Hello Friends and Happy New Year’s Eve 2012!
Back to work after having a week off which flew by too quickly, thankfully there are only a few others in the office so I can play catch-up in peace. My son, aka “Lamont” gave me some clothes to be donated to Goodwill but I kept this flannel shirt (Fred) and it fits perfectly!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 11,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 18 years to get that many views.

1. What is the best New Years Eve you’ve ever had?
New Year’s Eve has always been good but I still miss my grandmother who passed away in 2009 – at midnight we were always on our knees together in prayer or on the phone wishing each other a Happy New Years. RIP Mama!
2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?
Yes, cooking our traditional meal of fried chicken wings, collard greens and black eye peas. At midnight, hubby and sons are on our knees in prayer. then back to watching The Twilight Zone Marathon!!
Name a book we should all read come January?
I don’t know, I am still trying to read my magazines from 2010!
What are your New Years resolutions?
Same as every year – lose weight!
Happy New Years!!

Hello Friends, I hope you are enjoying the last Saturday of 2012
This afternoon it started to snow so it was a perfect day to take down the tree and remove decorations in preparation of having a clean house the first day of 2013. Along with having a clean house, frying chicken wings, cooking collard greens and black eyed peas has been my New Years’ Eve tradition for many years. Long gone are the days of hanging out at the clubs and popping Champagne bottles at midnight. At midnight we are on our knees in prayer, then we eat and continue watching The Twilight Zone Marathon, my favorite episode is “Time Enough At Last” with Burgess Meredith.
Today I am wearing a handmade, fully lined, African mud cloth cape that my husband had made for me over 16 years ago. I don’t wear it often but it hangs prominently in my coat closet and I’ll keep it forever. It’s a one of a kind cape made by Nzinga Debrick, a friend of my husbands who owns Nzinga’s Cultural Connection a boutique in Wilmington. The cape is trimmed in leather including the button hooks and the attached scarf matches the trim around the buttons and pockets.
Black Jeans and boots – closet staples
The animal print cap belonged to my grandmother and I paired it with the cape to keep my head dry

Hello Friends and Happy Thursday, I hope you are having a pleasant day.
Yesterday I spent the day cleaning out closets gathering clothes to be donated to Goodwill which is what we did this afternoon. Malik drove and after donating two boxes of clothes and two tv’s we drove by a dumpster where he saw two speakers – yes, he got one, brought it home; it worked so he went back and got the other one (que the theme song to Sanford and Son)
one of the two “Sanford and Son” speakers!
too many clothes….
black denim jeans, chambray shirt and black sweater // matching socks with black smoking slippers all closet staples
