OOTD – Casual FRI-YAY

FRI-YAY – FRI-YAY ~ thanking God we made it through another work week without any hurt, harm or danger!  Heading out shortly to start the weekend, a relaxing one with no major projects other than organizing the shoes scattered throughout my closet – yay!  Casual Friday I decided to wear my DIY maxi shirt (here) with a plain red top, and a pair of flat sandals from DSW.

Maxi dress/skirt and top – Walmart// Sandals – DSW (last year)// Necklace – Jewelrymax.net// Bangels and Ring – Jewelry box

Have a fantabulous weekend!

OOTD – “It’s All Greek To Me” – ΣΓΡ and ΩΨΦ Colors Blocked

Hello friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!  You know the days when you put on your clothes and something just doesn’t fit right, or in my case fits too tightly, well that was how my morning started.  As you know on Sunday nights I prepare my outfits for the week but today it was a “pull from the closet” morning.  I put on and then changed 3 skirts, 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of capris and 2 tops because none of them fit right…all too tight!! Not enough “labor” over the holiday, too many Michelobs and Seagrams so now it’s back to the elliptical with a vengeance and summer indulgences are a distant memory!!

After all those changes this is what I ended up wearing, an outfit that is color blocked with my Sorority colors Royal Blue and Gold, (ΣΓΡ ~ Sigma Gamma Rho), and hubby’s Fraternity colors Purple and Gold, (ΩΨΦ ~ Omega Psi Phi).

Top – Goodwill// Skirt – Old Navy// Belt – Rainbow Shops// Wedges – Marshalls

Bangles (separated ) by a large bracelet – Rainbow Shops// White Stone Ring – Avon // Earrings – Samsbeauty.com

I think I hid those extra pounds nicely!!

Labor Day DIY’s

20120903-203950.jpg

I hope everyone had a great holiday filled with fun, family and lots of food. Our holiday included a little shopping and a lot of grilling including today. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day and there were even reports of tornado-like winds downstate. Because of the weather we spent the day inside and I did a few chores and DIY projects.

Although unofficially this is considered the last day of summer, I am not ready to put away the summer clothing, including the white! We still have Indian Summer in October and during that time some of the days can be balmy.

One of my DIY projects was up-cycling a Maxi dress, cutting off the bodice above the elastic waist to make it a skirt. Now the maxi skirt will be worn with a light-weight pullover during Indian Summer or with boots and long, bulky sweater in the fall.

The black, faux suede loafers were purchased from Walmart for $14.97. I haven’t decided which embellishment to use, but at that price I may get a few more pairs to create different styles.

I hope you have a stress free and productive work week, try not to squeeze 5 days into 4 because it never works!!!

OOTD – Sodium + Suds = Stretch Skirt

God blessed us with another gorgeous summer weekend and today I am plowing through Monday like a turtle on steroids!   This morning I had to add extra spinach and kale to my green smoothie because I over did it with the sodium and suds.   Yesterday afternoon good friends of ours stopped by the house after leaving Maryland en-route home to New York.   Anytime someone visits us from Maryland I always have just one request – BRING SOME CRABS!!!!   In our house summer isn’t complete without sitting at the table covered in newspaper with a bowl of melted butter and hot sauce cracking open steamed crabs covered in Old Bay Seasoning.   Of course I must wash it down with a cold beer!   Add some boiled corn (which I forgot), potato salad and shrimp and everything is right with the world.

This outfit was laid out last week, and it’s perfect for today because it’s covering the results of too much sodium and suds but oh it was so well worth it!

Maxi Skirt – NY&Company // Zebra Print Top – Closet staple// Shoes – Charlotte Russe// Bracelet – Jewelrymax.net// Earrings and Ring – Icings// Green Smoothie ingredients are on my Instagram page

OOTD – Maxi Dress to Maxi Skirt at Work

I chose to cover the maxi dress with a top and belt because I’m not comfortable wearing skinny straps to work. The temps are expected to reach 100~ and we have a scheduled fire drill at 2:30 this afternoon so I might have to remove the top while outside.

Maxi Dress – Ross// Sleeveless Top – Goodwill// Sandals – Ross// Belt – Ross// Bracelet – Mizoutlet.com//Ring – Flea Market Vendor// Earrings – Burlington Coat Factory// Sunnies – won from @PennyChic
