OOTD – Foggy Morning

Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
I stayed up too late last night watching Chicagolicious and like the weather today my head is a little foggy. I had seen portions of a few episodes but never watched an entire show and couldn’t stay up last night either – I may have to check it out online. Today’s outfit has me feeling a little country, I only wished I had a a pair of cowboy boots, I’ll add that to my thrifting wish list.

OOTD – Thundering Tuesday

20120814-205749.jpg

This spring it seemed like it rained everyday and now at the end of the summer we are having a drought. Farmers across the country are having difficulty irrigating their crops and we will see price increases in the fall.

Today’s forecast was for heavy rains and thunderstorms and God didn’t disappoint. “He may not come when you want him, but he’s always right on time!”. Hopefully today’s rains helped with the crops throughout the state.

My outfit is a dress that was purchased last year from Burlington Coat Factory as well as the shoes from Payless. My purse also a few years old is from either TJMaxx or Marshall’s.

This post and pics are via my iPad and it took a minute to get used to it. I hope everyone had a fantastic day and that it continues as you slumber the night away!

Anniversary Dinner at Chesapeake Inn Restaurant & Marina

Last week I asked hubby if we where going out to dinner for our Anniversary and if so, where?  He suggested Ali Baba in Newark but I wanted something more elegant however, didn’t offer an alternative.   Leaving the house a decision still hadn’t been made but it didn’t matter because hubby needed to break his fast (Ramadan), so he grabbed a box of Triscuits and we decided as we drove down the driveway.

The Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, Maryland is close to home and elegant enough to celebrate a Wedding Anniversary. Hubby was in a better mood once he had a piece of warm bread and a cup of hot tea. (old man) – lol.   The Chesapeake Inn has been in operation for several years, I still remember my first time there, they had Steak TarTar as an appetizer, now raw meat is no longer a menu option nor a healthy eating choice.   The Inn overlooks the C&D Canal with small boats and mini yachts docked as the owners drink and socialize on the deck below the Dining Room.   There is also a separate entrance to a club with live music where adults can drink (responsively) and party the night away. Our server, Julie was fantastic and the salads and entrees were excellent.  Hubby had a Red Oak Salad and Stuffed Flounder, I had the Cobb Salad and Maryland Rockfish which was served with rice and perfectly steamed squash and zucchini.  The Cobb Salad was large but contained only small traces of fresh crab meat.  For dessert I ordered Peach Cobbler a la Mode but it contained a bit too much cinnamon for my liking.  Hubby ordered a slice of Red Velvet Cake and along with half of my  entree we took it home, it was awesome the next day.

It was a perfect Anniversary Dinner and we look forward to another 22 years of marriage!

OOTD – Happy Monday

Happy Monday, I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend. Hubby and I went to dinner at the Chesapeake Inn in Maryland to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. The meal was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant so we had a  nice evening as an old married couple sans our sons.

Today’s outfit is autumn-like in it’s coloring yet summer-like in it’s fabric and comfortable enough for today’s 87 degree weather.  The Octavia Thai Silk open-toe-pumps were on clearance for $12.97, and on the RocketDog website, they are listed for $59.95!

DIY Gel Manicure – PASS

As per my previous post (here) of buying nail polish at fiveBelow,  I finally used the Nutra Nail Gel Perfect manicure and have to admit that it was well worth the $5.00.   After wiping my bare nails with a little alcohol,  I followed the directions of unscrewing all the bottles and polishing nails with the activator first.  One hand at a time, immediately apply the color over the activator, then clean the brush before doing a second coat.

I repeated the same procedure on the second hand and after 15 minutes it still felt tacky to the touch.   I had used too much of the color polish but it hardened after I ran my hands under cold water which was suggested (old school).   The good thing about this product is that you don’t need a base or top coat and it dries quickly without the use of an ultra violet light which is used in the salons.

I wish it came in more colors because I would definitely buy this product again.

OOTD – Sunny Sunday

Sunny Sunday heading to the Shore…sike…heading to the grocery shore. I am no longer a shore or beach person as we call it here in Delaware. Driving for hours to lay on hot sand surrounded by a lot of people is no longer my cup of tea. Now if that beach is covered in white sand and deep blue water in the Carribbean I might change my mind…naw!

During my high school and college years I spent practically every weekend down at Rehoboth Beach, DE. My cousin Belinda and I would lay out from sun up to sun down covered in baby oil. My beloved Belinda is resting in heaven after being taken by Melenoma cancer at the age of 29, in 1993. To this day, just the thought of laying out in the sun with no protection all day on the beach is cause for major anxiety. I like to hang by the pool but now I am covered in a high SPF spray or lotion.
