You Choose the Shoes ~ Season 2 ~ Week 3
Hello friends and welcome to Week 3 of You Choose the Shoes. I think I have gotten my husband back on schedule with the pics and now that the weather is warmer he is more committed! Last week I wore a black and white outfit but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do the same with the shoes, so I definitely need your help in choosing this week.
These cute Cushion Walk black and white shoes are from Avon and the Caliente Reds are from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Square Mall.
I tried to break up the black and white scheme with a few red accessories, bracelet from Old Navy and watch also from Avon. The necklace and ring are both from Walmart, part of my recent #WearWalmart statement necklace/jewelry haul.
I think with the Torte Caliente red pumps the accessories are more noticeable, what do you think?
Oh, and by the way, everything else is thrifted from Goodwill; the black top, maxi skirt and white belt. Have you checked out the new Goodwillde.org blog yet? I did tell you that I was writing a “5 under $25” feature didn’t I? Well which pair do you choose?
Thank you for all voting last week, the winners were the nude pumps by an overwhelming majority!
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

You Choose the Shoes ~ Season 2 ~ Week 2
Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes ~ Season 2. Last week, the weather in Delaware was still cool and crisp, it was more Fall like than Spring, but that didn’t stop me from shedding the pantyhose…now I need a serious tan!
I may not have worn pantyhose, but I still needed to cover my legs which is why I chose to wear this Cheetah print maxi skirt. Yes, it’s thrifted from Goodwill and yes, I know that I wore a Cheetah print sweater last week…hey, what can I say…I love Cheetah…just wait until you see the other pair of shoes!
If you remember these shoes, they are the Chinese Laundry suede pumps from DSW, the ones with a little tie in the back.
These Cheetah print pumps (I know…I know) are also from DSW and are definitely one of my favorite pairs of shoes! The blouse was also thrifted from Goodwill and this is one of the $5 statement necklaces from Walmart #WearWalmart
Okay, so which pair do you choose?
Beige, Suede Chinese Laundry
or
Cheetah Print pumps
THANK YOU ALL FOR VOTING LAST WEEK, THE HEELS TOOK IT BY A LANDSLIDE!

You Choose the Shoes ~ Season 2
Hello friends, I didn’t expect to bring back “You Choose the Shoes” this soon, but after getting dressed yesterday morning, I realized that I hadn’t worn many of my flats during the winter. The weather is still cold and gloomy, so in anticipation of warmer days and brighter open-toe shoes, we might as well kick it off now!
I decided to wear black pants mid-week and match my sweater with the shoes, so the factors of this contest is heels -vs- flats, open toe or loafers. Take a look at both and let me know what you think.
The cheetah print top was thrifted from Goodwill, the loafers were purchased from CitiTrends, and black slacks (pants) from Boscov’s.
In keeping with the cheetah prints, I chose to wear brass accessories, necklace and earring set was a gift from hubby 10+ years ago, bracelet and ring are jewelry box staples.
So will it be comfy casual in the flats or heel height with covered tootsies in the Jessica Simpson peep toe pumps?
I hope to bring out the Spring shoes soon or at least add to my collection with a few trips to Payless, Ross and Burlington Coat Factory!
THIS IS TRULY A THANKFUL THURSDAY!!!

Saying Goodbye to the Snow
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. Today on this soggy Saturday, I think we can finally say “goodbye” to the snow, but with a few more weeks of winter, I will not be saying “goodbye” to my winter whites.
I was never one who stopped wearing white after Labor Day, however, there are a few ways in which to wear white in the winter to keep it seasonal. Please click the link below to read more of these tips in my article in LadiesLife.com magazine.
Enjoy the weekend and Stay Warm!

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. I was hoping that by the time we stepped into March, we would be stepping into Spring, unfortunately in Delaware, we are still stepping in snow!
I was out and about on Friday and Saturday and it wasn’t too bad, but yesterday morning it was snow, sleet and rain so I just got back into bed and pulled the covers over my head. With a dip in overnight temps this morning the roads were slick and trees were bent but at least we are better off than we were this time last year!
Not wearing a skirt or dress today, instead I decided to pull out my “goldenrod” suede suit, what color do you see? By the way, what’s it up with the “color of the dress“ controversy? I tried to get my girls to explain it to me on Saturday night, but actually I just wanted to know whose dress it was but they couldn’t tell me, so if you know, please let me know.
With this suit, the animal print scarf breaks up the color and booties are my go-to ones in the winter. I hope that spring comes soon because stepping into snow and ice with heels can be dangerous! I hope the weather is better where you are, enjoy and be safe!

WIWW – Mixing Metals
Hello friends and happy Hump Day Wednesday. I hope all is well in your world. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Headed to Hollywood Part II – Scenes from the Shoot, I have some great photos to show you.
Having come back to the cold weather in Delaware with snow flurries in the forecast I opted to wear pants twice last week. Do you mix your metals? I mean do you wear silver accessories with gold accessories, bronze with rose gold, etc? I think most of you will say, no, but I actually enjoy doing so and have quite a few pieces of mixed metals that I love to wear.
I like that this sweater has gold threading but that doesn’t automatically make me want to wear gold tone jewelry, instead I rather like wearing silver and gold mixed metals. I recently read an article Four Secrets of Style:Rules That Are Meant To Be Broken, and one of those rules are mixing metals.
The boots were a recent purchase from Rainbow Shops, they had a Buy One Get another ½ price and I wore them to LA. Believe it or not they are very comfortable and didn’t hurt my feet walking through the busy airports. The clutch was also purchased at Rainbow Shops. The pants are Talbot, thrifted and this sweater is so old I can’t remember where it was purchased.
The mixed metal necklace, and “Basketball Wives” inspired earrings are both from Jewelrymax.net; ring from Avon and bracelet from a flea market vendor. Mixing metals allows you to wear your costume jewelry much more often.
What is your favorite metal, Gold, Silver or Bronze?

Saving my Suede in the Snow
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. Ole’ Man Winter made an appearance earlier this month and dumped a few inches of snow across the Mid-Atlantic area. I used to love watching the snow fall, but now I hate it, driving in it is the worse…it took me over 3 hours to get to work! I was exhausted by the time I got there and I envy folks who can telecommute…unfortunately I’m not one of them.
Most of you know that I really don’t like wearing pants to work, so in order to keep warm on extremely cold and snowy days, I’ll wear tights and a pair of my suede boots. However, not getting them wet is nearly impossible so each season I make sure to spray them with a leather and suede protector.
This brand was purchased at Payless and it does have a strong odor, so make sure to use it in the garage or outdoors weather permitting. Now I can step deep into the snow or pose on the deck without worrying about messing up my boots.

Wore these later on in the month
How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Hello friends and welcome to the 2nd feature of the special Holiday series created by fellow thriftinista FashionPlaceKC. This one is entitled Sparkle & Shine for the Holidays.
I love dressing up for the holidays, but not totally glitz and glam because I am more of a “Stay At Home” party person. Years ago, pre-marriage I would get all dressed up and hit the clubs, but now it’s more like visiting family or the neighbors and then home by midnight.
I do love glitter and these shoes and purse were actually purchased from Payless a few years ago for a holiday party. The top was thrifted from Goodwill and when I posted a pic of it two weeks ago on Instagram I received a lot of compliments. The necklace is Jewelrymax.net and the bracelet/ring is Avon. The mink stoles belonged to my grandmother, and I very rarely if ever wear them, but I will also never ever part with them.
Believe it or not, I just threw on a pair of stretch pants to complete this comfy, house party outfit.
I also found this cute top and sequin belt at Goodwill. I decided to wear them over a pair of leggings but for this picture only. Hubby didn’t think they were something that I should have featured because I would never wear them out of the house. Oh well, the outfit is kinda cute so I’ll probably just wear it around the house, sans the heels, belt and purse of course. What do you think?
Now pop over to FashionPlateKC‘s blog and link up your holiday sparkle and shine outfits, and don’t forget to bring the wine!

Hello friends, Happy 1st Sunday. I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to spend some time with family, friends and perhaps do a little shopping. We had a soggy Saturday, but that didn’t stop a lot of people from heading out. Hubby and I actually spent a few hours at Wally World (Walmart) but not to do any Christmas shopping, it was groceries only.
Believe it or not, I haven’t put up one decoration nor brought the tree up from the basement! I’m not into the spirit just yet, however, I do know that by this time next weekend everything will be done!
This weekend may have been cold and soggy, but last weekend it was nice and sunny so this is what I wore to church. The pencil skirt is JC Penney and the top is so old, that I can’t remember where it was purchased, I do know that it was a suit and I donated the pants.
The clutch was purchased from DSW and the Traci Lynn Necklaces and Bracelet were a gift from hubby.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day, I’m heading down to Smyrna, for the 2nd Goodwill Stylist pull for the 2015 Runway Show.

Hello friends, and Happy Friday eve. It feels like this week dragged by, I guess with the Thanksgiving holiday it spoiled me for not having to work 5 days which was a great mini-vacation. Oh well, I am getting back into the swing of things because December is going to be a very busy month.
Last Thursday I, like many others were thankful for the opportunity to spend time with my family and especially for having our son home from college. This Thursday, I am thankful that he is back in school studying hard for finals (yea, I said it…don’t laugh) and for also having an opportunity to be the Social Media Manager for B.O.S.S., which I will tell you more about next week.
Today, I am also thankful for being invited by FashionPlateKc, to participate in a special holiday fashion series, and this week the first post is entitled Mad for Holiday Plaid.
Plaid is a classic pattern, but most times you think of it being worn only by girls in school uniforms. I have several plaid blazers in my closet but they are black and grey and I wanted something more festive. I kinda lucked out when I found this green plaid blazer at Goodwill last week.
Even after removing the shoulder pads and pushing up the sleeves it was still too snug so I’ll have to re-donate it. The sleeveless turtleneck and skirt as well as the Nine West purse were also thrifted.
The beads were a great find from a Flea Market Vendor and the brown colorblock shoes are from Rugged Wearhouse.
Fortunately, I also found another plaid blazer and if you didn’t know, Goodwill is the best place to find a large assortment of blazers, most have shoulder pads, but hey, you can always cut them out.
I am calling this outfit Plaid and Pearls which I paired with fur trimmed grey booties and purse. All I needed was a fur hat and I would have been ready for old man winter!
The last outfit is with a plaid blazer which I bought well over 20 years ago but I still love it. The blouse is thrifted and the pencil skirt is from JC. Penney. Time for the tights and booties because Jack Frost has been getting nippy!
Okay, now it’s your turn, to participate in this link up so just follow these three simple rules:
At least one item must be thrifted.
At least one item must be plaid.
You must display your personal thrift style.
