It’s FRI-YAY the beginning of what is predicted to be a gorgeous weekend. I plan on getting my inside chores done early so that I can sit poolside reading magazines, listening to music and sipping a few cold ones!!! I am not sure what my sons have planned for their pops but hopefully it includes eating out so that I don’t have to cook! I am wishing you all a safe, fun filled, fan-tab-u-lous weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads.
Enjoy!

If you read my Monday blog you know that my week started out mis-matched because I was unable to prepare my outfits for the week on Sunday night.. It didn’t get any better and to make matters worse I stayed up late last night watching the 2-hour premier of Dallas (OMG IT WAS MUST SEE TV) which is why I have 2 OOTD entries today. The dress is BLUE and white polka dot but the shoes were BLACK and white polka dot and even though my son said, “mom it looks alright – I’m tired of taking pictures , I changed my shoes and accessories and this what I ended up wearing to work.

I love to cook dinner for my men but because I have such a long commute from Pennsylvania I am always on the lookout for easy, breezy dinner ideas. Crock pot cooking is definitely my all time favorite but I don’t mind firing up the grill or even the oven during the summer. Last night’s meal was definitely easy, breezy using chicken breasts and Kraft Fresh Take mix. In our house, no meal is complete without a starch and a veggie, I chose Zatarains rice, steamed broccoli and Marie Callenders Cheddar biscuits.

This dress was one of three purchased in May 2009, to wear to my grandmother’s funeral – RIP Mama! Blue was her favorite color and I wanted to wear something blue but ended up wearing the traditional funeral black. It has been hanging in my closet ever since because it has a short cropped jacket and ribbon belt which makes it look very matronly. Today I decided to wear it but without the jacket and ribbon belt and it’s now one of my favorites.

Every time I see red and white gingham my mind takes me back to the family picnics we had as a child. Whether it was at Bear Mountain, NY or Silver Lake, DE spreading that red and white tablecloth across a dirty wooden table meant a day filled with FOOD, FUN, and FAMILY!
One year a bunch of us kids got lost in Bear Mountain and we were scared to death that a real bear was going to eat us (child’s imagination running wild). We roamed around the woods for what seemed like hours, scared and arguing over which way was the right one back. Eventually we found our way and none of the adults seemed to miss us so we didn’t get into trouble and life was good again. Things got even better when we saw that red and white gingham tablecloth covered with FOOD – hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, chips, Kool-Aid, cookies and watermelon! We ate until we got sick and made a pact to never venture into the woods ever again – aaah more wonderful childhood memories!

Why is it that when you are on vacation you tend to buy things that you wouldn’t normally wear at home. That happened to me while in Florida a few years ago when I fell head over heels in love with these gold tone gladiator sandals. Now I can count on one hand just how many times I have actually worn them! It’s not like they are uncomfortable, they are just a bit too shiny for my taste. I have decided to wear them just one more time before they are packed with the rest of the Goodwill donations.

Yesterday I was so busy and exhausted after cleaning out the crawl space after a minor plumbing problem that I didn’t follow my Sunday evening routine. Normally on Sunday nights I prepare my outfits for the week, they are pulled, matched and hung neatly on the outside of my closet door. In the mornings I don’t have to worry about what I am going to wear or waste time trying to match shoes and accessories which for me is vital because I definitely am NOT a morning person. In addition to not having my outfits prepared, I had a restless night thinking about Malik going to an amusement park with his friends today. Can’t imagine why I am so anxious but I can now appreciate how my grandmother felt every time I left the house when I was in High School. I prayed that they have safe passage to and from the park and he did send a text that they had arrived safely.
Now on to today’s miss matched outfit which I didn’t notice until after viewing the pics – not one color in this shirt matches the pants!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and was able to enjoy this beautiful Sunday a day the Lord hath made. The weather is gorgeous but the sun is intense. My men and I worked outside yesterday and I have yet to put on sun screen (smack my hand) and my back is getting darker and darker. Today Tayair and I went grocery shopping at Food Lion, once the weather heats up my menu lightens up so I was able to get everything for less than $100.00!
