Hello friends, are you ready – this is it – the first official weekend of the summer – woohoo. The sun is shining, the temps are rising and I am ready to be outdoors until late into the evening.
This afternoon we will be heading over to the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware to see our son graduate from the CLSC Program and I am so excited!!!
CLSC stands for Career and Life Studies Certificate. CLSC is a two-year, nonresidential certificate program at the University of Delaware for students with intellectual disabilities (ID). CLSC provides integrated academic, career/technical and independent living instruction in preparation for gainful employment. CLSC students attend classes, participate in internships and work experiences, and engage in all aspects of campus life.
Keep an eye out on my Instagram and Facebook pages to see our smiling faces! Speaking of which, if you saw the pic of my #OOTD on Monday you would have known that I wore white shoes and carried a white purse which according to old fashion rules is a no-no!
Do you still adhere to the “no white before Memorial Day” rule – or is it alright to wear white right after Easter? This skirt is a recent purchase from Ross and initially I was going to pair it with a different top, but with all the rain we had this month I decided to wear it instead with a crisp white shirt.
Then after looking deeper into my closet, I said, hey what the heck and grabbed these white sandals and purse. I was comfy all day and with just a few pops of orange this outfit really made the start of my week less dreary.
So are you ready, will you be heading to the beach or the shore or just hanging at home with family and friends? Whatever, you decide to do – be safe and have fun.
You know, I should have taken offense to the guy at work who said I looked like a Construction Cone…no, he didn’t really say that but I know he was thinking it. Didn’t matter because I love this colorful vest from Old Navy and chose to wear it to brighten up a cold wintry day.
A few weeks before the Blizzard of 2016 made an appearance I was still wearing dresses and skirts to work, but I think I’ll stick with pants and sweaters for a few weeks or until the first signs of spring appear.
This work outfit is basic with a grey skirt thrifted from Goodwill, turtleneck from Walmart and the vest from Old Navy. Black tights and my suede booties from The Shoe Dept completed it.
You may recognize the Statement Necklace from Walmart and the multi-color bracelet I think was purchased from Burlington Coat Factory.
How do you brighten up an outfit on a cold or dreary day?
Hello friends and Happy Feel Good 1st Friday in June
Wow, where did the time go? Well just like May this is going to be short. These are just 2 outfits that I wore the weeks before Memorial Day and I simply entitled it
Red White & Aqua Blue
The jeans and dress are both from Walmart #WearWalmart
The flats are Payless and purses are Avon. I always wear this zebra tank with the zebra flats because I like the matchy matchy style…I did it with the bracelets too.
I love the casual A-line cut of this dress and there are a few other styles, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for when they hit the clearance rack! To jazz it up a bit, I added a gold tone chain belt which was thrifted from Goodwill and a chain necklace from Avon.
These flats are the perfect color for this dress and the sunnies were purchased at Goodwill.
I hope you a
ll have a wonderful weekend and Happy Fri-Yay!
I can’t believe that in only 3 more days, the men and I will be on flying off to paradise in the Dominican Republic. We all deserve this break and I am looking forward to spending time with hubby and my sons…which almost didn’t happen due to their expired Passports…but that’s a different story for a different day.
My blogs posts are all scheduled for next week including over at www.bloggingwithblake.com, so I don’t have to worry about posting while away. I will however, be taking lots of pictures so if you are not following now on Instagram and YouTube, make sure to do so today!
Cool in cotton is the title of this post and it’s a simple white polo shirt from Walmart #WearWalmart and a floral skirt thrifted from Goodwill. Staying cool in summer’s heat and humidity is vital as is drinking plenty of water.
Along with the pair of Ann Taylor sandals this outfit was perfect to keep me cool outdoors as well comfy inside the office.
I plan on wearing cool and comfy sundresses while on vacation and will be posting a daily OOTD hopefully at sunrise, as hubby and I plan on getting up and walking the beach each morning before then.
3S Day ~ Sporting a Sweater, Sunnies and Suede in the Spring
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. I don’t know how it is in your neck of the woods, but here in Delaware Spring is taking a long time to settle in. One day it’s cold and the next day it’s hot…just like how I was the first few years of menopause!
Fortunately, the temps have begun to rise into the low to mid 80’s and hopefully they will be sticking around until the holiday. During the last week in April it was chilly in the mornings and then warmer in the afternoons, hence this outfit of the day featuring 3S’ : a short sleeve sweater, suede and sunnies. #OOTD
This dress is one of my spring/summer favorites but it has cap sleeves so I had to top it with a short sleeve sweater. The sweater has been hanging in my 2nd closet for years and is one that the boys gifted me a few Christmas’ ago. If you remember, the suede purse was thrifted and featured in this YouTube video, the open-toe suede shoes were purchased last season from Payless.
I love these sunnies which I bought new from Goodwill and they too were featured in last month’s blog post submission which you can read here, www.goodwillde.org.
I can’t wait to break out the maxi dresses and skirts!
What is your favorite summer outfit, shorts and tanks, or capris and short sleeves?
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world today. If it’s true, “April Showers Brings May Flowers” then we are in for a blooming May as it will be raining here for the rest of the week!
I do hope there were be a few bright and sunny days before the end of the month, but just in case there aren’t I will keep my umbrella close at hand.
I pray that our friends on the west coast get a few of these damp days to help with their drought.
Hello friends, each week I will put together a collage of my favorite outfits of the week, then post them here on Sunday Stylin RoundUp.
This first outfit I wore to the SITSGirls Bloggy Boot Camp in Philly. The skirt was a recent purchase from Burlington Coat Factory, as was the tote from Walmart. This tote bag was only $14.97 and they have a large selection in various colors, I will probably pick up another one in Cognac. The sandals and top are closet staples. The necklace and arm band are too old for me to remember where they were purchased but the red bracelet is from Old Navy.
As you can see, I love the tote and wore it again to work the following Monday with a thrifted faux wrap dress from Goodwill and thrifted beige pumps. Necklace from Rugged Wearhouse, bracelet and ring both from Old Navy.
On Sunday, I wore another totally thrifted outfit, dress and purse, however the blue pumps and necklace are from Avon. Ring and bracelet are from Old Navy, as you can see I picked up several, but for $1.99 each wouldn’t you?
If you haven’t noticed by now, black and red is one of my favorite color combinations, and this outfit is definitely one of my summer favs. I wear this thrifted skirt all year long, so you will probably see this entire outfit again with a blazer.
These were my favorite outfits from the first week in September, which one do you like the best?
Today is my 53rd Birthdayand later on I will be celebrating it with my hubby and son with a dinner down at the Christiana Riverfront.
In the meantime, I thought I would post a few summer outfits that didn’t quite make it to the blog. However, if you follow me on Instagram you might remember seeing some of them in a “Fashion after Fifty” post.
You know how much I love black and white polka dots, so with this outfit I accented it with gold accessories. Both the top and pants are thrifted, the purse is quite old as are the sandals. The bracelet was purchased at the QVC Outlet in Frazer, PA, Avon watch and the ring is from Old Navy.
This was another Casual Friday with white jeans and sequins top which I had never worn during the day, but hey, YOLO and I’m over 50! The purse was found at Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop in West Chester, PA and the studded sandals are staples in my closet.
This was another fun outfit, with the pink lace top, pink gingham shoes from Rugged Wearhouse and multi-color purse from Ross. I chose to anchor the outfit with a black pencil skirt.
And finally my all time favorite outfit of the season, mixing brown and blue with a studded top thrifted from Goodwill, faux Jimmy Choo purse and multiple bangles from Old Navy. The faux Snakeskin pumps from Target are a pair of my favorite pumps so they will be worn a lot this fall.
So what do you think, not bad for an old lady huh…?
I trust you are all getting back into the swing of things after the long Labor Day weekend – just think tomorrow is Fri-Yay! I spent most of my weekend clearing out the basement and was able to gather a lot of items to be donated to Goodwill.
I am thankful to be blessed with an abundance, however, sometimes it can be a bit too much so donating the excess is always a good thing – Donate Stuff Create Jobs.
Next week I will begin working on my closets so that I can create room for more stuff…
Speaking of creating room in my closet, these two outfits were put together with the same skirt. The skirt is a thrifted find from Goodwill and because brown is a great color for summer as well as fall you will probably see it again next month.
The top was on clearance at J.C. Penney and the purse was also a great find however, not from Goodwill but from Ross. My accessories, the bracelets on the left and watch are from Avon, the bracelet on the right and ring are from Old Navy.
For this look, I wore a leopard print top also thrifted from Goodwill and large Jimmy Choo inspired bag. Necklace and earring set is from Jewelrymax.net
With each outfit I wore my favorite Jessica Simpson peep-toe pumps from Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop. I am so thankful that the weather was perfect during the summer months after such a harsh winter. Let’s pray for a gorgeous Indian Summer and Autumn.
Even though I didn’t get a chance to wear a lot of my summer clothes, as I go through my closets, anything not worn in the past two years will be donated.
How do you decide when to get rid of clothing?
I am thankful that I am able to donate to Goodwill; I am thankfulthat we had a wonderful holiday; I am thankful to be attending my 1st SITS Bloggy Boot Camp in Philadelphia tomorrow and last but not least, I am thankful for my family, my friends and of course my faith.
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?
I am thankful that the summer weather here in the Mid-Atlantic area has not been oppressively hot and humid. We did get some really heated days earlier in the season but then came those low to mid-80’s temps which were fantastic.
Last month I read a blog post by Mo over at “Who is that Girl Mo” which gave me the inspiration to wear this scarf.
I wore the outfit on a Casual Friday which is when I like wearing my white jeans or pants.
I have several pairs of white pants, these included which were thrifted from Goodwill, the infinity scarf was purchased last fall from Burlington Coat Factory.
The sleeveless tank top, tote bag and wrap-around bracelet are all from Avon – didn’t I tell you that they have nice accessories!
I love how these Montego Bay sandals pulls in the colors from the scarf.
Thank you Mo for the inspiration, whoa, hold on…wait a minute…come to think of it…I did wear a summer scarf last year…uh oh, I think I just had a a “senior moment”!

Well it was probably a temporary lapse in memory, but I am thankful that I did remember and thanks to Mo’s post, it was the trigger.
This has been yet another wonderful week and yesterday our ‘baby bird’ left the nest! Both of our sons are now in college and I am thankful for that, even if my wallet isn’t.
I am thankful for the time we have together as a family, I am thankful for my friends and of most importantly I am thankful for my faith.
Now it’s your turn – what are you thankful for this week?
I hope you will join me over at Katherine’s Corner to share some of your favorite things.
