Hello friends, the countdown to turkey day is on? Do you believe that I didn’t realize that Thanksgiving was this Thursday until just the other day. I kept thinking we had another week.
Anywho, here we are once again, a Sunday Stylin Roundup and in keeping with last week’s theme, today it’s Black N Bootie. I wore my booties with two different outfits both of which I love but of course the leopard prints are my favorites.
This vest was thrifted from Goodwill about 2 years ago, however, I’ve only worn it one other time. It is actually covering this Avon embroidered chambray shirt. The black suede booties are Unlisted purchased a couple of years ago from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. Necklace is from Jewelrymax.net and bangles from Rugged Wearhouse. You know that these are my favorite pair of booties – who doesn’t love leopard?
In both outfits I am wearing closet staples, black slacks, skirt and turtleneck which personally are not my favorites but the weather called for it. I wore the leopard print scarf to break up all the black. This outfit actually received quite a few compliments from co-workers.
I am using my old camera which for some strange reason is not taking as good of pictures as it used to, oh well I guess I’ll start using the Coolpix L830, however, it uses 4-AA batteries and I hate when batteries start to drain. Next week, let me know if you notice a difference.
Enjoy the rest of the day and I hope you finished your grocery shopping…I haven’t even started mine yet!
Hello friends, I trust you all had a wonderful weekend, mine was quite busy and it’s going to continue late into the night.
This evening I will be heading up to Wilmington to cover the Gordesi Launch Experience – Summer 2015 Collectionas part of the VIP Press corp. I am really looking forward to attending this fashion event and I can’t wait to bring you all the exciting coverage.
Speaking of fashion, here is last week’s outfit roundup.
I am going to title this outfit “All in the Family”. Reading through fashion blogs I learned that if you are going to mix patterns, make sure the colors are all in the same family. So with this maxi skirt and black and white shirt, I chose to wear leopard print shoes and purse, I surprised myself with how it all came together.
The belt, purse and top were all thrifted from Goodwill, the flats were purchased at Citi Trends and the skirt has been in my closet forever. What do you think?
This outfit I am calling “Black and Blue Block”. You know how much I like my sleeveless sheath dresses and this one from Ross is no exception, and with it are my favorite Mia heels and Buddah Bag.
Necklace is Avon and bracelet is Old Navy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the best thing about a sheath dress is that you can wear it all year long by just adding a blazer or cardigan when the temperatures dip. Speaking of Avon, check out my latest YouTube Video, it’s an Avon unboxing which includes beauty supplies that will be part of my Holiday Spa Day Giveaway coming next month!
Here I am in a bright Autumn orange. Orange is definitely a color that works well with my skin tone, not only in the summer but also during the fall. I like this top because it is so colorful and I think it was purchased at Rugged Wearhouse, can’t remember, but the wedge heels were.
I love to mix and match my bangle bracelets as well as the multi color necklace. This Pumpkin floral arrangement was a free find at work, it almost got tossed in the trash but it’s the only thing I use to decorate the house because I donated all the other Halloween decorations a few years ago. Now that my sons are older, we don’t really celebrate it anymore.
Do you decorate the house and yard for Halloween?
My only Halloween Decoration
This last outfit is entitled “Wild Wednesday”. Unfortunately, hubby didn’t get a good view of the peep toe wedges as they also have the “wild stripes” along the bottom.
This purse has been in my closet since 2008, it was one of those “I have to go back and get it” finds at a Flea Market in Orlando. Unfortunately, it has been on the top shelf in my closet for years but I just won’t get rid of it. I love the Egyptian pattern but it’s too small to even hold my wallet!
This khaki skirt was thrifted and the top is a one-piece twin set. In keeping with the wild theme, I am wearing brass earrings, beaded necklace, multi metal bracelet and oversized handmade ring – it was a wild and crazy day! So which outfit did you like the best?
Enjoy the rest of your day and we’ll chat tomorrow atMoney Monday.
Hello friends, each week I will put together a collage of my favorite outfits of the week, then post them here on Sunday Stylin RoundUp.
This first outfit I wore to the SITSGirls Bloggy Boot Camp in Philly. The skirt was a recent purchase from Burlington Coat Factory, as was the tote from Walmart. This tote bag was only $14.97 and they have a large selection in various colors, I will probably pick up another one in Cognac. The sandals and top are closet staples. The necklace and arm band are too old for me to remember where they were purchased but the red bracelet is from Old Navy.
As you can see, I love the tote and wore it again to work the following Monday with a thrifted faux wrap dress from Goodwill and thrifted beige pumps. Necklace from Rugged Wearhouse, bracelet and ring both from Old Navy.
On Sunday, I wore another totally thrifted outfit, dress and purse, however the blue pumps and necklace are from Avon. Ring and bracelet are from Old Navy, as you can see I picked up several, but for $1.99 each wouldn’t you?
If you haven’t noticed by now, black and red is one of my favorite color combinations, and this outfit is definitely one of my summer favs. I wear this thrifted skirt all year long, so you will probably see this entire outfit again with a blazer.
These were my favorite outfits from the first week in September, which one do you like the best?
I don’t know about you, but with each new day I feel as though I can be a blessing to someone else. It can be as simple as retweeting an inspirational messageor leaving a thoughtful comment. Stopping to have a conversation with a co-worker or even a stranger, a smile or just saying, “hello”, because you never know what may be going on in their world.
Life is so precious and I think it’s in the best interest of us all to treat our fellow human beings with kindness and dignity because you never know when you may be looking for someone to do the same for you.
Now, hold on while I put away the soap box.
This Thursday, I am thankful for everyone who is reading this post and would be even more thankful if you shared it! Hey, a blogger can ask can’t she.
I am desperately trying to wear all of my summer clothes before the end of September so this is going to be a 2 fer, maxi skirts that I wore in July and August and also in 2013.
Purple maxi skirt is from Old Navy and the Merona top is from Target which I also wore on June 26th, 2013 (see here)
As you can see “Ms Elle” made an appearance twice this week.
I love having hubby as my photographer, but he doesn’t tell me when something is out of place. He said, “I thought your shirt was supposed to be this way!” Men! Good thing he is not being paid!
The watch is Avon and bracelet from Rugged Wearhouse.
This floral cowl neck tank is one of my favorites which was on clearance at JCPenney last summer. The black skirt is thrifted from Goodwill.
This perfectly sized tote if from Avon as is the wrap around bracelet and watch. I believe the other bracelets and rings were purchased at Rugged Wearhouse and the sandals are from Payless.
I am thankful that I enjoy dressing for less, otherwise I would be broke! I am also thankful for my family, friends and of course my faith.
How about you, what makes you thankful this Thursday?
Stay Blessed ~ No Stress in 2014!
PS Here is the same purple maxi and top on 6/27/13
Welcome to Week 15 of You Choose The Shoes, I am glad that so many of you look forward to this weekly featurejust asmuch as I enjoy posting it.
Last week’s contenders were fun and the votes for each were coming in fast and furious but I think the red belt helped to push the winner over the top.
Now, this week’s contenders are a pair of newbies versus a pair of veterans. The newbies have been in my closet for years yet never saw the light of day and the vets are a pair that have been around and are definitely well worn.
Believe it or not, the newbies are the denim cut-outs with studs…I know right! Nope I’ve never worn them nor do I remember where I purchased them from, all I do know is that I was never going to get rid of them.
The wooden wedges are a summer favorite and I believe were purchased at either Ross or Rugged Wearhouse.
The denim dress was thrifted from Goodwill, bracelet and ring from Old Navy on clearance for $1.99 each! I got 6 different color bracelets and 3 rings, you know I couldn’t pass up that deal.
The chain necklace and earring set was purchased at the Rainbow Shops.
Now back to the shoes, which pair goes better with this
denim maxi dress?
Have you made a decision yet? Do you think denim on denim is too much? Let’s take another look at them with the dress and see.
What do you think?
Wood Wedge Sandals
OR
Denim cut-out heels – YOU CHOOSE NOW
(gotta love my expression!)
While you make a decision and leave a comment I’m going to run over to see Living in Mommywood and Whitney Nic James, then I’ll be back to respond. See ya later!
BTW, we are going to pick up Malik from Bowie this evening – I can’t wait!!!
This Peachy Polka Dot outfit never made it onto the blog in May, but I couldn’t let it pass by without a least an honorable mention. I love Polka Dots and this dress was one of the ones I purchased at Boscov’s in 2005 when I was searching for something to wear to my grandmother’s funeral. She loved the color blue and polka dots as much as I, however, I ended up wearing a traditional black dress.
I love this dress and I usually end up wearing it at least 4 times a year. Because it’s sleeveless, it obviously works well in the Spring and Summer, however, if I throw on a cardigan or pullover sweater it works equally well in the Fall and Winter.
The dress originally came with a blue ribbon belt and bolero jacket, however, I decided to wear it with this peach, thick waisted belt which was purchased from Rugged Wearhouse for only $1.00. Needless to say, at that price I got several in different colors, isn’t the oversized sheer flower in the front cute?
The Polka Dot purse was also from Rugged Wearhouse and I may have mentioned this before, but they have some cute and inexpensive accessories. The necklace and earring set is from Avon and the shoes are Urbanog.com.
What is your favorite print or pattern?
I am linking up with Style elixir – so come on over if you want to see other great polka dot dresses.
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world and welcome back to another week of “You Choose The Shoes“. Once again, I wish to thank all of you who voted in last week’s contest and in an overwhelming majority the winners were:
JESSICA! I think it was the peep-toe thing that pushed her over the top, sorry Christian, but you were more of a winter shoe anyway. Now on to this week’s contenders, and once again, I chose to step outside of the box with the mixing of patterns but only in one pair.
The pink plaid pumps were purchased a few years ago from Rugged Wearhouse, I remember they also had them in green but only a size 6 was available and that is definitely too small for me!
The Carlos Santana pink sandals were thrifted from Goodwill last winter, which is the best time to thrift summer shoes!
One of my favorite summer sheath dresses is this black and white one because of the design. I have several hanging in my closets and my plan is to do a post on Summer Sheaths, so stay tuned.
The bracelets are also from Rugged Wearhouse, my go-to store for costume jewelry.
Okay, get ready to choose the shoes, will it be the pink sandals thrifted from Goodwill – or –
The pink plaid pumps from Rugged Wearhouse
I can’t wait to read all of your comments.
I’ll be hanging out with the ladies over at Whitney’s Personal Style Linkup, so come on over if you have a chance.
Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday. We are halfway through another wonderful week and so we have two new shoe contenders, but before we begin, let’s take a look at last week’s You Choose The Shoes winners.
Were they your choice?
Now the shoes that I picked for this week are similar in print but different in style and I wanted them to compete with the pattern in my dress, take a look:
animal print Jessica Simpson’s peep toe pumps from a consignment shop
The dress was thrifted from Goodwill and like I said, I didn’t want to go with a solid color pump, so I stepped outside of the box with the animal print. What do you think – good choice or not?
Open toe versus closed toe, and they are both equally comfortable.
The extra long beaded necklace was a purchase from Rugged Wearhouse, which is my favorite store for costume jewelry.
Which Shoes Do You Choose?
Will it be Jessica Simpson
or
Christian Sirano?
What are your thoughts on mixing patterns, especially with animal prints.
Guess what, I was featured by Whitney at her Personal Style Linkup, so when you get a chance come on over and check it out!
This has been another blessed week, with our oldest being accepted into the CLSC Program at the University of Delaware and tonight our youngest is graduating from Appoqunimink High School!
I don’t let grass grow under my feet either because in addition to working full time outside of the home I also sell Avon and have been since 2002. Honestly, I don’t have a large customer base but enjoy selling products for a company that has been in business for over 125 years!
I use Anew products on my face and I love how Avon has changed their clothing selections to keep in line with the current trends. Unfortunately, it eats into my profits but that’s okay because I love their accessories, the shoes, sneakers, scarves and especially the totes and purses.
Check out this comfy casual outfit that I wore at the end of April, it’s was totally thrifted from Goodwill but accessorized by Avon.
Scarf – Avon | Polka Dot Top – Goodwill
Polka Dot Sneakers – Avon | Skirt – Goodwill
Color Block Tote – Avon | Black Studded Pumps – The Salvation Army
Last week was an emotional roller coaster filled with both highs and lows. Monday, I taught a Blogging 201 class:Monetizing Your Blog, and it was a full house despite the torrential downpour of rain.
Everyone was enthusiastic, asked questions and participated in lively discussions, it was one of the best classes to date. Thank you again Money School of Delaware for giving me this opportunity not only to share knowledge but to sharpen my skills and expand my base.
Teaching again is helping to lay the foundation for my 5-year plan leading up to retirement/encore entrepreneurship.
My outfit of the day was a black pencil skirt with floral embroidery thrifted from Goodwill, a sleeveless mock neck tank also thrifted from and faux snakeskin pumps via Target.
On Thursday, I wore another black pencil skirt but this one was from JCPenney and the striped top is from Old Navy.
I broke up the classic black and white combination with a pop of red in the Caliente pumps from The Shoe Dept and a red plastic bracelet from Rugged Wearhouse.
The polka dot scarf was a recent purchase from Avon. By the way, if you are looking to update your fragrances or cosmetics Avon has some great deals going on, some even includes FREE shipping, click here for more information.
Thursday was also my sister’s birthday, had she lived, she would have been 51 – Not A Day Goes By….
Although, I am thankful that I had her 29 years, I still feel that she is gone too soon – Rest in Peace Lil Sis!
