Hello Friends and Happy Saturday!
Eighteen years ago today, I gave birth to my 2nd son, al-Malik Glorian Blake and now I sit here wondering – WHERE DID THE TIME GO?????
People would often say, “cherish the moments because they go by fast”. I remember when I just wanted him to sleep through the night…to learn how to walk…to learn how to talk…to learn how to feed himself…to be potty trained…to start school…to get his driver’s license and after all that happened…this is him today ~ an 18 year old mini man!

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
My youngest will be entering High School as a Senior which means no more standing at the bus stop in the rain…he drives, and no more back to school shopping…he wouldn’t be caught dead shopping with his mother…besides he has his own Debit Card.
His last year in High School is bittersweet but it doesn’t mean I can’t go “Back to School Shopping” and take advantage of the end of the season sales.
I may not be doing this…
But I can do this…
Which is what I did at TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory!

Jessica Simpson Wedge Shoes @ TJ Maxx

Floral Dress – $15.00

Black & White Stripped Maxi – $19.99

Unlisted loafers – $19.99

Bandolino Blue Patent Leather Wedges – $19.99

I didn’t purchase, but these Bandolino pumps were so comfy @ $24.99

Leaving TJ Maxx I saw Barbie, a true fashionista, whose skirt and top were purchased at Nzinga’s Boutique. A perfect outfit to wear out and about running errands or shopping (s/o to Steve aka Ken – lol)

Next I drove down Naamans Road to Burlington Coat Factory at the Tri State Mall

Maxi Dress – $14.98

Floral hi-low dress – $6.98

Infinity Scarf $5.98

Infinity Scarf – $4.98
I also purchased a pair of CitiClassifed Pumps ($9.98) and Yellow Evening Bag ($7.98) – I love clearance racks just as much as thrifting!
Next year we will be paying College tuition so there will be no more Back to School Shopping for me, also bittersweet!
Have you done any Back to School shopping or taken advantage of the end of season sales?

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
Today, my youngest begins volunteering at the Food Bank of Delaware. It’s so very hard to find summer employment for teenagers these days, and he needs gas money, so I made him a deal. He will volunteer 3 hours a day, 3 times a week helping to prepare free summer meals for kids, and I will pay him $50.00 a week for gas and savings.
As a 17 year old male, it’s important for him to build a good work ethic, but to have an opportunity to work in a field that gives back builds character. I want him to understand that not everyone lives a privileged life and that we all have an obligation to help others. Whether it’s in donating money, clothing, food or time, we should all reach out into our communities to lend a helping hand.
Growing up in a housing project in New Rochelle, NY, my sister and I attended summer programs that provided free lunches. Even back then, I knew this not only helped us but our grandmother as well, and that it was important to be grateful. It would upset me when other kids would smash the milk cartons or throw away the fruit, I knew there were others even less fortunate who would have loved to have had that milk or piece of fruit.
If your High School student is also having a hard time finding employment for the summer, consider a volunteer opportunity in your area, it can also be a good topic for their Senior Project.

Have a fantastical day – Smooches!
