“Vanessa Williams is one of the most respected and multi-faceted performers in entertainment today. Vanessa’s passion for heart health education is a personal one – both of her grandmothers died from heart attacks at a young age, which has been the driving force behind Vanessa’s own healthy and active lifestyle. ”
Vanessa has teamed up with Bayer HealthCare, the makers of Bayer® Aspirin to support the Handbags & Hearts campaign, which urges women to take the Handbags & Hearts pledge to carry aspirin at all times to be prepared for a sudden heart attack. You too can lend your support in many ways including sharing a story of how heart disease may has affected you or a loved one.

It all started with an email containing a picture of these Fioni floral heels and then another email with a $10 off coupon, it was then on like popcorn! I’m so sorry that I fell off the “won’t shop this month” wagon…but not so sorry that I won’t share this Payless shoe haul with you!
These Fioni Kit Print heels were my intended but weren’t available in my size, the sales associate called other stores and found a pair at the Concord Mall. I was then given a $4.00 coupon for the inconvenience of having to go to another location to purchase. The manager and both sales associates were very pleasant and helpful, making my shopping experience a positive one, so much so that I purchased 4 pairs!
Pink Brash – didn’t buy but were perfectly priced @ $9.00
Black Fioni Kipsie – on sale 1/2 price
Predictions Natural – $10
Brash Purple – $7.00
Christian Siriano for Payless – La Femme Exotic
Also available in Oxblood
Thanks to the helpful and pleasant staff at Payless!
Total shoe haul with coupon and AAA card discount was $37.78
I drove to the Concord Mall after work to get the Fioni Kit Print and also got the Fioni Kipsie in Pink, spending an additional $26.08, used AAA card and $2.00 off code for completing the online survey printed on the receipt! This shoe haul netted 6 pairs of shoes, averaging $10.60 each pair, I now have more than enough for the season and will begin purging existing to donate or sell at next month’s flea market.
Next stop is to the salon for a much needed pedicure!
Have a great weekend – Smooches!

Hello Friends and Happy President’s Day 2013
Lucky lucky you if you are home today on holiday because “it’s as cold as a witches’ tit”! I remember that as being one of my mother’s favorite sayings during those cold New York winters. Do you remember any crude statements that your parents or grandparents liked to say way before it would be considered politically incorrect? (careful)
In honor of President’s Day I was going to wear Red with Blue and White Polka Dots but it’s just too cold. Instead I chose the warm and cozy flannel shirt that my son put in the “to be donated” box but never made it, a thrifted khaki skirt and knee high boots – it’s all about keeping warm! I like these boots because they can be worn full length showing the brass studs or folded over to reveal the leopard print – two styles in one for less than $20!
Flannel Shirt – son’s giveaway // Skirt – GW Boutique (Goodwill) // Boots – Rugged Wearhouse // Watch – Avon // Rings, Earrings and Bracely – Jewelry Box // Belt –
I’ve added more pictures to my “As Seen Through My Car Window” page – check them out when you get a chance.
Have a fantabulous afternoon – Smooches!

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
Yay, today my energy level is high, and I am getting excited about having off next week – I hope to take a day or two and just do nothing! I also plan to use a day to clean out my closets and prepare a large Goodwill donation before the end of the year. Raising a glass to a productive and stress free day – cheers!
Checking for Malik’s school bus – don’t want him to be late for school – lol
Maxi Skirt – EastEssence.com // Zebra Print Top – Walmart // Poncho – Boscov’s // Brown Suede Granny Boots – TJ Maxx
How do you like the pattern mixing of the poncho with the top? I used to love wearing Ponchos in High School.

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
Today’s titled post; “Broken Boot Heel” makes me wonder why I bought these boots in the first place. I like the color but am no longer excited about them nor do I think they are cute. Perhaps if I had worn them with long pants or a maxi skirt? Hmm…well, I’m wearing them today but will probably donate to Goodwill before the end of the season.
What do think?
Black Gauchos – closet staple // Purple Top and Boots – Rugged Wearhouse // Blazer – GW Boutique (Goodwill)
Necklaces and Earrings – jewelry box
This morning I donated a bag of toys to Toys for Tots so I am linking up Thoughtful Thursday and Katterine’s Corner – hop on over to meet a new blogger and be inspired

I was in Wilmington on Thursday for a doc appointment and afterwards I drove over to The Salvation Army which is located by the train station. As a child I remember my grandmother taking us shopping at a Salvation Army on North Avenue in New Rochelle and it was never fun or exciting. However, when I walked into this Salvation Army my heart started palpatating and my mind filled with excitement! It had been over 16 years since the last time I was here and things had really changed, the lighting was bright, the merchandise was neat and the space was huge. It was here back in the early ’90’s that we bought our first dining room set, a Butler’s Pantry and a crib. The pieces were nice but I had to strip and re-stain the table, re-upholster the chair pads and disinfect the crib. Although we no longer have the dining room set or crib I did keep the Butler’s Pantry and it is currently in our living room storing the “good China” and wedding photo albums.
According to the history of The Salvation Army it was founded based on the gospel of Jesus Christ helping the poor, the homeless, the hungry, and the destitute and what William Booth started in 1865, is just as relevant today. Donating and shopping at The Salvation Army helps so many people and great causes that it makes you feel good about spending money in their stores.
Upon entering this location what struck me was the department store atmosphere, the bright lighting, the open landscape, overly organized and color coordinated merchandise. I spent the first few minutes just walking around checking out the signage, tags and watching and listening to the associates interact with customers. The associates were busy on the floor yet, when they passed, they acknowledged you with a smile and a few kind words, this really made me feel welcomed, wanting to linger longer and spend more. I was so impressed that I sought out an employee who turned out to be the store manager, Don Walker. I expressed my delight explaining that I was a Blogger and would be writing about my positive experience. He thanked me, provided an update on the changes at the Salvation Army and then took the time to explain and write down the sales policies.
-
Monday and Tuesday – 1 color tag in every department is 50% off
-
Wednesday is Family Day and 3 colors in clothing, shoes and books are 50% off
-
Thursday/Friday/Saturday – 1 color tag in clothing and shoes is 50% off (yesterday it was Blue)
I love the fact that they are closed on Sundays, and sometimes I wish Delaware would return to the days of the “Blue Laws”. Stores were closed and people went to church, rested and/or spent time with family and friends. I think we all need a day to shut down and just take time to relax especially during these crazy times of discord. Don also told me that they get new furniture from a local store and it’s sold at extremely reduced prices, so if you are in the market for a leather Lazy Boy Chair, come here first. I took a lot of pictures so you can see just how organized, and spacious this location is and I vowed to return to do more shopping and less documenting.
Please note, because I took so many pics inside the store, I need to write another post detailing just my purchases. Look closely at the pictures to see how neat and clean the floors are, the hangers are all set straight, no dust on the furniture and the mirrors sparkle…I need this at my house!

FRI-YAY ~ 1st DAY OF JUNE ~ END OF THE WORK WEEK!
It can’t get any better than that but I do hope that the rain holds off because tomorrow I plan on setting up a table at the Flea Market in Middletown. Over the past few weeks I have doing some serious purging around the house in hopes of making a few extra dollars, but anything that doesn’t sell will be donated to Goodwill!
Top and Pants – Goodwill// Belt and Shoes – Ross
I don’t remember where I purchased the bracelets and ring, but I bought the earrings from a shop in Rehoboth Beach back in the 80’s

A few Saturdays ago my son drove me to the Middletown Goodwill so that I could donate a box of clothing and electronics. He’s still working on his 50 hours of supervised drive time as per the state’s Graduated Licensing Program and I enjoyed being chauffeured.
Of course after I donated in the back we went to the front for a little shopping!
