

Well, the summer is almost over and soon it will be time to put away the short sleeves and pull out the sweaters and blazers.  But before the first leaf turns, and the autumn winds begin I have to get in the last of my summer work wear wardrobe worn.

  fashion after fifty

For the rest of this short work week I will be featuring “What I Wore Last Week” outfits. These posts will be short on commentary but long on pictures so bear with me until next week when I will post articles with more subsistence!

Here we go….

accessories from Burlington Coat Factory

You know that I will wear white before Memorial Day so I will definitely wear white after Labor Day and I love this thrifted white skirt from Goodwill because it has a unique silver embroidery pattern through out.

Floral shoes from Payless

I chose to pair it with a fuchsia form fitting top and floral shoes from Payless and the pink and purple purse was purchased from Burlington Coat Factory.  Hubby bought me this ankle bracelet over ten years ago, it used to be engraved with the boy’s name, but they have since worn away.

The other accessories include a multi-color bracelet and pink stone ring which I believe were also purchased from Burlington Coat Factory and the watch is Avon.

How do you feel about women over the age of 50 wearing ankle bracelets and toe rings?

Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see ya tomorrow in another outfit that I wore last week.

Would You Wear Walmart to the White House?

A few weeks ago hubby and I went to Wally World –aka- Walmart to pick up a few groceries but of course, we each stopped in the clothing section first and yes, we both put something in the cart other than milk, bread, and eggs.

Hubby found a few shirts for Tayair to wear to work and I found a few skirts and tops for me to wear to work!

casual clothing from Walmart

I normally wear dresses to work but their Faded Glory skirts are 95% cotton making them great for the end of the season, perfect to wear on the hottest dog days of summer.

They were also only $6.88, so together with the top the entire outfit was less than $10 and you know that made it perfect for my wallet!

clothing from Walmart

The long necklace was purchased from Avon and it comes with matching earrings which I didn’t wear, instead am wearing a pair of small gold hoops.

The clutch was purchased last season from Kohl’s and was a good way to break up the blue.  The bracelet is from Old Navy and if I am not mistaken the watch was also purchased from Avon.

fashion after fifty

Gotta love these denim wedge sandals which I think worked well with this casual outfit from Walmart.  As a matter of fact, I was going to wear this outfit on our tour of The White House but instead wore the dress.

What do you think would wearing Walmart to The White House be appropriate?

You Choose The Shoes – July Edition

The summer is flying by too quickly, and I have been trying to wear as many pairs of my sandals as possible before it’s time to cover up my tootsies.

With this outfit, which is a dress from Ross Dress for Less and purse from Avon I have chosen a pair of yellow flats also from Avon and a mustard color wedge again from Ross Dress for Less.

I find wedge sandals to be very comfortable but flat sandals are always better for driving.  The yellow bracelet is from Old Navy and to it I added a few miscellaneous bangles.

The necklace was purchased from an online jewelry store.  I am not sure where I purchased the ring but most likely it was from Burlington Coat Factory.

accessories from Old Navy

So have you taken a vacation yet?  Hubby and I have decided to wait until the fall and then take a mini vacation to a Caribbean Island for a little rest and relaxation before the new year.

Malik, our youngest son will be returning to Bowie State University in a few weeks.  He has been working two jobs this summer so that he can return back to campus with extra funds to handle his “extradentials” – which is definitely a load off of our plates.

Okay, so which pairs of sandals would you have chosen to wear with this dress?

Boho Chic – WIWW – Fashion After Fifty

Hello friends and happy Hump Day Wednesday.  This week’s Fashion after Fifty OOTD is another closet staple and my version of “Boho Chic”

These palazzo pants were purchased several years ago from TJMaxx and they were an extra, extra large, but because I loved them so much, I bought them anyway and tacked them on the sides.

What I Wore Wednesday

As some of you know, we, the boomers of the 60s weren’t overly concerned with “what went with what or what didn’t go” with a certain style, which is why I mixed the accessories in this outfit.

Mixing silver, gold, resin, and brass bracelets, rings and necklaces made this such a fun and funky way to dress up a plain white tank top from Walmart.

fashions that never go out of style

The sandals also have Goldtone rhinestones in them so once again the mixing and maxing of accessories added to the fun of this Boho Chic yet casual Friday outfit.

I can’t remember where I purchased the leather purse but it must have been an an Afrocentric Boutique as evidenced by the continent of Africa emblem.

Afrocentric Boutique

Everything old is new again which is why this like the tie dye maxi dress from last week’s post will remain in my closet for several more years.  This is another classic outfit that will never go out of style.

Staying Cool in a Maxi Dress – WIWW

&

Top of the World Link Up Party

The heat is on and I need to stay cool so my go to style for these hot and humid days are maxi dresses with this one being one my favorites.  I like that the upper portion is solid red with the lower portion being a multi-color tie dye print.

Tie Dye Maxi 3.JPG6536

Tie Dye prints are another one of those classic fashion combinations as referenced in last week’s post.  The multi-color patterns created in tie dyed clothing is what makes and keeps them popular.

what to wear in the summer

As a boomer who grew up in the 60’s, I am glad that this style is something that hasn’t gone out of style or died away like vinyl records, cassette tapes and 8-tracks – do you remembers those?

8-TrackTape

Speaking of 8-tracks tapes, I still have a box of them in the garage which once belonged to my uncle, and please don’t ask me why I am still holding onto them!

The red purse was purchased from Avon and the orange sandals I believe are from Old Navy.  The necklace and bracelet set is also from Avon.

I am enjoying the heat and humidity of the summer because I know that in less than 90-days we will be preparing for the winter of 2016!

WIWW OOTD Black and White Zebra Print

There are several basic, yet classic combinations that will never go out of style and today I am featuring just one of them – Black and White – if only black and white people could get along so well…

This week I feel that blogging about fashion after fifty and food is trivial especially with what’s going on in today’s world.  However, if we allow the negativity to over shadow and overtake creativity and positivity then we have given it more power than it deserves.

Praying that positivity always rises to the top!

Remember that childhood joke?

“This OOTD on my Blog”

Not a joke!

Read it then share it with your friends and followers!

classic black and white combination

This top and shoes are both closet summer staples which work well even if they are matchy-matchy, but hey, I’m a kid of the 60’s so I’ll match if I wanna!

Zebra print shoes

The shoes were purchased from Urbanog.com and I also have them in a Tiger print which will be featured before the end of the season.

The black and white purse is from Avon and if you noticed the bracelets, they are also a Zebra print which were ordered from an online store few years ago.  (forgot the name)

The black jeggings are from Walmart and the silver watch is also from Avon.

Now it’s time for you to chime in: other than black and white, what are some of your favorite classic color combinations?

Oh and more importantly, what did you buy on Amazon Prime Day???

Back to Basics – WIWW

I have decided to get back to the foundation of my blog DeDivahDeals ~ Fashion and Fun after Fifty and will be posting more outfit’s of the day (#OOTD)  These posts won’t be long in commentary so SEO will be low.

Most of the outfits featured will probably be ones that you have seen before with a little twist.  However, since I have cut back on shopping and Goodwill thrifting I will only be featuring closet staples.

Black and Polka Dots OOTD 3

As women we all have preconceived notions when it comes to what’s a good fit for our body type.  For example, I always felt uncomfortable about purchasing “body con” type skirts.   But I fell in love with this mint green and polka dot skirt from The Rainbow Shops and took a chance on buying it.

Had I known that it didn’t look as bad on me as I had thought, I would have purchased another one in fuchsia.  Unfortunately, I had waited too late in the season so when I finally went back there weren’t any left in my size.

peplum top from JC Penney

The black peplum top was purchased from JC Penney when they had a store in the Exton Square Mall.  Since they are no longer there it gives me yet another reason to stay out of the mall!  #bloggers4jcpenney

This gorgeous two-tone purse is from Avon (Mark) and I love the mint accent on the side which makes it a perfect accent for the outfit.

Black and Polka Dots OOTD 4

The patent leather slides are Jessica Simpson brand from Marshalls, also purchased several years ago.  The ring is Avon and the multi-color rhinestone bracelet with hints of mint was probably picked up from Burlington Coat Factory.

Believe it or not, the statement necklace is a flea market find that I colored with nail polish!

I love a good jewelry DIY especially when it involves stones and paint or in this case polish.

Summer Style Sneakers

You Choose the Shoes – Summer Style Sneakers

Hey guys, I know it’s not a new month but  it is close enough so I wanted to throw in this extra edition of “You Choose the Shoes” Summer Style Sneakers.

Summer is here and I am now a bit more casual in my attire, however, I do still wear dresses and skirts to work.  To be honest I really don’t like shorts but find capri pants are a bit more flattering on me.

This was what I wore on one of my free Saturdays when I needed to hit the streets and run a few errands.

Summer Styles

I chose to wear sneakers instead of sandals but couldn’t decide which pair looked best.   Do you like the floral prints or the stripes with these comfy, casual capri pants? You Choose the Shoes Summer Style   sneakers in the summer

There’s not much to say about the outfit other than it was perfect for the weekend and it was my favorite color – black!

The Tablet carrier is from Avon but purchased a few years ago, therefore, am not sure if it’s still available.

How about you, do you prefer lace up sneakers, slide-on sneakers or no sneakers in the summer?
