Bloggers 4 JCPenney Campaign
JC Penney was the place to shop when I was in High School, but that was the late ’70’s, now most people think of JCP as a place to shop for bedroom slippers, nightgowns or bedding. So last month when I went to the Exton Mall and by chance walked through I was surprised by what I saw. Of course it was the $3/$5 and $10 clearance racks that initially caught my attention (remember this post) but as I looked around I was impressed by other areas including the lingerie, active wear, accessories, and jewelry departments. Since then I’ve read posts by other bloggers who have had similar experiences mostly positive, and that got me thinking about how we could collectively inform others of the changes at JCPenney.
Unfortunately, we have been reading about their struggle in attracting consumers, the disastrous marketing campaigns and the loss of value in their stocks. I have to admit that I personally don’t like the “us-vs-them” approach because it seems negative and negativity is too prevalent in today’s society. JCPenney was established in 1902, and is a company that should be able to weather this storm, I hope their new CEO can create a positive approach in attracting customers back into the stores.
To assist in this endeavor I am starting a #B4JCP Campaign – (Bloggers for JCPenney). This Facebook page and Twitter account will be a catalyst for bloggers to collectively showcase their fashion finds by posting pictures or just writing about their experiences in the store.
In my opinion JCPenney has evolved to become a more trendy and fashionable place to shop, the store’s layout is boutique-like, pleasant, and not intimidating regardless of your price point. The layout and flow is comfortable and inviting, not cramped or overwhelming and they have the latest fashions for everyone.
Friday a new line was introduced, Joe Fresh Clothing by Canadian designer Joe Mimran. There are high hopes that this will help turn JCPenney around, it may, however, I think the current in-store enhancements will assist in that endeavor – they just need to be discovered.

OOTD – Gazebo in Glasgow
Hello Friends, I hope you had a wonderful Saturday!
The weather here was absolutely GORGEOUS and like almost everyone else in town we spent most of the day outdoors. My son and I had a few errands to run which included a stop at Rugged Wearhouse in Glasgow. There’s a gazebo behind one of the medical centers with a lake (and a Home Depot) in the background which made for a good spot to take pictures.

Snack $avings @DollarTree
Hello Friends, I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday!
Recently, I read an article that had suggestions on the products that you should and should not buy at your local Dollar Stores. I agreed that buying party supplies and paper products was a good idea and with not buying toys which may contain high levels of lead. Purchasing cleaning supplies saves money, but I only buy name brands because some of the others are watered down which makes them a waste of money.
The only statement in the article that I did not agree with was that food items should never be purchased. Granted there are some items in a Dollar/99 Cents store that shouldn’t be purchased because of it’s obvious non-compliance with FDA’s regulations, however, there are a lot of products that I would and have bought at Dollar Tree stores.
The state of the economy has forced us all to be more frugal but my sons are trying to eat me out of house and home! They are always snacking and can easily polish off a large bag of chips in one sitting…wonder where they got that from (lol). Therefore, I am always on the hunt, usually with coupons in hand, in search of snacks that they will eat and be satisfied without breaking the bank.
That’s where Dollar Tree comes in, and it has always been my “go to” store for snacks, even when the boys were small, it was the place to stop before going to the movies. Not all products are sold in all stores and I was surprised with what I found in their freezer section, taking note that packaging was clearly marked Made in the USA, (The Bronx, NY, Altoona, PA, Pennsauken, NJ and Rancho Cucamonga, CA). There are many name brand products made specifically for non-grocery type stores as evidenced by their sizes, however, the quality remains the same and manufacturer’s coupons are accepted.

Thank you Jennifer and Christine at store # 3730, Beaver Brook Plaza, New Castle, DE, for a pleasant shopping experience. The shelves were fully stocked and the store was very well maintained!
