God’s Greatest Gift To Man Is Light
Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay
Today’s “Friday Foodie Feature” is being preempted by these images which I captured this morning from my driveway.
As I sat in the car saying my “commuting prayer” I looked up to see a beautiful sun filled sky. I immediately stopped praying, grabbed the camera from the back seat and snapped three pictures. It was a few minutes past 8:00 am, and running late as usual I didn’t take time to review them. The sun was so bright while taking these pictures I couldn’t really see what I had shot.
Everyday when I get to work the first thing I do is read “Our Daily Bread” Devotion of the day. I hadn’t planned on viewing the pictures until later but when I saw the title of today’s devotion – THE GIFT OF LIGHT, I was filled with chills!
Now if you look at the pictures again you will notice red spots, strategic in their placement which may have come from the glare on the camera lens…
…but take a look at these cell phone pictures that I took last Saturday night as we crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge a little after 8:00 p.m.
Are these my Guardian Angels?

23rd Wedding Anniversary Dinner
Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
On Sunday hubby and I celebrated our 23rd Wedding Anniversary and had dinner at our favorite restaurant, Chesapeake Inn and Marina. This lovely restaurant is located in Chesapeake City, Maryland on the waterfront and overlooks the C&D Canal. We have enjoyed having our Anniversary dinner here for years not only because of it’s location which is only 10 mins from the house, but because it has the best seafood and the atmosphere is enjoyable.
Before leaving for the evening our son took a few pictures of us on the back deck.
When I think back on our courtship, relationship and marriage I can only say – God is Good!
Settled in for our Anniversary Dinner
Overlooking the C&D Canal
Partying on the lower deck
Here’s to another 23!
Linking up today for Thursday Favorite Thing at Katherine’s Corner.

Powerball – WWYD?
Hello Friends and Happy
“What Would You Do” Wednesday!
Do you remember the last time Powerball reached record levels?
Do you remember this post when it was 1/2 Billion dollars?
I would probably pass out, fall down, bump my head and end up with amnesia never knowing I won – lol!
What you would you do with $400 Million Dollars?
The jackpot is now an estimated $425Million which will only increase as the day progresses!
Even if you don’t win, you can be winner in knowing that some of the proceeds are helping to fund schools and Senior Centers in your state, but remember, “You Gotta Be In It To Win It!
Good luck & have a fantabulous day – Smooches!
Nikon CoolPix P520 Camera
Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday
Inspired by some awesome photos I’ve seen taken by you guys I decided to upgrade my camera from a Canon PowerShot SX150 to a Nikon CoolPix. Not that a camera will make me a better photographer, it will however, (I hope) make my photos pop with less of a need to rely on editing software.
My husband recommended that I go to Cameras etc and take a look at their selection of used cameras of which was extensive, but I was more interested in the Nikon Coolpix P100 on sale that I had seen in the newspaper.
Armed with the advertisement I drove into Newark, to Main Street on the campus of the University of Delaware and fed 4 quarters into the parking meter. Entering the store I was immediately greeted by Imaging Consultant Todd. I explained what I wanted, showed him the ad and stated that I had “Liked” them on Facebook hoping for a discount.
Unfortunately, they didn’t have the advertised model in stock but Todd did show me a higher priced model the P520, but before you scream, “bait and switch”, he didn’t try to push me into purchasing it. He called their Wilmington store and asked to have one shipped for arrival the next day.
Todd explained all the features on the P520 and how it compared to the P100 so that I would be familiar and comfortable before making the purchase. He also took time to show me some used Nikon cameras in the same price range but after I took the camera outside, snapped a few pictures I decided then to buy it.
The time and patience that Todd spent in explaining all the features was awesome, I even had to feed two additional quarters into the meter, I see why they have been a successful business since 1977.
This camera is an early birthday present to myself and I am looking forward to using it this weekend as we celebrate our 23rd Wedding Anniversary and at the BLMGirls event in DC on the 31st.
Thank you friends for your inspiration and thank you Todd for your patience!
Chasing The Dream Entrepreneurship Camp
Hello Friends and Happy Monday!
Chasing the Dream Entrepreneurship Camp sponsored by The Money School of Delaware provided youngsters between the ages of 9-13, an opportunity to learn the basics of starting a business. Last Thursday they were given the tools and a venue to showcase what they had learned.
A miniature Marketplace was set up in Rodney Square in Wilmington where the campers had an opportunity to sell their products, which included body scrubs, hand crafted jewelry, sunglasses, candy, plants, lemonade, popcorn, metal sculptures even hourly math tutoring sessions.
These young entrepreneurs obviously also learned another very important lesson, the value of customer satisfaction. They greeted each passerby with a smile and eagerly answered questions about their products.
There was a heavy downpour on and off during the day but that did not stop people from coming out to support. There was a steady stream of customers as well as WDEL Radio personality, Amy Cherry and a 6ABC News cameraman.
I was truly impressed with not only the products these entrepreneurs had created, but how each of their personalities and positive attitudes showed brightly despite the dark clouds looming overhead.
Kudos to The Money School of Delaware for supporting the youth of today with their futures of tomorrow.
World's Longest Yard Sale
Hello Friends and Happy Saturday!
Here we are again, the 1st Saturday of the month so you know where to find me – set up at Dutch Country Farmers Market in Middletown. I am still trying to purge household items, clothing, books, shoes anything I don’t need in order to make a few extra dollars and leave less to pack or donate when we decide to downsize.
As in most states you’ll find community yard sales, but did you know that the longest yard sale starts in North Addison, Michigan and goes through to Gadsen, Alabama? It is 690 miles long and people stake out their front yards along Hwy 127 for 4 days to sell new and used items!
According to the 127sale.com website, the yard sale officially starts the first Thursday in August and runs through to the following Sunday but this year it started on the 1st. People travel from the North, South, East and West some make it an annual event renting RV’s and camping out year after year. “An exchange of cultures with a common goal; to look, buy and sale!”
Can you imagine taking a week’s vacation to go to a Yard Sale? Oh well, I’ll just stick with my little space in the parking lot on the first Saturday of the month from April to November!
Flea Markets are fun because you never know what you’ll find!

This school desk is refinished, but did you ever carve your initials into yours?
