Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!
Driving home last evening I started thinking about the old TV sitcoms that I loved to watch as a child, the ones that made me rush through dinner so I could lay in front of the television set until bedtime. We didn’t have a lot of homework so the only thing that might have cut into our TV watching time was Bible Study and/or Prayer Service at Church.
Now thanks to online websites like Retro Cafe, Hulu and YouTube as well as over the air stations like AntennaTV and Cozi TV, I can watch them anytime I want. Having only 3 stations and broadcasting ended at midnight with the playing of the Star Spangled Banner these were my top ten favorites.
- I Love Lucy
- Julia
- The Beverly Hillbillies
- Bewitched
- Leave it to Beaver
- Family Affair
- Gilligan’s Island
- The Patty Duke Show
- Hazel
- The Honeymooners
What wasn’t there to love about that zany redhead and her antics with Ethel – loved when they moved to Connecticut
The first time we ever saw a black woman not playing a maid and we loved her son
Come on Granny, you know you could have whomped Mrs. Drysdale – I always wanted to swim in the “cement pond”
Nosy Mrs. Kravitz and oh how I wished I could wiggle my nose to make magic
Wally and Beaver…really…come on June and Ward – I did like they had a bathroom in their bedroom
Something about Mr. Bill and Mr. French raising those kids it was such a sweet and innocent sitcom
Gotta love a feisty maid like Hazel, I often wondered if my grandmother acted the same way with the families she worked for
Really people…you could make a radio out of a coconut but couldn’t make a boat out of trees! Poor Gilligan
I could never figure out how Patty and Cathy could be in the same scene…but it was obvious they weren’t
Ralphie Boy…And away we go! I loved watching the “shadow” on the wall – and everything fit into that one dresser drawer
What were some of your favorite sitcoms as a child and why?

Hello Friends and Happy Monday, I trust you all had a wonderful weekend!
If you read my post on Saturday you know I went to Goodwill for their annual 50% off sale and it was like a department store’s Grand Opening. The place was PACKED, there were long lines waiting for the dressing rooms, people pushing full carts of clothing, laughter and excitement when new items with tags were found and clerks rolling out full racks every 5 minutes, it was an amazing sight to see. Although I had only planned to go to Middletown, I kinda sorta wished I had also driven down to Smyrna and Dover.
I did however go with the purpose of getting an “I Love Thrifting” t-shirt, which Goodwill introduced earlier this month for $12.00. I have never ever purchased an item at Goodwill for that much, but the $12 cost for t-shirt is supporting a worthy cause and I am a proud Goodwill VIP who loves to thrift!
I was also intent on finding clothing for the Fall because I have more than enough shorts, tanks and skirts for the summer season which is rapidly coming to an end. I thrifted a dress, 2 tops, a pair of culottes and two maxi skirts all for under $14.00 – #winning
I can’t wait for the next big sale and if you are not a Goodwill VIP, it’s free to sign up and you’ll receive emails with dates for these events.
Linking up today with Mommy Monday Blog – come on over and join in on the fun!

Have a fantabulous day!

Hello Friends and Happy Mother’s Day 2013!
Sending love to all the moms, mom-moms, nana’s, grandma’s, aunties, cousins, and friends on this beautiful Mother’s Day. Mine was nice and it started with breakfast in bed, hubby made me chicken and waffles with coffee and fruit then we stayed in bed watching a Hazel marathon on Antenna TV. This afternoon my sons took me to Ruby Tuesday for an early dinner, which is now our tradition because that is where they took me last year.
The best meal I never cooked!
Salad, Sirloin and Spicy Shrimp – Pomegranate Margarita
