You Choose The Shoes New Season

Hello friends, guess what…it’s time for a new season of

You Choose The Shoes”

Now most of you know that I am in the process of de-cluttering in order to downsize the house so we can move to a 55+ community.  However, my closets are the hardest to keep organized because they are overflowing with shoes, purses and clothes, but I am biting the bullet and have been donating with a vengeance.

As a matter of the fact at the time of this reading, these beige pumps will have been donated to my local Goodwill.

The funny thing is, these pumps were thrifted a few years ago from the Salvation Army Family Store and were a closet staple, but the back of the beige ones got a little messed up so it was time to get rid of them.  At first I was going to put them in one of those metal bins on the side of the road but wasn’t  sure where the shoes are sent.

Do you know who collects them and where they are sent?

Well anywho, back to these shoes, I think they both look great with the dress also thrifted and purse but I need you to tell me which color you would have worn with this outfit.

Leave a comment below with your choice for which pair I should have worn with this dress to work and the results will be tallied and posted in the next “YCTS” post.

Oh and if you know anything about those metal bins on the side of the road I would appreciate the information.

You Choose the Shoes – Season 2 – Episode 13

You Choose the Shoes – Episode 13

Can you believe that it’s August and it’s almost time for “Back to SchoolBack to College”?  I have two sons returning to college, one will be at home and the other one away, but it still seems like the summer flew by.

I just found more summer totes and purses under my bed!  I have so many more pairs of summer shoes to wear – where did the time go – I am not ready for the warm weather to end!

I am not going to fret, but I may have to double up on the “You Choose the Shoes” episodes!

YCTS - Yellow and White wedges 009

Both of my sons are working, so back to college shopping won’t break my budget this year – thank you Amazon Fulfillment Center and UDairy Creamery!

Malik has bought most of his “wants”, so we just have to hit the store for a few of his needs, ie. laundry detergent and sheets but not too much since he has most of what he needs from last year.

I will however, be hitting up Family Dollar for his health and toiletry products because they have a large assortment of name brand items for low prices.  Check out next week’s post to see what I purchased.

This week’s contenders are both cutout wedges – yellow verses white.  If you remember, I also have the first pair in Pink, and I will try to wear them before the end of the month in an OOTD.

I love wearing wedge heels as opposed to kitten or high heels because they give more support and makes walking a little easier.

What is your favorite style of shoe?

If you didn’t realized it by now, this just happens to be one of my favorite thrifted dresses not only because of how it fits but because of all the great colors!

So which one will it be – the white wedges….or

the yellow wedges?

Thank you all for your votes in Week 12, the winner was the solid red pair.

Sunday Stylin Roundup

sunday stylin roundup

Hello friends and welcome to Sunday Stylin Roundup.  I trust you all had a wonderful weekend.  We are now into full Autumn attire and I finally got all my closets cleaned – yay me!  I didn’t get an opportunity to wear all of my summer dresses but next week I am going to repost a DIY in which I cut the bodice off a dress to make it a maxi skirt.  I’ll be doing a few more of them as some of the dresses are cut too low to wear without a cover-up.

Here are last week’s outfits.

2 fer 1

These two outfits one I wore at the end of September and the other was early October which is still warm enough to wear peep toes and pencil skirts.

Pencil skirts are by far my favorite types of skirts and the color grey with the classic black and white works equally well with green and beige.  The red necklace is from Rainbow Shops and the beige beads are from Walmart, they have a really nice $5 and $10 Statement necklace assortment #stockingstuffer.

Back to Basics

I call this outfit “Back to Basics“, because the white cotton shirt and tie are reminiscent of my early corporate days at IBM.  Believe it or not, I still have several of the clip on ties that I wore back in the early 80’s!  The skirt is from Walmart and the purse is from Avon as is the bracelets and watch.  I participated in iamfabellis #fabwerkwear Instagram roundup, so if you get a minute go check out the other lovely ladies in classic white work shirts.

Wild n Out

Breaking out the infinity scarves which I have draped around a body-form in the guest bedroom, most of which were on clearance from Burlington Coat Factory, but Walmart also has a large selection as well, starting at $4.97.

Two of my favorite consigned pieces, the Jessica Simpson leopard print peep-toes shoes and this leopard print vintage purse.  A simple top from Boscov’s and brown thrifted skirt made this outfit a mid-week special.

Another infinity scarf breaks of the basic blue skirt from JCPenney and green scoop top thrifted from Goodwill.  I had forgotten about these Unlisted shoes from the Shoe Dept, but seemed to work well with the tote from Target as well as the thrifted pink clutch.

Poncho and Pencil

I ended the work week in a “Poncho and Pencil” skirt and pointy toe shoes from DSW.  The pencil skirt and thrifted sleeveless tank were covered in a printed poncho from Boscov’s.  I didn’t need to change up my purse as the tote from Target worked well. The accessories I chose were a wooden beaded necklace, a Flea Market find, and wood earrings from Claire’s.

So which outfit did you like the best?

Covered Perfectly Review and Giveaway | #spon

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.

Recently I was contacted by Pauline Durban, president and founder of Covered Perfectly, a company whose sole purpose is designing cute, flattering clothing for women over 40.  She asked if I would be interested in a doing a product review and giveaway so after checking out the online catalog I enthusiastically agreed.

There were several cute tops but I selected this Cascading Vest because in my mind I envisioned wearing it to an outdoors party or out to dinner with hubby.  The vest is available in four fabulous prints and because I already had a pair of leopard print shoes I chose this style to match them.

You think that at my age I would have been able to find the perfect bra, after all I’ve been wearing one for over 40 years. I remember my first lacy training bra, it itched to no end, but I was happy because I was wearing a bra. After training the tata’s I moved on to the real deal, a big girl’s bra, with hooks and no itchy lace. Despite that I’ve never been able to find one that fits in all areas…the front, the back, and the sides. I want one that doesn’t pinch or poke, one that has straps that won’t slide down my arm, oh, and it has to look sexy and be easy to wash.

Am I asking for too much?

Just the other day, I looked in the mirror and could have sworn that I was looking at my grandmother! The bra I had on didn’t have any support, the fabric was frayed and I was sagging – remind you of anyone?

Maxine bra shopping

You know thrifty me, I’ve gone the cheap route when purchasing bras, but I’ve also gone the expensive route getting fitted and everything but after awhile they don’t fit right. I am now on a mission to find the perfect bra before my 53rd birthday, and I’m starting online at unbelievabra.com

I checked out the website and have chosen the Silkee Short Minimizer because it’s advertised as having a smooth design, so there will be no unsightly lines, makes you look slimmer – a definite plus AND straps that will never fall down – ding…ding…ding, ladies

Silkee Short Minimizer I think we have a winner!

What about you, do you have the perfect fitting bra?
