Fashion Tip – Stretching Shoes

If you have a pair of shoes that are a bit too tight you can stretch them in the freezer. Partially fill a Ziploc/Hefty bag with water removing as much air as possible and then put the bag into the toe of the shoe. Tilt the shoes downward when you put them into the freezer so that the water is molded into the top of the toe. If the shoes were previously worn put them in a grocery bag before putting them into the freezer to eliminate any transfer of dirt/bacteria. After a day or two remove the shoes from freezer, allow the ice to thaw and then remove the bags of water. The frozen water should have stretched the shoes to make them more comfortable but if not stretched wide enough, repeat and leave them in the freezer longer. This method works well on leather and faux leather peep toe shoes, but I am trying this on these faux suede from Avon which were pre-treated with a water repellent.

Coupons and Samples

I often sign up at websites that offer free samples and coupons. Yesterday when I got home I found the mail didn’t contain any bills (whew) but it did have some samples and coupons!

Payless – 20% off coupon

Super G/Giant – grocery coupons

P&G – Dawn and Downey samples as well as store coupons

Mix Match

I just love when I buy an item on clearance at one store and then another item at a different store only to realize later that they match! The red with black/white stripes top was purchased several months ago from Ross and the skirt last season on clearance from Marshalls. When I pulled them out of the drawer and saw how well they looked together I told my hubby, he didn’t think it was all that exciting…must be a man thing, but I loved it!

St. Patty's Day Shopping

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and the last weekend of Winter 2012. The weather was gorgeous and it was a perfectly lucky Saturday to be out walking and spending a little green. My first stop was at DSW where there are aisles and aisles of beautiful shoes, I tried on several pairs before settling on the Polka Dot Madden Girl heels. I used my DSW $100 Gift Card and with my $10.00 off coupon they were $29.99. Along the front wall there are several tables of clearance purses, hats and cosmetic bags and I got the poppie jones clutch for $14.00.

I walked next door to Old Navy a store that I don’t normally shop and even though they had a nice selection of maxi dresses and colorful tops I didn’t see anything until I was on the way out. There are several clearance racks throughout the store and I saw one that had this wrap dress for $14.99, it also came in black.

Last stop was to Joann Fabric, as usual they were having a sale, 30% off lawn and garden items and 25% off handbag supplies and fabric swatches. I also had a 20% off coupon so I saved over $10.00 on my Clutch Purse supplies.
