Top to Bottom in Citi Trends

Today, Malik is top to bottom in his new Citi Trends gear and I  must admit he looks all grown up.

His new glasses also adds a look of intellect, lets hope his brain follows suit!

I may take him shopping more often if this is the incentive for him wanting to go to school!

Shopping in Dover

On Friday, after Tayair and I left the cemetery we stopped at Spencer’s Bazaar Flea Market and then Rodney Village Shopping Center.  There will be a separate post for Spencer’s Bazaar that features unique items made and sold by a high school friend.  Our next stop was to the Goodwill store where Gloria once worked before she passed.  I walked around for almost 30 minutes and could not find anything, eventually I found a belt for $1.00.  Within the shopping center which is really a strip mall there was Beauty Max, a large beauty supply store.  Hubby needed new hair clippers and I was looking for a “weekend wig”.  After finding a cute FreeTress unit on clearance for $19.99, a lace front, the hair clippers and some nail polish we decided to head home.

As we were leaving I noticed a store called Citi Trends, I had never heard of it but decided to stop in and check it out.  The clothing was along the lines of urban gear for the younger crowd, but I found a cute pencil skirt, a cuff bracelet and a spike ring.  (posted on Instagram @ablake48).  Tayair wasn’t interested in anything but I knew Malik would be, so on Saturday I let him drive us back down to check it out.  While he shopped I took time to look around and ended up getting these shoes and dresses.  Malik wore the Canvas Lace Ups and watch to school which is probably why he was so anxious on going today.

Malik’s Purchases

Purchased this FreeTress Wig (Lyon Girl) for $19.99

OOTD – Monday Madness

Happy Monday my friends.  This morning was full of drama, while having breakfast we got a Robo call from the school’s Department of Transportation.  The bus driver had quit and they were looking for a replacement but wasn’t sure what time the bus would arrive.  My son, being anxious to get to school…(yea right) whined and begged to drive my car.  He had driven me to Dover and back on Saturday so was comfortable with the car, however, it was his first solo trip.  I gave in and let him drive, praying until I got the call from the school that he had arrived safely and my car key was in the office.  Tayair had to drive me to his school to pick up my car and en route his windshield wiper flew off.  It was foggy and his defroster took almost a 1/2 hour to clear the window but we made it safely and he went to his shop to have them replaced.  I was an hour late to work but it’s three days before my birthday, my son’s are safe so it’s all good.

Got the call and I was happy!

$alvation Army $avings

Instead of attending a Fashion Night Out (FNO) event, I went thrifting at the Salvation Army in Wilmington and found a few fall pieces. I am not sure of their pricing policy or if it’s the same at all locations, but everything here ended in .99 cents. The clothing and shoe prices are a bit higher than Goodwill but less expensive than a Consignment shop.

20 Years Ago Today was the Worse Day of my Life

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

the lowest point – the day I cursed God!

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life,

my son lay in NICU, a mere 3 lbs, living in an incubator with tubes and wires attached to his tiny body

20 Years Ago today was the worse  day of my life

all hell broke loose in Wilmington, DE and hundreds of miles away in Maryland

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

83 days of going back and forth to the hospital to pray with and over our son

him having an aunt, me having a sister

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

souls of these two departed this earthly world

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

around 7:00 in the evening the soul of my lil sis was departing her body

she sat trapped in a burning car, wedged underneath the body of a tractor trailer

being dragged to her untimely death….burning tears filling her eyes as they do mine with the thought of 20 Years Ago today

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

around 7:00 in the evening the soul of my lil son was departing his body

heart rate dropped, breathing stopped, monitors beeping uncontrollably

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

The souls passed, one guided back to the body while the other ascended into heaven

the soul of the child returned, heart beating strongly, breathing  stabilized, his life restored

20 Years Ago today was the worse day of my life

My mother’s baby daughter and her twin brother, both gone too soon

sis and uncle traveled together for the last time passing through the Pearly Gates

20 Years Ago today was the worse and best day of my life

OOTD – Work Week Skirt Week – Last Day

Happy Thursday my friends, I hope you are having a stress-free productive day.  This is the last day of skirt week because tomorrow I will be traveling and won’t be in the office.  I still have a lot more to wear but I did find several that will be sold at next month’s Flea Market.  This weekend I may tackle the shoes but if not, it will definitely be done before the end of the month.

This skirt still had the price tag on it, clearance for $7.98, from Burlington Coat Factory and I almost didn’t wear it.  It’s ruffled on the sides and I thought it might accentuate my thighs but the color matched the shoes (purchased here) so I cut the tag and wore it.  The multi color top is a closet staple as is the jewelry (because I can’t remember where purchased).

I picked up this cloth fan at Dollar Tree to keep in my purse for those “personal summer” moments!

Have a blessed day ~Smooches!

OOTD – Work Week Skirt Week – Day 3

Happy Hump Day Wednesday….let the countdown begin.  Why do I wish my life away by rushing the week to get to the weekend?  I need to be more conscience of that and simply enjoy each day because they are not promised.  Today’s outfit is once again not thrifted even though it didn’t start out that way.  The first skirt I put on was from Goodwill but it was a little too tight….gotta watch those carbs!!  I love the color burgundy for the fall and have read that it’s the color for the season, that and “oxblood”.  Who in the world cut an ox and then decided to use the color of the blood to describe clothing – where in the world do you find an ox anyway?

The multi-color skirt was purchased last month from Boscov’s (remember this sale) and I paired it with the burgundy top from Ross or Marshalls.  Picking up the mustard color in the skirt with the xhilaration sandals via Target.  Necklace and earring set from Jewelrymax.net as well as rhinstone, butterfly ring.  The tri-color metal bracelet is from my jewelry box (which means I can’t remember where it was purchased).

Have a wonderful day and make the most of it, I’ll try to do the same.
