I have decided to get back to the foundation of my blog DeDivahDeals ~ Fashion and Fun after Fifty and will be posting more outfit’s of the day (#OOTD) These posts won’t be long in commentary so SEO will be low.
Most of the outfits featured will probably be ones that you have seen before with a little twist. However, since I have cut back on shopping and Goodwill thrifting I will only be featuring closet staples.
As women we all have preconceived notions when it comes to what’s a good fit for our body type. For example, I always felt uncomfortable about purchasing “body con” type skirts. But I fell in love with this mint green and polka dot skirt from The Rainbow Shops and took a chance on buying it.
Had I known that it didn’t look as bad on me as I had thought, I would have purchased another one in fuchsia. Unfortunately, I had waited too late in the season so when I finally went back there weren’t any left in my size.
The black peplum top was purchased from JC Penney when they had a store in the Exton Square Mall. Since they are no longer there it gives me yet another reason to stay out of the mall! #bloggers4jcpenney
This gorgeous two-tone purse is from Avon (Mark) and I love the mint accent on the side which makes it a perfect accent for the outfit.
The patent leather slides are Jessica Simpson brand from Marshalls, also purchased several years ago. The ring is Avon and the multi-color rhinestone bracelet with hints of mint was probably picked up from Burlington Coat Factory.
Believe it or not, the statement necklace is a flea market find that I colored with nail polish!
I love a good jewelry DIY especially when it involves stones and paint or in this case polish.
Is there a particular item of clothing that you feel doesn’t flatter your figure?

Afraid to wear white!
Some of you know from previous posts that I am afraid to wear all white..why…because it brings out the kid in me. You know that kid who inevitably and by the end of day has spilled something on themselves while wearing an all white outfit. Plus it reminds me of when my sister, cousins and I got Baptized at Gospel Tabernacle Church in the 70’s!
Anywho, I finally went through all of my closets and dresser drawers earlier this summer and got rid of a lot of clothes that were either too small or I hadn’t worn in years. I sold most of them for $1.00 a piece at my Yard Sales and the rest I donated to Goodwill and the Boys and Girls Club.
A pair of white linen pants are a summer wardrobe staple, but unless you want to look like a wrinkled mess in a few hours, I suggest you wear them when you’re not traveling in a car or plane for hours.
Because I love the black and white combination and polka dots are my favorite I chose to pair them with a sleeveless tank and black strap sandals.
The polka dot purse was a great find at Family Dollar, and like I said before, “don’t sleep on the Dollar Stores” especially when it comes to accessories.
When you just need to grab a purse and go on a casual Friday or weekend, this bag works.
Do you have a fear of wearing white or am I the only one?

Hello friends and welcome to the weekend!
Today is my 53rd Birthday and later on I will be celebrating it with my hubby and son with a dinner down at the Christiana Riverfront.
In the meantime, I thought I would post a few summer outfits that didn’t quite make it to the blog. However, if you follow me on Instagram you might remember seeing some of them in a “Fashion after Fifty” post.
You know how much I love black and white polka dots, so with this outfit I accented it with gold accessories. Both the top and pants are thrifted, the purse is quite old as are the sandals. The bracelet was purchased at the QVC Outlet in Frazer, PA, Avon watch and the ring is from Old Navy.
This was another Casual Friday with white jeans and sequins top which I had never worn during the day, but hey, YOLO and I’m over 50! The purse was found at Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop in West Chester, PA and the studded sandals are staples in my closet.
This was another fun outfit, with the pink lace top, pink gingham shoes from Rugged Wearhouse and multi-color purse from Ross. I chose to anchor the outfit with a black pencil skirt.
And finally my all time favorite outfit of the season, mixing brown and blue with a studded top thrifted from Goodwill, faux Jimmy Choo purse and multiple bangles from Old Navy. The faux Snakeskin pumps from Target are a pair of my favorite pumps so they will be worn a lot this fall.
So what do you think, not bad for an old lady huh…?
Which outfit do you like best?

Hello friends,
welcome to Week 21 of “You Choose the Shoes“. I’ve had so much fun with this mid-week feature and I love all of your comments, but as with all good things this too must come to an end. As the weather cools so will the contest and September most likely will be the last month until Spring, but who knows I may change my mind. What say you?
I learned so much at last weekend’s SITSGirls Bloggy Boot Camp which you can read about tomorrow, that I am going to make a few changes to my blog. There will be changes to the posting schedule as well as the topics but I think you will like it so stay tuned.
Now lets get to to last week’s contest…by an overwhelming majority the winners were the HEELS!
This week’s contenders are Madden Girl versus Madden Girl or big Polka Dots versus little Polka Dots or as I like to call them my “Betty Boop” shoes. Speaking of Betty Boop, do you know the origination of the cartoon character? I recently heard on the Tom Joyner Morning Show that she was a “stolen” caricature based on jazz singer “Baby” Esther Jones. If you want to read more about it click here.
Do you remember this sheath dress from eShakti? I love the style and wearing it but by the end of the day it is so wrinkled!
These Madden Girl heels were purchased a few years ago from DSW and were actually featured in the 1st “You Choose the Shoes” post.
The necklace and earrings are Avon and bracelet is from Old Navy, purchased for $1.99.
I love my polka dot Betty Boop shoes, but which pair looks better with this sleeveless sheath?
Okay, are you ready to make a decision? Will it be Madden Girl big Polka Dots or…
Madden Girl little polka dots?

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.
This Peachy Polka Dot outfit never made it onto the blog in May, but I couldn’t let it pass by without a least an honorable mention. I love Polka Dots and this dress was one of the ones I purchased at Boscov’s in 2005 when I was searching for something to wear to my grandmother’s funeral. She loved the color blue and polka dots as much as I, however, I ended up wearing a traditional black dress.
I love this dress and I usually end up wearing it at least 4 times a year. Because it’s sleeveless, it obviously works well in the Spring and Summer, however, if I throw on a cardigan or pullover sweater it works equally well in the Fall and Winter.
The dress originally came with a blue ribbon belt and bolero jacket, however, I decided to wear it with this peach, thick waisted belt which was purchased from Rugged Wearhouse for only $1.00. Needless to say, at that price I got several in different colors, isn’t the oversized sheer flower in the front cute?
The Polka Dot purse was also from Rugged Wearhouse and I may have mentioned this before, but they have some cute and inexpensive accessories. The necklace and earring set is from Avon and the shoes are Urbanog.com.
What is your favorite print or pattern?
I am linking up with Style elixir – so come on over if you want to see other great polka dot dresses.

Hello Friends and Happy Thankful Thursday.
Today I can say that I am thankfully blessed for being steadily employed in Corporate America since 1984, and even though I was laid off in 2005, I am now a contractor for that same company. A job loss can be devastating in so many ways but today’s post is addressing the loss of a wardrobe style.
In the 80’s women were trying to get ahead in corporate America so the power suit became fashionable, and women dressed to impress in the workplace. The stand-out piece of the power suit was the jacket, often boxy and long, with big shoulder pads and worn with matching knee-length skirts.
In the 90’s, the power suit became a bit more relaxed and more colorful, the long boxy jackets got shorter and the shoulder pads smoothed down. I remember hubby buying me expensive suits although he knew I had a thrifter’s taste, or as it likes to call me “cheap”…anywho, a lot of those suits have been donated.
With the change in Corporate attire to Corporate Casual I no longer buy or thrift power suits. However, I do have one that I kept solely because of the color, and because of the color I choose not to wear it together as a suit, I had to break them up.
I broke them up and wore the jacket with a pencil skirt and polka dot top thrifted from Goodwill
I broke them up and wore the skirt with a sleeveless tank thrifted from Goodwill
Earring and necklace set from Avon
Color block purse was purchased at Spence’s Bazaar, a flea market in Dover
Breaking up a suit is not hard to do and it actually gives you more wardrobe options.
What are your thoughts?
Color block flats are from CitiTrends
Necklace was new, thrifted from Goodwill
Today I am also thankful for my family, friends and of course my faith. I am extremely thankful that this color has come back in style and the suit still fits!
What are you thankful for this week?
Have a great day and we’ll chat tomorrow.

Hello Friends, when you’re heading out for brunch with hubby or lunch with the ladies do you find choosing just the right thing to wear a daunting task? Do you open your closet door, stare inside and say, “I have nothing to wear?” Well when hubby and I decided to head to Aqua Sol for Sunday Brunch, I knew exactly what I was going to wear.
This Polka Dot Sheath dress from Midnight Velvet was perfect for an afternoon at the Marina. Sleeveless with a side zipper made it comfortable enough for sitting in the sun and the polyester/spandex blend made it stretchable enough to enjoy a meal without it being too tight afterwards.
I chose to wear my “caliente” pumps to match the red belt which gave it more of a colorful pop.
As part of Midnight Velvet’s Summer 2014 catalog this dress is definitely a confident summer style with pizzazz. The side pockets were a nice added feature and perfectly sized to drop in my cell phone.
Now to assist you with the “I have nothing to wear” dilemma, Midnight Velvet has offered to give one of my lucky readers at $50 Midnight Velvet Gift Certificate. This Rafflecopter giveaway will end at midnight on June 30th, so hurry and enter today.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
I love the Spring and Summer seasons, not only because of the warmer weather but because of the shoes! Sandals and open-toes are my favorites, but wedges, platforms, kitten heels, high heels, pumps, flats, it doesn’t matter, I wear them all.
I know that I’m not alone when I say, “I LOVE Shoes“. I’ve been known to purchase 3 different pairs all at the same time…all on the same day… AND all at the same store ~ I LOVE Shoes! Unfortunately, having only one pair of feet can cause a dilemma, the decision on which pair to wear for a particular outfit can be frustrating.
This new blog feature, “You Choose the Shoes” is helping me by giving you an opportunity to choose the pair of shoes that I’ll wear with a particular outfit of the day.
Okay, for this outfit which pair should I wear?
The Polka Dot sleeveless tank was thrifted from Goodwill and red Capri pants were on clearance at JC Penney?
Madden Girl Polka Dots from @DSW
or
Glo Jeans wedges from @Kmart
My hubby and son chose The Madden Girl
I had to do one of those 3-toe polishes this morning, but I will be making an appointment for my annual Spring pedicure!
So which one did you choose?
I’ll be linking up with my favorite fashionistas Whitney Nic James and Shana at ColorBlind, so when you get a chance hop over and check out their thrifted finds.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hello friends, I hope you had a nice weekend and was able to do something special with the extra hour on Sunday.
As you know, I’ve been on a mini self-imposed shopping freeze so I didn’t need to…but I wanted to…therefore, I did! I thawed the freeze just a bit and this is the result of a mini thrifted haul from GW Boutique in Newark! It was my first time at this location on the campus of The University of Delaware, but it definitely will not be my last.
You can never have too many skirts!
I am a proud, card carrying Goodwill VIP
This thrifted haul cost less than $20 and it even included a Graduation Gown that my son wore to a Halloween party last weekend
(he better be wearing a real one in May!)
I love love love this Talbots Floral Skirt – $3.75
J Crew Grey Skirt Skirt – $3.75
JCPenney Worthington Suede Maxi Skirt – $3.75
You know I couldn’t pass on these polka dot capris – $3.75
What do you think?
Have you done any Fall thrifting?
Linking up today with Thrifters Anonymous so come on over and meet some other great thriftanistas.
Have a fantabulous day – Smooches!

Hello friends
I hope you are enjoying the day and all is good in your neighborhood. I still haven’t decided as to where we will be going to see fireworks. We will either go to Wilmington and see Macy Gray, or downtown Middletown or maybe just stay home and watch WaWa Welcome America featuring Kevin Hart, The Roots, Ne-Yo, Jill Scott, and others.
Where do you go to see 4th of July fireworks?
This is what I wore to work yesterday, how do you like my Red White & (Polka Dot) Blue outfit?
Top – Ross // Jeans – JCPenney
Sandals – Ross // Watch – Avon
Be safe – Smooches!
