Flying Flat Lined – The Glamour is Gone
Most of my readers will remember when flying was an exciting and somewhat glamorous adventure. Dressing up to board a large aeroplane was the norm, never traveling in jeans, sneakers nor flip flops and shorts.
Having to remove your shoes, belt, jacket, coat, coins, keys, wallet, jewelry then standing in front of a full body scanner with your hands held high…getting patted down by a TSA agent makes flying less glamorous and much more stressful and sometimes downright embarrassing!
Passengers are herded onto too small planes like cattle, charged more to check a bag and given miniature food items that should be part of a kid’s board game. A few sips from a can of soda to keep your mouth from becoming dry as the Sahara while praying there will be no turbulence.
No more hot meals, cold sandwiches, fruit and cheese platters or even headphones unless you are willing to pay extra for them…oh and by the way… there will be no cash or travelers cheques (remember them) transactions are now made with a swipe of a credit card.
Granted, not all the changes to air travel have been bad, at least there’s no more on-board smoking! However, the excessive fees, multiple city stops, too small seats and tiny bathrooms definitely makes flying less glamorous but it hasn’t stopped millions of people from doing so on a daily basis.
Now having said all of that the time has come for us to travel. It has been almost 7 years since our last family vacation to Orlando which is way too long! So I will endure the stress of flying because it comes with a summer vacation to Puerto
Plata!!!!
Head over to my new home!
The Delaware Blogger was on MadHouseTV
Most of you know that I host a weekly Podcast, Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger, which is live every Sunday at 6 PM EST on Blog Talk Radio for AAU Teen Talk Radio/TV/Magazine. The last live broadcast for the year was on Sunday and the topic was Social Media and the Church, it was my 15th Podcast and I must admit that when I first started I was unbelievably nervous. The shows on the 26th of December and 1st of January will be encore programs so if you missed them, make sure to log on to listen.
The show’s Executive Producers are Roger and Chevrona Johnson and they are also the CEO’s of the Whitney E. Johnson Foundation. I am very appreciative to both of them for giving me an opportunity to host my own Podcast, but was even more so when offered the opportunity to take the show on the road and host it live on cable at Madhouse TV Studio in Long Island, NY.
With everything scheduled for last Thursday, hubby and I drove from Middletown, DE to Long Island, NY which by the way was definitely not an easy trip, but that’s another story for a different day. However, I was able to drive the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate AWD which I was reviewing for Hyundai via Drive Shop USA so it wasn’t a bad ride.
Arriving at the studio a little past noon, my guest, Nikki Valentine, owner of N.V.Me Designs and her models were already inside busy preparing for the 2:00 show. Check out my Instagram page to see pictures of everyone getting ready as well as some great memorabilia inside the studio owned by Tommy Maher, aka The Woodstock Guru on Facebook.
Nikki and I were able to run through our script which we had previously written when she came to “shop my closet” the week before which you can see on my YouTube Channel. The topic of our segment was “Balling on a Budget – Outfits from the Office to Party Fab” and she and her models did a great job in featuring these outfits.
The link to the broadcast is below, so check it out and then come back and leave a comment as I am anxious to know how you liked the show. I hope Chevrona liked it as well as I would love to go back for another segment.
This is also going to be the last blog post of the year as I shut down DeDivahDeals and transfer it to DelBlogger and when I come back in the New Year, there will be great reviews and giveaways – so enjoy the holidays and be safe!!!
Don’t forget to leave a comment with your review of the show and let me know if you would like to see me back on Cable TV!
Slow Cooked Barbecue Turkey Legs
On Sunday spend more time around the tree with the family and less time in the kitchen with these tasty slow cooked barbecue turkey legs. Not only is this an easy meal to make but it’s also an inexpensive dish that’s easy on the wallet especially if you broke the budget buying gifts.
Ingredients:
Instructions:
Serve with a starch and veggie then sit back and relax with the family or with a good movie – enjoy!
Serves 4 to 6.
What do you think – is this a dish that you would make for the family?
Thank you all for your support in 2016 of

Top 5 Favorite Classic Christmas Movies
It’s a new week and a new topic so in keeping with the holiday theme and as an extension to Friday’s
5 Favorite Christmas Carols
these are my 5 Favorite Classic Christmas movies.
It’s a Wonderful Life
The story of George Bailey played by Jimmy Stewart wishing he had never been born is truly a timeless classic. However, when George meets Clarence the bumbling Angel trying to win his wings shows him what life would be like without him, there are some truly eye opening scenes.
And who can’t help but recite
“every time a bell rings an angel gets it’s wings.”
A Christmas Carol – the 1951 version
This version of the Charles Dickens’ timeless classic is my all time favorite one. Alastair Sim’s performance and his facial expressions as Scrooge are the best.
Christmas Story
This is definitely a “will not miss” movie classic especially since it’s on for 24 hours on TBS! I love Ralphie sexist attraction to that leg lamp which is now being sold at most major stores!
FRA’GILE
BTW – How many kids do you think put their tongue on a frozen pole to see if it actually stuck?
Miracle on 34th Street – 1947
Christmas and of course Santa is on trial but the holiday spirit wins everyone over. I love when the mail is delivered to the courthouse addressed to Santa. However, my favorite scene is the cane that sits in the middle of the empty room of Suzie’s new home
“I BELIEVE I BELIEVE!’
The Perfect Holiday
Morris Chestnut (need I say more) plays an aspiring musician working as a mall Santa. A young girl turns to this department store Santa in the hopes that he will help find a new husband for her divorced mother played by Gabrielle Union.
Honorable mention:
Charlie Brown Christmas
It wouldn’t be Christmas without this timeless classic and the song around the tree gets me every time!
What are your top 5 MUST SEE Christmas movies?
