Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
Hear Ye Hear Ye We Lose an hour of Sleepy on Sundy – boo!
The good thing is we made it through another work week and the weekend is almost here! I am so looking forward to it and will make up that hour loss on Sunday morning. Saturday night will be a late night with me up watching Saturday Night Live with Justin Timerlake as the host AND musical guest!!!!! JT is my all time favorite SNL host and with his new song “Suit and Tie” it’s going to be awesome! Last week Kevin Hart was alright, his opening monologue was hilarious but the skits needed more rehearsing and his use of the words “G*D Dammit” was a bit offensive to me.
I am so looking forward to the beginning of Spring and was taken back when I saw snow flakes this morning, they didn’t last long and I hope not to see anymore until December!!
Bye Bye Snow… Hello Spring Flowers.

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
Delaware dodged the snowstorm bullet yesterday, we only got a little rain and heavy winds and today the sun is shining with temps hovering above the 40 degree mark. Next week’s forecast call for highs in the 50’s to low 60’s, Spring is right around the corner, and more sunlight with the start of Daylight Savings Time on Sunday – don’t forget to “Spring Forward”.
Today’s outfit includes the color turquoise, a color that I like in clothing but not in jewelry. Turquoise, The Gem of Native Americans was very popular in the 60’s and early ’70’s, it seemed as though everyone had a big Turquoise ring or necklace, both men and women. Sapphire Green is supposed to be the “it” color for Spring, but Royal and Cobalt blues are my favorites as well as the lighter shades like turquoise because of their calming effects.
Calm, cool and collected – ready to take on the day!
How does your favorite color make you feel?
Blazer – GW Boutique (Goodwill) // Pencil Skirt – Mossimo via Target
Necklace & Ring – jewelry box // watch – Avon

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
Today’s outfit was inspired by an Instagram picture from Kela’s Kloset, a fashion blogger whom I admire and follow because of her great sense of style. She like myself has vowed to shop our closet for the month of March, me because gas is too damn high. I’m always checking the blogs for ideas and to get inspiration for refashioning items that I already own and this is today’s.
You know how much I love my sleeveless shift dresses, well instead of wearing a cardigan or blazer over it, I’m wearing a print top underneath.
From where do you get your outfit inspirations ~ Instagram or Pinterest?
.
Snow is in the forecast this afternoon starting at 4:00 pm, just in time for my evening commute so I chose to wear an old pair of boots and to accessorize with silver jewelry
Necklace – Jewelrymax.net // Rings and Hoops – jewelry box // Fedora – Burlington Coat Factory
I didn’t feel like changing my purse this morning so just wrapped a coordinating scarf around the handle
Raindrops were falling on my head
Today I am hopping with Glow Kouture and Transatlantic Blonde – come on over and meet a new blogger
Have a fantabulous afternoon – Smooches!

Hello Friends, I hope you had a great day.
It’s late and I just finished up a TweetChat (#TBW). I didn’t think I would post this until tomorrow because I couldn’t think of an outfit title. Here are a few that popped into my head but none seem right, help me name this outfit so I can go to sleep!

Hello Friends, I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday!
Recently, I read an article that had suggestions on the products that you should and should not buy at your local Dollar Stores. I agreed that buying party supplies and paper products was a good idea and with not buying toys which may contain high levels of lead. Purchasing cleaning supplies saves money, but I only buy name brands because some of the others are watered down which makes them a waste of money.
The only statement in the article that I did not agree with was that food items should never be purchased. Granted there are some items in a Dollar/99 Cents store that shouldn’t be purchased because of it’s obvious non-compliance with FDA’s regulations, however, there are a lot of products that I would and have bought at Dollar Tree stores.
The state of the economy has forced us all to be more frugal but my sons are trying to eat me out of house and home! They are always snacking and can easily polish off a large bag of chips in one sitting…wonder where they got that from (lol). Therefore, I am always on the hunt, usually with coupons in hand, in search of snacks that they will eat and be satisfied without breaking the bank.
That’s where Dollar Tree comes in, and it has always been my “go to” store for snacks, even when the boys were small, it was the place to stop before going to the movies. Not all products are sold in all stores and I was surprised with what I found in their freezer section, taking note that packaging was clearly marked Made in the USA, (The Bronx, NY, Altoona, PA, Pennsauken, NJ and Rancho Cucamonga, CA). There are many name brand products made specifically for non-grocery type stores as evidenced by their sizes, however, the quality remains the same and manufacturer’s coupons are accepted.
Turkey Creek Snacks – Pork Rinds/Chicharron (for me)
Pennysticks Brand Pretzels
David Sunflower Seeds
Utz Onion and Garlic Potato Chips
Popcorn Indiana Sea Salt Popcorn
Luigi’s Italian Ice
Baker Best Soft Pretzels
Golden Krust Jamaican Patties
Sapphire Teriyaki Noodles and Vegetables
Our Foods Orange and Teriyaki Chicken
Do you shop at dollar stores, and if so, what do you buy?
Thank you Jennifer and Christine at store # 3730, Beaver Brook Plaza, New Castle, DE, for a pleasant shopping experience. The shelves were fully stocked and the store was very well maintained!
BTW – don’t forget to complete the customer survey on the back of the receipt to enter their sweepstakes!
~~ ALL OPINIONS ARE SOLELY MY OWN – I WAS NOT CONTACTED BY DOLLAR TREE NOR ANY PRODUCT MANUFACTURER FOR AN ENDORSEMENT ~~

On Thursday, Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI) celebrated “America Saves Week” with an Awards luncheon held at the Junior Achievement building in Wilmington. Board members, business owners, volunteers, and politicians were invited to attend in honoring Debra Forbes, RN, BSN, MS from Governor Bacon Health Center and Jim Godfrey, President/CEO of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of MD & DE, Inc.
The Honorable Robert Glen, State Bank Commissioner presented the awards and spoke about the First State Saving’s Bank At School programs. With each new branch opening the ribbon cutting ceremony includes entertaining plays that shows students the importance of saving money.
Debra Forbes was honored for creating onsite financial training programs. These United Way sponsored events are held during normal business hours making it convenient for attendees. Jim Godfrey was honored for partnering with The Money School in assisting consumers with debt reduction and credit counseling. Arming consumers with important financial tools has a positive impact on the community as a whole.
Kamysha Martin, representing Theatrical Fusion, presented a DVD entitled “Shopaholics”, designed upon the reality TV concept but with a twist. These free web based videos were created for teens and young adults to educate them about finances. As an introduction to the world of budgeting, debt management, smart spending, and debit vs credit card usage. Financial management is something that either parents or schools should teach but when it’s not, by the time they enter college it’s possibly too late, something I can personally relate to!
The unique concept of this program is that it gives the viewers the ability to choose the ending scene which is then played out accordingly. The DVD also featured Intervention classes as a follow up, these web based video can be seen here.
The Honorable Governor Jack Markell gave a brief history about The Money School of Delaware.
In 1999, The Money School launched it’s first 1 day conference with few attendees, but today has over 600 programs within the state of Delaware. Instructors are all volunteers, and a small staff of 6 operates the main office. Ronni Cohen, Executive Director of DFLI works diligently with the Governor to ensure the successful growth of these programs in the state.

Hello Friends and Happy Saturday
This was my casual First Friday attire – Polka Dots, Pink Suede and “Pearls”. The pink glitter earrings were gifted last year from a jewelry company, SweetLikeCake.com however, I could no longer find them online.
I hope you have a good day, I’m off to do my Saturday chores and looking forward to watching Saturday Night Live tonight, Kevin Hart is hosting and it’s going to be HILARIOUS!!! They should have booked Robin Thicke as the musical guest with surprise appearances by JB Smooth, Boris Kodjoe and Nick Cannon – it would be a Real Husbands of Hollywood special.
Pink Suede Evan-Picone and polka dot top – GW Boutique (Goodwill)
Pants are closet staples as are the Tom McCan clogs from Kmart.

TVOne just ended it’s first season of their new sitcom, Belle’s starring veteran actors Ella Joyce, Keith David and Miguel Nunez as well as Elise Neil and newly minted reality actress and home girl (money earning Mt. Vernon) Tami Roman. The show is narrated by 12 year old Nadka Alaya as Pam in a role similar to Aaron Meeks as Ahmad in Soul Food. However, unlike Soul Food, this is light comedy, not forced comedy like Roc or The Hughley’s or extreme unreality like Basketball Wives, light comedy similar to Sparks.
As a “fifty something” wife and mother, I enjoyed this show for several reasons: the time, 10 pm on Friday…end of the work week…after dinner…after hubby and sons have gone to their rooms…after weekly home pedicure…and after the 4th glass of Red Wine has kicked in. Light comedy with an excellent cast of characters that appear to work well together, great guest appearances like Wendy Williams and Gary Dourdan, a show that I hope remains on the air for a long time.
Thank you, TVOne for bringing family programming that I truly enjoy!
