Class of 2014 Ring Ceremony

Ring Ceremony for the Class of 2014 at Appoquinimink High School

Last evening was the Ring Ceremony, a high school tradition that started in….aah well I really don’t know when it started because in 1977 I got my ring in the mail!  Anywho, months ago when al-Malik and his father ordered his ring it fit, last night, not so much.  He has been working out like a maniac hoping to make next year’s Varsity Football team so everything including his fingers has bulked up.  It will need to be resized as did Tayair’s who’s finger size also increased, thank goodness Josten’s provides a lifetime of free adjustments.

The Ring Ceremony includes having 13 classmates turn your ring around once towards the thumb and then a close family member  turns it towards the pinkie, towards the heart to seal in good fortune.  Malik didn’t do this because the ring was too small and his finger would have swollen up like a sausage!

This is the last High School ring that we have to purchase and hopefully neither his nor his brother’s will end up in the Atlantic Ocean like mine did – that’s a story for another day but at least I still have my college ring which won’t even fit my pinkie!!

Crock Pot Meal – Italian Herb Chicken

Last night’s dinner was an easy crock pot meal made with ingredients I had on hand.

Chicken Breasts, Canned Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce and Paste, Mushrooms, and McCormick Slow Cooker Seasoning Package for Italian Herb Chicken

I used a crock pot liner instead of spraying with cooking spray. Chicken in first, topped with the mushrooms. The Italian Herb dry seasonings was mixed with the cans of tomatoes and poured on top.

Covered and cooked on low for 8 hours.

Shredded the chicken with a fork

Wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla

Mine with a jalapeno pepper.

The second week in May is starting off cool and cloudy but I’m not going to complain because I know the heat is just around the corner!

Today’s shoes pairs well with the top, however, for me they are too dressy to be worn to work.

Goodwill Donation and Mini Haul

A few Saturdays ago my son drove me to the Middletown Goodwill so that I could donate a box of clothing and electronics.  He’s still working on his 50 hours of supervised drive time as per the state’s Graduated Licensing Program and I enjoyed being chauffeured.

Of course after I donated in the back we went to the front for a little shopping!

Maxi Dress for Mom (me)

This weekend while grocery shopping at Walmart SuperCenter I noticed they had  nice selection of Maxi Dresses for $14.88 and $16.00.

I decided to pick this one up as a early Mother’s Day gift to myself , I’ll give it to one of my son’s to give to me on Sunday – lol

 The older I get the more I like wearing dresses & skirts, I guess that I’m reverting back to my childhood, Oh Lord, am I really getting that old?!
