He was born way too early – 3 months premature weighing only 2.8 pounds

Then he was FIVE – last surgery to repair his esophagus…first solid meal…removal of feeding tube
(1997)
Then he was TEN – struggling in school but surviving…facing all odds..learning new things
(2002)
Then he was FIFTEEN – a teenager…tall and lanky…still unsure of himself
(2007)
Then he was TWENTY – a young man…a high school graduate…first job
(2012)
Today he is TWENTY ONE
(2013)

20 years ago today, I gave birth to a 2.5 lb, 3 month preemie who wasn’t supposed to live;
hospitalized until December 1, 1992;
RSV, pneumonia, asthma, respiratory distress;
too many surgeries and out patient procedures to remember;
NICU, PICU, Nurses n Kids
feeding tube inserted until he was five;
speech therapy;
occupational therapy;
Nebulizer, inhalers; Pulseox
Barium Swallows, Xrays, MRI’s
IEPs/Special Education/Mainstreaming
Prayers, Prayers and more Prayers is why he is here today celebrating his 20th birthday.
