How did you do with last week’s selection? It’s so funny because sometimes I get immediate comments on a particular pair and other times not so much, I guess it all depends on the outfit.
A few of you stepped outside of the box with the white wedges from Urbanog, I guess because of the colorful and sassy skirt, but the winner of last week’s You Choose the Shoes were both pair – yes, ladies and gentlemen it was a tie!!!
There’s a first time for everything and I want to thank you all for the vote.
Now on to this week’s contenders, which are both fun and funky, so I’m thinking this may too may end in a tie but we’ll see.
The red ones are a previous purchase from Rugged Wearhouse and the Black and Beige are a recent purchase from The Shoe Dept.
Okay, now I know you may say, the red because of the belt, but look how great the colors match up in the dress with the black and beige pair.
The dress is from Ross and take a look at the side zippers, they are brass which is also the same metal in the rivets on the shoes.
I chose to wear brass accessories as well, ring and watch are both from Avon and I can’t remember where I got the bracelet.
Are you ready to make a choice?
Will is be the red sandals?
OR
will it be the black and beige sandals?
One last look!
Leave your comments below. I am heading over to read some posts at the Bloggy Mom’s June Blog Hop and when I get back, I’ll respond.
Sometimes I used to wish that there was a manual with chapters that could answer questions about raising my sons, questions like when was it a good time to teach them the basics. When do we teach them how to cook and clean or manage a household? When do we teach them how to write a check or pay a bill? Do we teach our daughters differently than our sons?
So many questions ran through my mind and now with them starting college in a few weeks, and the youngest leaving home for the first time, a strange question popped into my head, does my son know how to peel a potato?
When did you teach your sons how to sew?
When did you teach them how to cook?
When did you teach your sons how to wash their clothes, fold and then put them away?
When did you teach your sons how to clean a toilet, scrub a tub or wash a mirror?
When did you teach them how to sweep, mop or vacuum a floor?
When did you teach your sons how to iron their clothes?
When did you teach them how to make their bed?
When did you teach your sons how to wash dishes or load the dishwasher?
When did you teach them how to dust?
When did I teach my son how to peel a potato?
I don’t remember when I taught them any of this, but I’m glad that I did!
When did you teach your son or daughter how to peel a potato?
Recently I was contacted by Pauline Durban, president and founder of Covered Perfectly, a company whose sole purpose is designing cute, flattering clothing for women over 40. She asked if I would be interested in a doing a product review and giveaway so after checking out the online catalog I enthusiastically agreed.
There were several cute tops but I selected this Cascading Vest because in my mind I envisioned wearing it to an outdoors party or out to dinner with hubby. The vest is available in four fabulous prints and because I already had a pair of leopard print shoes I chose this style to match them.
The Cascading Vest is the perfect accessory to any outfit whether for work or leisure, it works great with pants, jeans, or even a strapless jumpsuit as in how I wore it.
The vest is available in sizes small to extra large and 1X-4X and is flattering to all body types.
Pauline has graciously offered to give a $50 Gift Certificate to one of my lucky readers. This Rafflecopter Giveaway will end at midnight on August 2nd, so take a look at her online collection then come back to leave a comment on which item you would choose if you won.
If see something that you want to order now, please use the discount code “DD20” to receive 20% off the total. Good luck and we’ll chat later.

The lazy, hazy hot days of summer calls for an easy breezy outfit which is why I love wearing maxi dresses. Whether I’m heading out for lunch with hubby or running a few errands around town, there’s nothing like the carefree coolness of a maxi dress.
I’ll grab a boho bag, put on an armful of mismatched bangles and a large statement ring, slide into a pair of thong sandals and out the door I go!
Last Saturday was a perfect example of my Saturday Summer Style.
Maxi Dress with sexy side slit
Weekends are unstructured and so is my bag, I’ll just take a few essentials from my weekday purse, throw them into this bag and jet. A large statement ring and a bunch of mismatched bangles compliments the maxi dress.
However, in the summer there is definitely one thing that I can’t leave home without and that is sunscreen for both my face and body.
Summer skin care is vitally important and HSN is currently featuring Skin Care Products made for all faces. The products are available to treat everything from fine lines and wrinkles to oily skin and acne. To read more about these products and to receive skin care tips, click here.
Summer skin care is essential no matter what you are wearing, so ladies don’t forget the sunscreen before heading outdoors to keep the skin you’re in healthy and safe.
Hello friends, Happy Fri-Yay and welcome to the Weekend Wind-Down Party #26
This has been such a wonderful week and I can’t believe that some of you may be gearing up for “BACK TO SCHOOL” – I know the sales and television commercials are in full swing.
Next Saturday we may drive over the bridge to Jersey to do some shopping at Cowtown Flea Market Just to pick up a few things before Malik leaves for his 3-day Freshman Orientation at Bowie State University.
Tayair has returned to work at the UDairyCreamery but is still on a liquid diet so I made him an ice cream float to break up the monotony of pureed foods and soups.
Now let’s get this party started with congratulations to this week’s Featured Bloggers!
Meatloaf and Melodrama
Purple Hues and Me
Huddlenet
Belle of the kitchen

Please copy and paste this button onto your blog and check our Pinterest Page as you are also featured there.
Once again, the rules are quite simple and we ask that you don’t link and run AND most importantly, please acknowledge the party on your post in some way, either with this button or a reference ink.
I personally read every post and would appreciate if you would read one of mine and/or one of your hosts, this is a party of sharing and caring!
There’s something fun and exciting about weekends in the summer, it doesn’t matter if you have plans to travel or are just staying home they just seem to be much more enjoyable.
The longer days, the lighter foods and of course lounging poolside always makes me feel better, how about you, what makes your summer weekends more enjoyable?
Friday’s are also casual work days which means I can wear jeans, not ripped or boyfriend jeans, but my summer whites which fits the bill as being corporate casual.
I am always afraid that I will turn back into a 5 year old and spill something when wearing white, but I made it through the day without an incident! The jeans and Vera Wang camo tank are both thrifted, and the sandals which were purchased several years ago completes the outfit.
I chose brass accessories to match the brass links in the sandals as well as a coordinating blend in with the camouflage tank. The bracelets are from Burlington Coat Factory, ring and watch from Avon and brass chain from Michael’s.
I wore these jeans a week later which if you remember were just a dollar on clearance at JC Penney. This was actually the day before the 4th Holiday and I was a bit ruffled because I had been running around after work shopping.
Striped top was thrifted from Goodwill, the scarf also $1.00 from Dollar Tree and the blue and white polka dots flats were purchased from Rugged Wearhouse for less than $10.00.
How do you wear your Summer White Jeans?
Don’t forget to come back this evening at 6:00 for the #WWDParty!
As you know I have two sons both who will be attending college in the fall. Our youngest, Malik, will be attending Bowie State University, and our oldest, Tayair will be heading to the University of Delaware. #SENDMONEY
Last week Tayair and I attended a 1-day Freshman Orientation for his CLSC Program. The CLSC Program is a new post secondary education option in Delaware for students with with intellectual disabilities. You see, Tayair was born 3 months premature, weighing a mere 2.8 lbs and hospitalized for 6 months in NICU to treat and repair his esophagus because he was born with Tracheoesophageal Fistula. Years of hospitalizations and surgeries led to a partial colon interposition at the age of 5, and it was the first time he was able to eat solid foods.
Needless to say, all those years of medical procedures and medications although they kept him alive and healthy, also put a strain on his brain. But today at the age of 22, he is a High School Graduate, Class of 2010, is working steadily and ready to pursue higher education and for that I applaud him – he is my hero!
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you know he had maxillofacial surgery on the 30th of June so his face is still a little swollen but that didn’t stop us from taking pictures on this great day.
You may not be able to tell from his swollen face, but my smiling face tells it all – we were excited to be there!
There was a lot of paperwork to complete as well as a homework assignment which is due on the 25th – BACK TO SCHOOL
Parents had their own orientation session as well.
A quick break for lunch led us to the on campus Saladworks, Tayair had soup-through-a-straw!
A walking tour ended this great day, and he is looking forward to classes beginning next month.
Malik leaves for Bowie on the 27th and I also look forward to that Freshmen Orientation.
I am so thankful that our son was selected to attend the CLSC Program at the University of Delaware. This program offers him specialized career studies and life studies coursework with access to a variety of integrated academic, work, and social activities on campus.
I believe it is going to enhance his social skills and provide him with the tools necessary to navigate the world without barriers and guide him towards a very productive lifestyle. I am also so very thankful that his surgery was a success despite the aspiration pneumonia that followed.
I am thankful for you my followers, my family, my friends and of course my faith. Now heading over to share at Katherine’s Corner, join in if you have a chance.
Now, it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?
Hello friends, and welcome to Week 13 of this fun feature “You Choose The Shoes”! Have you been keeping a tally of your wins and losses?
Most of you agreed that last week’s contenders were each perfectly suited for the dress, but as Glenda stated, it all depended on how I was feeling or my mood. So without further adieu the winner of last week’s contest was the sexy peep toe pumps!
Today we have repeat contenders, they are
Avon verses Urbanog.com
The shoes are contending to be matched with this colorful thrifted skirt from Goodwill that I paired with a simple white t-shirt from Walmart. Actually the shirt is from their activewear collection, but since I am not an active exerciser, it’s being worn as a regular t-shirt.
This is one of the other belts that I got from Rugged Wearhouse for only $1.00. The crystal bracelets were also $1.00 from Michael’s and I don’t remember where I purchased the earrings.
Okay, so are you ready…which pair do you choose, the ruffled white wedges from Urbanog.com
Last month at the Radiant Orchid Garden Party I noticed our hostess had fruit filled ice balls in glasses at the outdoor bar. I wanted to try one but with all the activities of the day I didn’t get a chance. Thankfully, I now have an opportunity to do a product review for Large Deluxe Ice-Ball-Molds by StyloPhora so I made my own.
I ordered the product on Thursday and it arrived from Amazon.com on Sunday – talk about quick delivery! Although I was impressed with the quick delivery, I was a bit concerned with the packaging. There were 4 pieces of cellophane tape across the top sealing the plastic tube which make me wonder if it was a returned item then hand sealed versus machine sealed. It was obvious that the molds weren’t used, otherwise I would have asked for a replacement.
My son decided to test one first and said he liked it, but then again, he just froze plain water to put into a pitcher of iced tea. I, on the other hand wanted to add fruit to the mold and use it in a pitcher of Sangria.
There are 3 silicon molds per pack and includes a collapsible funnel. After washing the molds I filled the bottom half with diced pineapples and mango chunks. I put the top on and using the funnel to fill the mold with water only to the black lines which allows for expansion.
I kept them in the freezer overnight, however, it only needs 4-6 hours to totally freeze. After freezing, remove the top half, then squeeze to release ice mold into a glass or pitcher.
Included on the instructions pamphlete for the Ice Ball Molds is a code for a bonus video on how to make crystal clear ice balls.
These slow melting ice balls are great for a party pitcher or added to an individual glass.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
