If you recall in a previous post in which I talked about de-cluttering my closets then you would have realized that I have more than one, as a matter of fact, I have racks of clothes in both the guest bedroom as well as in the basement.
I started de-cluttering the basement racks first and donated several boxes of items back to Goodwill most of which were initially thrifted and then I moved on to the guest bedroom closet.
I still haven’t done my walk in closet, the one that I mentioned makes me nervous every time I open the door. I am not in such a rush especially since I can put together an outfit from items for the other closets. This outfit was actually saved from being donated, the multi-color top was in the basement and the green maxi skirt was in the guest bedroom and together they made an appearance on a cool crisp Autumn day.
The colors of the purse, purple and green was a perfect accessory for the outfit and it along with the necklace were also thrifted new from Goodwill. Believe it or not, I haven’t been thrifting in several months simply because I don’t need anything, nor do I have any room on the racks!
The tan wedge sandals weren’t thrifted, but were on sale at Kmart when I purchased them several years ago and they are very comfortable. I also bought them in black but had to order them online as they didn’t carry them in the stores.
The weather is still up and down here in Delaware so next week’s outfit will feature the black cap sleeve dress which was perfect for the Bloggers Night at the Grub Burger Bar event that I attended on last Thursday.
Are you listening to my Podcasts on Sunday? If not, you should because they will be some Giveaway Promotions going on as we head into the new year. Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger is every Sunday at 6 pm on Blog Talk Radio with AAU Teen Talk Radio.
Which closet do you dread cleaning out the most, your clothes closet, the kid’s closet or the coat closet?
No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn’t wear all my summer dresses, skirts, tops, tanks, shorts, shoes or sandals this season, which only means one thing – it’s time for a major purge!
Last Saturday I had a Yard Sale which was a bust, perhaps it was the weather or the holiday but I ended up donating over 10 boxes of clothing and household items to Goodwill.
My weight fluctuated this summer and went down 14 lbs thanks to the Medifast Program, however, I still haven’t reached my targeted weight goal. Fortunately, Sheath Dresses are very flattering so they will always be a part of my wardrobe.
This is one of my favorite sleeveless Sheath dresses and I have always wanted to find and thank the woman who donated it to Goodwill!
If your weight fluctuates due to menopause or other health issues, Goodwill and consignment shops are perfect places to find clothing on the cheap. During the month of September, clothing is only $2 on Tuesday at Goodwill in Delaware and Delaware County which will save you even more.
These were the yellow wedge shoes from Avon which I had worn with the dress in yesterday’s post. If you look closely at my leg, you will see the beginning of a poison ivy outbreak which is in it’s 2nd week!
This is also the yellow purse from Avon which I wore with the dress in that post.
Tomorrow I am going to go through all my closets and pack up any clothes and shoes that I did not wear this summer – no exceptions!
However, I will keep sleeveless tanks like these as I can always transition them to the fall with a sweater or blazer. There’s that yellow purse again!
The sleeveless tank was also thrifted from Goodwill and the skirt and statement necklace was purchased from Walmart.
The black sandals turned out to be my summer favorites and who would have thought that I could have found them at Sears! Well time to get into that closet and get rid of anything not worn this or last season and next week we will kick off the outfits with maxi skirts and dresses.
Do you remember my Kohl’s mini haul during the Labor Day weekend? Well I didn’t get a chance to wear the blue sleeveless dress, but I did wear one of the maxi skirts. I don’t know about you but I love high waist skirts and jeans so this was a perfect skirt to wear to work.
When I wore this outfit it was still relatively warm, but the weather has changed so it is definitely time for Autumn attire, so the next time you see this skirt it will be most likely be with worn with boots and a sweater.
What Fall fashions are you most looking forward to wearing?
The necklaces and bracelet were purchased from Avon and I will be doing another Giveaway soon, so please sign up for my Newsletter so that you can to get a jump on the announcement with a bonus entry.
The H&M purse was thrifted from Goodwill and the shawl is from Burlington Coat Factory.
Since I don’t normally shop retail I forgot to go back and use the $10 Kohl’s cash, however, I may pop over before the holidays to pick up a few more maxi skirts to add to my already overcrowded closet!
Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 – Episode 10
Last month before we left for vacation hubby and I shot two sets of You Choose the shoes episodes and so we will begin this week with the flats verses wedges.
I love this maxi skirt and striped tank which were both purchased from Walmart and I bet by now are on the clearance racks. So if you are looking to add to your summer wardrobe, may I suggest you head over there with a quickness.
Now take a look at the outfit and let me know which pair of shoes you would have chosen to wear with it.
The belt is a thrifted find from Goodwill and I think the necklace is also from Walmart. #WearWalmart
The flats are from Rainbow Shops and the wedges were purchased years ago from Kmart. Right now both of these stores are having great clearance sales so you can really dress for less! What do you think, I know it should be about comfort but believe it or not, the wedges are more comfortable than the flats, however, when it comes to driving, it’s better to wear flats.
Take one more look at both and let me know which pair you would have chosen for this outfit.
Hello friends and Happy Feel Good 1st Friday in June
Wow, where did the time go? Well just like May this is going to be short. These are just 2 outfits that I wore the weeks before Memorial Day and I simply entitled it
Red White & Aqua Blue
The jeans and dress are both from Walmart #WearWalmart
The flats are Payless and purses are Avon. I always wear this zebra tank with the zebra flats because I like the matchy matchy style…I did it with the bracelets too.
I love the casual A-line cut of this dress and there are a few other styles, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for when they hit the clearance rack! To jazz it up a bit, I added a gold tone chain belt which was thrifted from Goodwill and a chain necklace from Avon.
These flats are the perfect color for this dress and the sunnies were purchased at Goodwill.
I hope you a
ll have a wonderful weekend and Happy Fri-Yay!
I can’t believe that in only 3 more days, the men and I will be on flying off to paradise in the Dominican Republic. We all deserve this break and I am looking forward to spending time with hubby and my sons…which almost didn’t happen due to their expired Passports…but that’s a different story for a different day.
My blogs posts are all scheduled for next week including over at www.bloggingwithblake.com, so I don’t have to worry about posting while away. I will however, be taking lots of pictures so if you are not following now on Instagram and YouTube, make sure to do so today!
Cool in cotton is the title of this post and it’s a simple white polo shirt from Walmart #WearWalmart and a floral skirt thrifted from Goodwill. Staying cool in summer’s heat and humidity is vital as is drinking plenty of water.
Along with the pair of Ann Taylor sandals this outfit was perfect to keep me cool outdoors as well comfy inside the office.
I plan on wearing cool and comfy sundresses while on vacation and will be posting a daily OOTD hopefully at sunrise, as hubby and I plan on getting up and walking the beach each morning before then.
Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 ~ Week 5
This week the choices are both open toe and back strap, Payless versus The Shoe Dept.
These cognac sandals are quite comfy but they didn’t get much wear last season.
On the other hand, these Fioni’s from Payless were worn quite a bit during the season, I just wish they were available in other colors.
Next week you may not see much of my right leg because I burned it with hot grease. I was pulling the pan of baked chicken out of the over and it slipped, I grabbed the pan with my hand burning my fingertips and the grease splattered along my leg – it was painful!
The skirt is JC Penney and the top and purse were both thrifted from Goodwill.
I am wearing the Jord Watch and tomorrow is the last day to enter for a chance to win! So which pair do you choose?
Thank you all for voting last week…and the winner was…
Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 ~ Week 4
This week’s contenders are both from Paylessbut from different seasons.
The blue open-toe bow shoes were purchased about two years ago but I haven’t worn them as much as I should, they will be in heavy rotation this season.
The black booties were a recent purchase and I really like them so I’ll definitely be wearing these a lot as well.
Gotta love a cute pair of Spring suede booties!
I love these shoes but I definitely need some sun on these legs and a professional pedicure!
The dress is thrifted from Goodwill and is very comfy for wearing to work. Okay, so which pair did you choose?
Thank you all for voting last week in the black and white verses the red challenge…the winner was….
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. Ole’ Man Winter made an appearance earlier this month and dumped a few inches of snow across the Mid-Atlantic area. I used to love watching the snow fall, but now I hate it, driving in it is the worse…it took me over 3 hours to get to work! I was exhausted by the time I got there and I envy folks who can telecommute…unfortunately I’m not one of them.
Most of you know that I really don’t like wearing pants to work, so in order to keep warm on extremely cold and snowy days, I’ll wear tights and a pair of my suede boots. However, not getting them wet is nearly impossible so each season I make sure to spray them with a leather and suede protector.
This brand was purchased at Payless and it does have a strong odor, so make sure to use it in the garage or outdoors weather permitting. Now I can step deep into the snow or pose on the deck without worrying about messing up my boots.
Hello friends, the countdown to turkey day is on? Do you believe that I didn’t realize that Thanksgiving was this Thursday until just the other day. I kept thinking we had another week.
Anywho, here we are once again, a Sunday Stylin Roundup and in keeping with last week’s theme, today it’s Black N Bootie. I wore my booties with two different outfits both of which I love but of course the leopard prints are my favorites.
This vest was thrifted from Goodwill about 2 years ago, however, I’ve only worn it one other time. It is actually covering this Avon embroidered chambray shirt. The black suede booties are Unlisted purchased a couple of years ago from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. Necklace is from Jewelrymax.net and bangles from Rugged Wearhouse. You know that these are my favorite pair of booties – who doesn’t love leopard?
In both outfits I am wearing closet staples, black slacks, skirt and turtleneck which personally are not my favorites but the weather called for it. I wore the leopard print scarf to break up all the black. This outfit actually received quite a few compliments from co-workers.
I am using my old camera which for some strange reason is not taking as good of pictures as it used to, oh well I guess I’ll start using the Coolpix L830, however, it uses 4-AA batteries and I hate when batteries start to drain. Next week, let me know if you notice a difference.
Enjoy the rest of the day and I hope you finished your grocery shopping…I haven’t even started mine yet!
