Hello friends and welcome to another episode of You Choose the Shoes. Today’s outfit was for a casual Friday as you know I don’t normally wear pants to work. These black and white ones were purchased from Walmart #WearWalmart and the sleeveless top was a purchase from either TJMaxx or Ross.
The contenders for this week are Red & White Gingham versus the Simply Red wedges both of which are from Payless.
The bracelet is Old Navy, statement necklace, Walmart and watch from Avon. Which pair do you like better with the printed pants, the pattern or is that too busy?
Perhaps the pop of brighter red looked better?
What do you think?
Thanks for all the votes from last week and for the first time it was a tie!
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes – Week 11
Do you remember the blog post that I wrote for the Goodwill.org blog featuring this outfit, if not, click here to read it.
5 under $25 Goodwill Haul
This week it’s flats versus straps.
The white strappy heels were purchased last season from Rainbow Shops and the flats are this season’s purchase from Payless. You guys know I have a lot of shoes, and I have finally begun to purge some of them. I can’t believe that I only work 1/4 of my winter shoes – ridiculous!
The statement necklace is Walmart and bracelet from Old Navy.
So will it be the strappy white sandals or the blue flats for this outfit?
Thank you for the votes last week, the winner was:

Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 – Episode 10
Last month before we left for vacation hubby and I shot two sets of You Choose the shoes episodes and so we will begin this week with the flats verses wedges.
I love this maxi skirt and striped tank which were both purchased from Walmart and I bet by now are on the clearance racks. So if you are looking to add to your summer wardrobe, may I suggest you head over there with a quickness.
Now take a look at the outfit and let me know which pair of shoes you would have chosen to wear with it.
The belt is a thrifted find from Goodwill and I think the necklace is also from Walmart. #WearWalmart
The flats are from Rainbow Shops and the wedges were purchased years ago from Kmart. Right now both of these stores are having great clearance sales so you can really dress for less!
What do you think, I know it should be about comfort but believe it or not, the wedges are more comfortable than the flats, however, when it comes to driving, it’s better to wear flats.
Take one more look at both and let me know which pair you would have chosen for this outfit.
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Never too old for short sets and sneakers!
Growing up in Mt. Vernon and New Rochelle, New York, during the 60s, summer was the best time of the year. School was out and there was always a parade, picnic or block party to attend. We had a lot of friends and family who was always getting together to eat, drink or just play games.
After cleaning the apartment, we would run up to North Avenue to see the annual parade. My grandmother always bought my sister and I matching red, white and blue outfits and we dressed as if we were twins. Only a little over a year apart we could actually could pass for twins because everyone thought of us as ‘Toni and Gloria‘ never just one or the other.
Catching a bus to go shopping at Korvettes in the Bronx was definitely one of the best memories I have from childhood. My grandmother couldn’t afford to get us the best sneakers but trying on the ones in the big bins attached with a stretchy string was fun.
Shuffling around the store in too big sneakers didn’t bother us as all, you see my grandmother didn’t believe it buying shoes or sneakers that fit, they had to be larger so that we could grow into them. A little toilet paper stuffed in the toes worked fine for us.
Now that both my sister and grandmother are gone, those summer memories are even more special. Having recently purchased a short set and sneakers from Rainbow Shops had my mind and heart filled with with those wonderful childhood memories and no matter how old we get, somethings never change.
No matter my age, I am never too old for a short set & sneakers!
Happy 4th of July Holiday my friends…now go make some memories!

Mother’s Day Maxi
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. This is a throwback to last month and Mother’s Day. Although my youngest wasn’t able to be home, he did call me at the crack of noon to say, “Happy Mother’s Day” before going back to bed…aah the life of a college student.
Anywho, Tayair and I took our traditional Mother’s Day pictures under my grandmother’s favorite tree which was in full bloom. Although we didn’t go out for brunch, hubby did make a great dinner and took these cute pics of me in my Mother’s Day Maxi.
Yes, he said something inappropriate…and I liked it!
This Jersey Knit maxi was hanging in the closet with the tags still on it. I found it on the clearance rack at Target last year. #dressforless
The belt was thrifted from Goodwill
And for once….no shoes!
What did you wear on Mother’s Day?

Hello friends and Happy Feel Good 1st Friday in June
Wow, where did the time go? Well just like May this is going to be short. These are just 2 outfits that I wore the weeks before Memorial Day and I simply entitled it
Red White & Aqua Blue
The jeans and dress are both from Walmart #WearWalmart
The flats are Payless and purses are Avon. I always wear this zebra tank with the zebra flats because I like the matchy matchy style…I did it with the bracelets too.
I love the casual A-line cut of this dress and there are a few other styles, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for when they hit the clearance rack! To jazz it up a bit, I added a gold tone chain belt which was thrifted from Goodwill and a chain necklace from Avon.
These flats are the perfect color for this dress and the sunnies were purchased at Goodwill.
I hope you a
ll have a wonderful weekend and Happy Fri-Yay!

Hello friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
I can’t believe that in only 3 more days, the men and I will be on flying off to paradise in the Dominican Republic. We all deserve this break and I am looking forward to spending time with hubby and my sons…which almost didn’t happen due to their expired Passports…but that’s a different story for a different day.
My blogs posts are all scheduled for next week including over at www.bloggingwithblake.com, so I don’t have to worry about posting while away. I will however, be taking lots of pictures so if you are not following now on Instagram and YouTube, make sure to do so today!
Cool in cotton is the title of this post and it’s a simple white polo shirt from Walmart #WearWalmart and a floral skirt thrifted from Goodwill. Staying cool in summer’s heat and humidity is vital as is drinking plenty of water.
Along with the pair of Ann Taylor sandals this outfit was perfect to keep me cool outdoors as well comfy inside the office.
I plan on wearing cool and comfy sundresses while on vacation and will be posting a daily OOTD hopefully at sunrise, as hubby and I plan on getting up and walking the beach each morning before then.
How do you stay comfy cool in a cotton outfit?
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

You Choose the Shoes ~ Season 2 ~ Week 9
Hello friends and welcome to the last #YCTS in May, where in the heck did the month go? Time is flying but I did get a change to go through the shoes in my bedroom closet. Maybe next weekend I’ll get to the ones in the guest bedroom.
I donated several pairs of winter shoes and boots that I hadn’t even looked at in years and am pretty sure I will do the same with the spring/summer styles.
This week it’s Black Patent Leather Sandals versus Red Studded sandals.
Yesterday’s post was about wearing sleeveless after 50 and so you can see that I don’t have a problem doing so.
I can’t remember where I purchased this top but the skirt is Boscov’s and the clutch is Rainbow Shops.
The black patent leather sandals are one of my favorites by Jessica Simpson.
The red sandals I think were purchased at Rugged Wearhouse. I added another pop of red with the bracelet from Old Navy. Check out the big butterfly ring from Jewelrymax.net
Okay, so which pair of shoes would you have chosen for this outfit?
I will be skipping the next two Thursdays as I prepare for and then be on vacation!
There weren’t many votes from last week and it was almost a tie, but the winners were the pumps.
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

I can’t believe this topic is still under discussion, but it’s that time of year so here we go again…
Should a woman wear sleeveless clothing after the age of 50?
Heck yeah it’s Hot!
I am over the age of 50, as a matter of fact I will be 54 in September, am still menopausal and sweat like a pig most mornings just getting dressed…actually pigs don’t have sweat glands, but that’s besides the point.
I have and will continue to be sleeveless in the summer no matter my age because I want to and it’s comfortable. Hey, if you have flabby arms so what, I think Wendy Williams called them “bingo wings”, be proud of them or do something about them…lift weights using canned peaches or hit the bag like First Lady Michelle Obama.
No matter your age or size, be comfortable with who you are because in the end, it’s not about what you looked like on the outside, it’s how you felt on the inside…stay cool and do you boo boo!
Dress and Sunnies – Goodwill Bracelet – Old Navy Sandals – Rainbow Shop – Purse – Avon

Hello friends and welcome to week 8 of “You Choose the Shoes”
Last week I actually did try to rearrange my closet, pulling out the winter wear in exchange for the Spring and Summer shoes, but I didn’t get too far. Hopefully, on Monday, Memorial Day I will get it all done.
Before we begin, I would like to ask for your prayers as we say goodbye and prepare to bury yet another cousin on Saturday who lost her battle with breast cancer #ihatecancer
Our cousin Renee’ was a beautiful, kind, loving and spiritual woman and I know she is looking over us all. I am going to dedicate a separate post to her once all is said in done, because I want to honor her husband and children as well.
This week’s contenders are Patent Leather wedges – versus- Patent Leather pumps
I remember wearing, and as a matter of fact I still have a pair of my patent leather Easter shoes from childhood. They were the squeakiest shoes ever made but when you shined them with Vaseline…watch out world…you were as sharp as a tack!
This is one of my favorite dresses, I purchased it for Tayair’s High School graduation in 2010. The purse is a recent purchase from Walmart #WearWalmart Speaking of Walmart, did you see my spread on their website…I’m in my “big girl panties” – click the picture in the sidebar to be taken to the advertisement and video. I am still in amazement of it all!
Okay, back to the shoes, the patent leather wedges were thrifted from Goodwill and the pumps are Mossimo via Target. As you can see, hubby was at it again…
The bracelet was purchased from a Clair’s in the mall and the necklace was a gift from hubby.
So which pair works better with this outfit?
Thank you all for voting last week…and the winners were….the granny booties!
