This is an old post but I think it’s worth repeating, especially as the weather warms.
If your face is naturally oily or perhaps you get that “afternoon glow” on your T-Zone, here’s a money-saving tip: don’t spend your money on store-bought cosmetic blotters, just grab a toilet seat cover and make your own.
If you are out and have to use a public restroom, grab a few of those toilet seat covers. When you get home cut them into small squares which you can then store in a small plastic sandwich bag, or envelope to keep in your purse or makeup bag.
Afternoon Glow?
Now you have your own home-made (FREE) blotting cloths.
What are some of your money saving beauty tips?
I hope to see you again this evening at 6:00 for the #WWDParty!
On Thankful Thursday February 1st, 1996, I gave birth to a healthy son, al-Malik Glorian Blake, his first name in Arabic means “King or Monarch”. His middle name was given in memory of my sister, his aunt Gloria whom he never met.
On Thankful Thursday May 22nd 2014, I watched that son walk across the stage at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware to receive his High School Diploma.
I am thankful but where did the time go?
As a young boy, I helped him learn how to walk and then last week he walked out the door a High School Senior with his Cap and Gown…walked into the gymnasium with a glow of excitement and anticipation, yet filled with anxiety of an unknown future…he then walked back into the house a High School GRADUATE…soon he’ll walk again, but this time it will be off to College.
I am thankful but where did the time go?
Where Did The Time Go?
It was a beautiful Thankful Thursday and the weekend was filled with family and friends with love and support because “it take a village to raise a child!’
I am thankful for my family, my friends and of course my faith. I am thankful for the love and support that I receive from my family and friends and they will never know just how much it all means – I am thankfullyblessed!
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?
Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday. Although this is a short work week due to the Memorial Day holiday, it seems like it’s dragging by, I guess it’s a sign of having too much fun. Now is the time to get back into a normal routine and cut back on the over eating and drinking. How about you, did you over indulge during the weekend?
Thank you all for your votes, and without further adieu the winner of Week 5 were the thrifted
Enzo Angiolini’s
This week’s contenders are a pair of well-worn Cognac color wedges from Kmart or a pair of never been worn multi-color wedges from Citi Trends.
On this casual Friday I chose to wear a pair of color skinny jeans with a multi-colored top which was thrifted from Goodwill.
Hello Friends, I trust you all had a happy and safe holiday weekend! I am back to work after being off since Thursday and needless to say it is tough getting back into the routine. This outfit is what I wore last Tuesday and with the exception of the jewelry it is Totally Thrifted.
You might remember when I purchased this embroidered skirt and sleeveless tank last winter at Goodwill. It was during one of the many shopping trips I made looking for outfits for the 2014 Goodwill Runway Show. One of the things I like most about thrifting is you can oftentimes find items that are out of season knowing that they are right for when the weather changes. It was the dead of winter cold but I knew this skirt and tank would be perfect for work once the weather warmed.
In selecting the accessories, I decided to mix plastic bracelets with pearl necklaces and earrings. The goldtone watch is from Avon.
The floral embroidery on the skirt matches the patio cushions and umbrella from Home Depot. Speaking of which, did you have a nice Memorial Day weekend? What did you do? On Saturday, we had a graduation party for Malik and it was a blast, I’ll post more on about it on Thankful Thursday.
Now that hubby is cancer free (thank God) and his digestive system seems to be back on track, it’s time to switch up our bathroom routine and Pamper His Bum! Yes friends, ladies and babies aren’t the only ones who enjoy a clean bottom our men do as well. Have you seen the wonderfully diverse #LetsTalkBum TV commercials for Cottonelle Bath Tissue and Flushable Cleansing Cloths?
Yesterday after work, I stopped at CVSon Route 202 and used the $1.50 off coupon for the purchase of a dispenser of Cottonelle Fresh Care Cleansing Cloths and Clean Care Toilet Paper. To pamper hubby’s bum I put the Cottonelle products in the hall bathroom so that he and our sons can enjoy the softness of the dry wipe followed by the freshness of a wet wipe.
‘”Sharing is Caring” so I’ll put extra rolls of Cottonelle TP and a dispenser of Flushable Cleansing Cloths in the Powder Room, so tomorrow as we are celebrating our son’s graduation, guests will have an opportunity to experience the wet+dry system for themselves.
If you want to pamper your bum this holiday weekend, head to the local CVS and use this money saving coupon to save on Cottonelle Clean Care Toilet Paper and Flushable Cleansing Cloths, your Bum with thank you!
Now let’s talk bums, do you think you would like the Cottonelle wet+dry system?
This post is sponsored by Cottonelle, but my love for their fresh care flushable cleansing cloths is all my own! #LetsTalkBums
This has been another blessed week, with our oldest being accepted into the CLSC Program at the University of Delaware and tonight our youngest is graduating from Appoqunimink High School!
I don’t let grass grow under my feet either because in addition to working full time outside of the home I also sell Avon and have been since 2002. Honestly, I don’t have a large customer base but enjoy selling products for a company that has been in business for over 125 years!
I use Anew products on my face and I love how Avon has changed their clothing selections to keep in line with the current trends. Unfortunately, it eats into my profits but that’s okay because I love their accessories, the shoes, sneakers, scarves and especially the totes and purses.
Check out this comfy casual outfit that I wore at the end of April, it’s was totally thrifted from Goodwill but accessorized by Avon.
Scarf – Avon | Polka Dot Top – Goodwill
Polka Dot Sneakers – Avon | Skirt – Goodwill
Color Block Tote – Avon | Black Studded Pumps – The Salvation Army
Thank you all for voting last week and just as predicted it was a hard choice, but the winners were the
Payless Pumps!
One pair in this week’s contest is an entry into the Credit Card InsidersSplurge vs Save Campaign.
You all know that as much as I love shoes, I find it very difficult if not impossible to spend a lot of money on them, which is why I love to thrift or pay less!
So without further adieu here are this week’s choices:
Avon Black & White Forever Pumps
or
Enzo Angiolini Black Pumps
The black and white dress was purchased last summer on clearance for only $8.00 at JCPenney. Another way to save is to wait until the end of a retail season to buy clothes, which is usually a month or so before the end of the actual season so you’ll have plenty of time to wear them.
I added pops of color to the classic black and white combination with an orange necklace thrifted new from Goodwill, orange watch from Avon and a multi-color bracelet.
These black patent leather Enzo Angiolini pumps which I had once seen online for $59.99 at Nordstrom were thrifted from The Salvation Army for only $14.99,so they definitely were a Save vs a Splurge purchase!
