Phl17_tv Eye Opener “Win An iPad A Day” Contest – I WON ~ I WON ~ I WON

No offense to @PennyChic but this prize is much better than the XOXO Sunglasses that I won two weeks ago!!!! The amazing thing is, this is the most I’ve ever won at any given time in my entire life – I better play Powerball this month too!

I started watching Eye Opener on Phl17 about a month ago because it was enjoyable news – an oxymoron, but true. I often wondered if I was too “old” to be watching Marlie Hall, Sean, Danielle, Oliver and Nerissa in the morning as opposed to the anchors on NBC10 and The Today Show, but after seeing Larry Mendte and Rose, I knew I wasn’t because they are older than me – sorry guys! It is refreshing to watch a news program that not only provides the latest local and national news and weather but also info on beauty, fashion, food, drinks of the day, car insurance, techie news, Hollywood fluff, and other good stuff. It has become a family affair with my youngest son watching before he leaves for school and my oldest watching as I leave for work. My morning commute is an hour and a 1/2 of non-stop traffic so the last thing I need is to be in the car in a bad mood, but thanks to Eye Opener that never happens.

I was told that over 3000 people entered last week’s contest so I feel blessed to have been chosen a winner. Every day for a week, right before breakfast when the “word of the day” was given, I would write it down on a post-it note and put in my eyeglass case so that I wouldn’t forget to enter it online – an old lady move that paid off!

Thanks Phl17-TV EyeOpener!!!

OOTD – Paisley Pink and Animal Print

When I saw this jacket at Goodwill I knew I had to have it even though it’s a size medium and a bit snug .  Initially I thought about pairing it with a pair of pants or jeans but nothing I had seemed right.    I was thinking of wearing it over a solid brown dress but then saw this dress hanging next to it screaming, “pick me pick me” and it turned out to be a better choice.  Adding the animal print shoes was the icing on the cake , I love this outfit and the weather is definitely conducive to wear it – see how the breeze catches my dress in the first shot.

Rotisserie Chicken Day 2

In our house a store bought Rotisserie Chicken is always a two day meal.  The leftover chicken is usually cut up, covered with a cream soup and mushrooms then served over rice.  Today a co-worker gave me a recipe that added a twist and it was an easy, breezy dinner that the family enjoyed.

Ingredients:

Rotisserie Chicken ~ Package of Frozen Broccoli ~ Can of Cream of Mushroom/Chicken soup ~ 3 tablespoons of mayo ~ 3 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice ~ shredded cheese

I didn’t have lemon juice so I used lime

Added 3 tablespoons of mayo to a can of cream of chicken soup

Added 3 tablespoons of lime juice

Mixed thoroughly

Steamed the broccoli according to package then layered in casserole dish

Cut up leftover chicken over top of broccoli

Poured mayo mixture over chicken and broccoli

I grated Pepper Jack cheese because I didn’t have a bag of shredded cheddar cheese

Placed in a pre-heated oven set on 350~ and cooked for 30 mins. Last 5 mins turned oven to broil to give it a crispy top

Served over Jasmine rice

Dinner is served

OOTD – The Big Cut Down

As stated in a previous post, when thrifing I don’t let larger sizes deter me from making a purchase because it can always be altered.  This red and white polka dot top was a size 2X that I cut down using another shirt as a guide.  I paired it with black and white polka dot capris also thrifted from Goodwill.

2x large shirt thrifted from Goodwill for $3.75

Folded the shirt in half

Used another shirt as a pattern for re-sizing

Cut out leaving enough fabric to stitch

Belted to cinch the waist a bit more

Will not be opening the pool this month!

After Church Sunday

My men -aka- my body guards attended church with me this morning, although we were 30 minutes late we made it.  I didn’t have time for any before pics but I did manage to snap this one pic of Malik dodging the camera – he hates having his picture taken!

Does he think he’s on the run from the CIA?

I love how Tayair paired horizontal with vertical stripes.

Saturday Night – Date Night

Last night hubby and I attended a birthday party for one of his fraternity brothers (Omega Psi Phi) in Wilmington.  The party was held at a small club in town and it was almost like a mini Delaware State College reunion.  A Kappa Alpha Psi party was also going on downstairs and I saw a few brothers that I knew from college.   The catered food was excellent and the crowd was warm, however, we left earlier than midnight because I wanted to go to church in the morning.

The dress was purchased on clearance from Macy’s last August but I never wore it.  My husband’s suit, shirt, shoes and suspenders are his normal work attire however, he chose to go without a tie for a more casual look.
